Chapter 30: If One isn't Enough, What About Dozens? 2
Chapter 30: If One isn't Enough, What About Dozens? 2
Throughout the fight, Ken had noticed a pattern.
After the eighth slash, his eyes had fallen upon the tiny stone that he deduced was the rock. But it took him 3 more attempts to actually strike it.
Seeing this the second time, he struck it, or at least where he thought it would be, but it turned out to not be in the same place.
This made him realize that each time the angel regenerated, the core changed places.
Then he struck the second time and failed to kill it once more, and this was the last attempt he needed to understand what he had to do.
It turns out the pattern was far more complex than he first thought as the core moved even without regeneration, but during the third slash, he made no mistake, directly killing it. Separating the core from the body and ending the battle.
Ken put all of this in the back of his mind, escaping as fast as he could right after finishing off the monster.
While on his way back to the ship, he was thinking...
The sword slash was near perfect; in fact, if he were to actually meet with another angel, a single slash would be all he needed to kill it.
But this fight had shown him another shortcoming. No, this whole trip did.
Since the beginning. He was only fighting by moving a step forward, back, right, or left.
He only rushed forward or dodged. He didn't have a proper movement technique.
If he were to just take a reference from his movement as he escaped from the wolf pack, that would act as strong progress in this aspect.
On the other hand, the slash that took the life of the angel was also not bad.
He was proud of it, to say the least.
Speaking of the Wolf Pack... Wasn't there a lot of wolf corpses around here?
Ken had been moving carefully, jumping from tree to tree and zigzagging through bushes.
Not a single soul should have caught sight of him, but that thinking was wrong.
Well, not entirely.
While it was true that not a single soul should have noticed him so far, there was someone who had been observing him since he unleashed the angel, and seeing how the perfect organism he had created had failed at the task and how he had also lost it permanently, he got mad.
And thus, a scene that Ken feared the most actually happened.
"This..." He looked up, and there, several eyes like the one he had just gotten rid of looked back at him.
Angels. Not one, not two, but dozens. More than his eyes could take in at once.
And this time, they weren't joking. They didn't come down to capture him, no. They approached with anger, their master's emotion transmitted through them.
With the loss of one of his masterpieces, his progress has been brought back by so much, and Ken had to pay for it, even if he had to be shredded into a million pieces.
While they were on their way here, the wolf pack that had been alerted thought that Ken had returned and came out to attack, but before they even noticed, their leader had his torso split in two, and from then on, the pack fled away, each going their separate way.
But with the number of angels coming here, they were met with an unforunate fate where each of them was slain, causing the phenomenon Ken had just seen.
And now he was the target of the culprits, the ones who had caused the deaths of the enemies he found a pain dealing with.
But...
"I'm not the same anymore." Coming out of his hiding, Ken knew that there was no way out of this situation.
The only way he could actually flee was by taking care of these flying fucks.
"Good. You came at the perfect time. With you, my movement technique will be perfected." He said.
He had just been thinking about ways to integrate the movements he was just doing with fighting, even going as far as simulating fights on this short trip here.
And now he was met with the perfect situation where he could try it out, and at the highest difficulty at that.
"Kekekekek." Out of the countless monsters, one whose body was black stood out.
On his face was an ugly smile as he chuckled while flying forward, coming closer to Ken.
"Is that so?" He spoke, making Ken tense up.
"Then show me, The Devil, Lucifer, your movement technique."
