One Piece: My code name is Green Bull

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Birth of the Forest Realm

As Jon and his team accelerated their pace, one of the villages on the island was being slaughtered by pirates.

"You damned peasants dare to resist me? You killed one of my men? Today, none of you will leave alive!"

A pirate crew of over a hundred surrounded the small village, captured all the villagers, and began a bloody massacre.

Originally, the pirates had come to loot the village. However, when one villager fought back and killed a pirate, the pirate captain flew into a rage and decided to wipe out the entire village.

"Kill them all! Leave no one alive!"

Blades rose and fell, and in the blink of an eye, the small village of only a few hundred people was reduced to a blood-soaked graveyard.

"Hahaha!"

The pirate captain laughed heartily, satisfied by the carnage.

This pirate captain was named Coleman, an extremely cruel man from the North Blue. His crew had entered the first half of the Grand Line six months ago.

Coleman's pirate crew consisted of vicious criminals—murderers who were infamous in the North Blue even before they entered the Grand Line. Their reputation for brutality remained unchanged.

With a string of heinous crimes to their name, Coleman's bounty had risen from 40 million berries to 89 million berries, just shy of the 100-million-berry mark.

Wherever Coleman's crew went, devastation followed. While most pirate crews killed only when necessary, Coleman's crew slaughtered for sport. They would kill anyone who dared resist, anyone who annoyed them, or even those too poor to steal from.

While many pirate crews were ruthless, Coleman's was among the worst—true demons among pirates.

"Boss, everyone is dead—men, women, children—none survived."

Hearing his crew's report, Coleman laughed even more gleefully.

"Burn this damned place to the ground!"

"Yes, Boss!"

The pirates began setting fires, and in no time, the once peaceful village was engulfed in flames.

"Smoke! There's smoke ahead!"

As Jon and the Navy advanced, they spotted thick smoke rising in the distance—a massive cloud caused by raging flames.

With his experience, Major Matt immediately realized what was happening and turned pale.

"We need to move faster! We can't let these pirates continue their slaughter!"

The group broke into a sprint, racing toward the village as fast as they could.

The pirates, having finished their massacre, were preparing to leave when they spotted the approaching Navy troops.

"Boss, the Navy is here!"

Coleman's face darkened.

"The Navy? Why are they here?"

They had been on the island for a while and hadn't encountered any Navy presence until now.

"Who cares why they're here? If they've come to die, we'll grant their wish! Kill every last one of them!"

When pirates and the Navy cross paths, the situation boils down to two options: fight or flee.

Since the pirates had no intention of fleeing, the only choice was to fight. And for pirates like Coleman's crew, there was no room for negotiation—it was kill or be killed.

Unlike grand battles like the Paramount War, where both sides exchanged words before fighting, ordinary clashes between pirates and the Navy began immediately and brutally.

When Jon and the Navy arrived and saw the blazing inferno and the mountain of corpses, they needed no further reason to fight.

"Attack!"

Major Matt, the highest-ranking officer present, roared in fury, veins bulging in his forehead.

The Navy soldiers raised their rifles and fired at the charging pirates.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Gunfire erupted from both sides as the battle commenced.

Jon didn't rush into the fray. Instead, he stood still, gazing at the scene before him. Despite the distance, he could clearly see the burning village and the countless corpses.

It wasn't hard to guess that these were the bodies of the villagers—ordinary people who had done nothing wrong. Yet now, they lay lifeless on the ground, their peaceful lives stolen in an instant.

Jon's extraordinary senses seemed to make it worse—he could almost hear the echoes of their final, desperate screams. He couldn't fathom the agony they must have endured before their deaths.

"These damned bastards... They all deserve to die."

For the first time, an unquenchable rage filled Jon's chest. The sight of the massacre shattered his composure, leaving behind only seething fury.

"Jon!"

Pemberton, noticing Jon's reddened eyes, was alarmed. He had known Jon for over a year but had never seen him this enraged—not even when pirates slaughtered an entire ship of people.

"I'm fine."

Pemberton's voice brought Jon back to his senses. He took a deep breath, regaining some of his composure. His heightened senses had diminished when he was overwhelmed by anger.

"Pemberton, tell me—don't these people deserve to die?"

"Yes, they all deserve to die."

"Good. Then I'll make sure they do."

"Jon, what are you planning?" Pemberton sensed something was off about Jon.

Jon didn't answer. Instead, he walked over to Major Matt and said,

"Major Matt, I'm going to use my Devil Fruit ability. Please have your men cease fire when I give the signal."

"What?"

Matt stared at Jon in shock. Did Jon plan to take on all the pirates alone?

"Don't be surprised. Just watch."

Jon offered no further explanation. He stepped forward, knelt down, and pressed his hands to the ground, his gaze cold and unyielding.

"Since I awakened this power, I've never used it at full force. Today, I'll see what my limits are."

With that, Jon poured all his strength into activating his ability, channeling his Nen to communicate with the plants beneath the soil and conjure new plant life.

Jon had long modeled his Devil Fruit ability after the "Wood Release" techniques from another world.

This wasn't just a passing thought—it was a plan he had been developing and training for.

Jon didn't need to replicate the basic Wood Release techniques—he could already control plants directly, which was more efficient and flexible than forming hand signs.

However, the large-scale techniques of the Wood Release could still serve as inspiration. The move he was about to use was one such example.

Unlike Hashirama, who could conjure entire forests instantly with chakra, Jon had no chakra—he had to use his own stamina to create plants.

This meant that his large-scale attacks took longer to prepare unless he made pre-battle preparations. Right now, with no time to prepare, he needed several seconds.

Fueled by rage, Jon ignored the toll on his body and pushed his ability to the limit.

About ten seconds later, Jon was ready. He muttered in a low, resolute voice:

"Forest Birth."

As Jon's voice echoed across the battlefield, the ground began to tremble.

And then—a sight that left everyone stunned unfolded before their eyes.
