Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Cloning the Five Elders!

Edie's index finger and thumb gently pinched the blade of Saint Nusjuro's katana, halting the attack effortlessly.

Seeing his strike thwarted so easily, Saint Nusjuro sneered. "End this? With just you?"

The arrogance in his voice was steeped in centuries of invulnerability. For 800 years, the World Government had crushed every rebellion with ruthless efficiency. The last significant threat was two centuries ago when the rogue automaton, Emeth, assaulted Mariejois—only to meet the same fate as all others who dared defy them.

But this time was different. The stakes were higher. To them, the Void Century needed to be rewritten.

"Dr. Edie!"

The King of Wesley's voice trembled, a mix of relief and admiration. "You saved me... No matter what they say, you are the benefactor of our Wesley Kingdom!"

"Leave here," Edie said curtly, his voice calm yet firm. Despite his respect for the king's courage, he could not afford distractions. With a flick of his wrist, he repelled Saint Nusjuro's blade, sending the centaur-like figure stumbling backward.

Saint Nusjuro quickly regained his balance, his skeletal horse form rearing up. His katana gleamed, now coated in the deathly chill of underworld frost. He lunged forward with a piercing strike.

Edie's Observation Haki painted the future clearly in his mind. He unsheathed Yoshi from his back, sidestepping the thrust effortlessly and retaliating with a sweeping slash.

A blazing arc of energy erupted—a Rainbow Slash!

Whoosh!

Saint Nusjuro's monstrous body split cleanly in two, the severed halves collapsing to the ground. Strangely, no blood spilled from the wound.

The energy of Edie's attack surged forward, its destructive force hurtling toward the rostrum where the other Elders sat.

In response, the remaining Elders shed their human façades, revealing their monstrous forms.

Gyūki Saturn, a towering figure with a spider's body and ox-like horns.Feng Xi, a grotesque warthog adorned with four tusks.Itsu Shinten, a bird-headed, winged serpent.Saint Mars, a colossal sandworm wreathed in dark flames.

The room erupted in chaos as their Haki surged, merging into a formidable barrier. Edie's attack collided with the shield, unleashing a deafening explosion of black lightning that illuminated the hall in stark flashes of black and white.

Screams echoed as terrified kings scrambled to flee.

"Lock down Mariejois! No one is allowed to leave!" Saint Mars roared, his massive form circling the hall like an apex predator.

The sandworm Elder burrowed into the ground, its immense body slithering underground before emerging behind Edie. Simultaneously, Saint Warcury charged like a berserker, his warthog fangs poised to crush his foe.

Edie, unfazed, extended his right hand to meet the charging beast.

BOOM!

A deafening collision followed as their Haki clashed, generating shockwaves that rippled through the hall, sending debris flying and forcing onlookers to shield themselves. The sheer force of the impact turned the world momentarily monochrome.

"Fufufufu... What a delightful scene from hell!" Doflamingo chuckled, raising an arm to shield himself from the aftermath.

Elsewhere, Crocodile dissolved into sand, retreating swiftly, while Bartholomew Kuma silently moved to assist the panicked kings.

Saint Warcury sneered. "Arrogant fool! Five against one—this ends here!"

The Elders' confidence stemmed from their perceived immortality. To them, defeat was impossible. Their last struggle, two years ago, was a fluke—a desperate sacrifice to protect Lord Imu.

"Kneel!" Saint Saturn bellowed, his voice laced with a controlling power akin to a spell.

But Edie's Overlord's Territory resisted effortlessly, nullifying the attempt.

"Haha... Kneel?" Edie's grin widened as he vanished from sight. "Rotten fish and shrimp like you don't deserve such courtesy!"

"Disappeared?!" Saint Mars scanned the room, his wings flaring as his Observation Haki swept the battlefield.

"Above!" Saint Mars shrieked, too late.

From the void, Edie's blade materialized, piercing Gyūki Saturn's left eye with precision.

Puff!

Blood spurted as Saturn howled in agony, his monstrous form writhing under the unexpected strike.

The kings and warriors watching from the shadows gasped in unison. For the first time in centuries, the Five Elders bled.

Edie's calm voice cut through the chaos. "This is just the beginning."

Saint Nusjuro, who had been bisected moments ago, now stood once more, his severed body flawlessly reconnected. His skeletal horse's hooves struck the ground with sharp, echoing clops as he charged forward at breathtaking speed. In less than a blink, he had reached Gyūki Saturn's side, the cursed First Generation Kitetsu in his grasp, ready to strike.

Slashing the air with panicked precision, he sneered. "Edie's invisible, not in another dimension! If we make our attacks big enough, we'll hit him!"

Yet, his blade met nothing but emptiness. Edie had vanished again.

Saint Nusjuro's face contorted with frustration. Even with the immense power of his Observation Haki, locating Edie seemed impossible. "Are we ending this or not?" he taunted, his voice loud and biting. "What's the point of hiding?"

"Above you, Mars!" Saint Peter, the sandworm Elder, bellowed, his tone sharp with urgency.

Saint Mars's expression shifted in alarm as he tried to dodge, but it was too late.

"Divine Departure."

Edie's voice rang out as a dark crescent slash descended from the void, severing Itsu Shinten's wings in a single devastating motion.

Slash!

Blood poured like rain as Saint Mars screamed, spiraling down to the ground. However, even as he fell, his wounds visibly began to regenerate.

"Futile!" he hissed, his beak opening wide to release a torrent of black flame.

Edie raised his right hand, pointing a single finger. "Black Flash."

A bolt of dark lightning burst forth, crashing into the advancing flames.

BOOM!

The collision detonated with a deafening roar, dispersing the flames and hurling Saint Mars back into the ground. The Great Hall filled with smoke and debris as Edie hovered in midair, his blood-stained blade reflecting the dim light.

Blood droplets, drawn by an invisible force, drifted toward Saint Saturn, intent on returning to their owner.

A notification flashed before Edie's eyes:

[When scientific research reputation reaches 100%, new simulation opportunities will unlock.]

[Remaining simulations: 0 → 1]

Edie smirked. His recent actions had catapulted his reputation to unparalleled heights.

Reaching out, he intercepted the blood midair, his fingers curling around it. The Five Elders, now fully recovered, began their counteroffensive.

Saint Mars took to the skies again. Saint Peter, the sandworm, emerged from the ground, his enormous mouth agape. Meanwhile, Saint Nusjuro's cold, underworld-imbued blade shimmered as thunder cracked above.

Gyūki Saturn stood motionless, still covering his left eye, his right eye locked intently on Edie. "You're proud of your immortality, aren't you?" Edie taunted, his voice calm. "Let me show you something more... entertaining."

Edie wiped Saturn's blood from his sword with a flick of his finger.

[This simulation project: Research on Biological Cloning and Devil Fruit Theory – Five Elders' Blood Factor.]

[Conditions met. Simulation begins.]

The simulation was brief, no longer than three seconds, during which the Five Elders communicated telepathically.

"Finish him quickly! Reinforcements are imminent!"

"We've activated the boundary dome, yet he still infiltrated. How?"

"Perhaps he was already here, lying in wait."

"If he can get in, others might too. The dome isn't infallible!"

They concluded in unison: "Ten minutes. Hold him for ten minutes."

Suddenly, another notification flashed for Edie.

[Additional reward: Demon Fusion No. 2.]

[Accept?]

Without hesitation, Edie confirmed.

A blinding white light enveloped the hall as a colossal black magic circle appeared on the ceiling, etched with complex, otherworldly lines.

"What is this?!" Gyūki Saturn roared, his voice tinged with disbelief.

Unlike the numbers representing the Five Elders—1 through 5—this circle bore golden starry eyes at its points, each glowing with eerie brilliance.

ROAR!

From the circle emerged a massive creature, a monstrous amalgamation of the Five Elders' forms:

A serpent's body.

Sixteen spider legs.

Bird-like wings.

A Bull's head.

Four elongated fangs.

Its skeletal frame pulsed with an unearthly aura, entirely devoid of flesh and blood.

Edie sheathed his sword and calmly placed his hands in the pockets of his white coat. "I give you the title of Daemon." His voice was commanding. "Kill them."

Daemon obeyed immediately, diving toward the Five Elders with terrifying speed.

The Five Elders stood frozen, their usual composure shattered.

"This... this is a demon like us!"

"Summoned?! Humans can summon and control demons?"

"Impossible!"

Gyūki Saturn sprang forward, his spider legs propelling him like a bolt of lightning. Yet, Daemon met his advance with a massive limb.

Puff!

One of Daemon's thicker spider legs impaled Saturn, pinning him to the ground.

"Can a demon kill another demon?" Edie mused aloud, his voice dripping with curiosity. He watched the carnage unfold with an air of scientific detachment. "Don't call me cruel. I'm simply testing a hypothesis."

Let's rewind time slightly—about three minutes prior.

Near the ancient Pangaea Castle in Mariejois, a lush garden bloomed with vibrant flowers. It was a gathering spot for those accompanying the kings from various nations to the conference. Nobles, princes, princesses, and their bodyguards mingled in this serene haven.

At the heart of the gathering stood Princess Otohime of the Ryugu Kingdom. Flanking her were her three sons and the towering figure of Princess Shirahoshi, who was carefully shielded by her brothers.

"Everyone, please look at me!" Otohime's voice rang out, commanding attention amidst the gentle hum of conversation.

Heads turned, and eyes—both curious and wary—settled on her.

"Is that a... mermaid?" someone murmured.

"Princess Otohime of the Ryugu Kingdom," another recognized, though a few gazes hardened with disdain.

"Hmph, how dare a mermaid show up at the World Summit?" a disgruntled voice muttered under their breath.

Undeterred, Otohime smiled warmly and spoke, "Our Ryugu Kingdom is a member of this world, just like all of you. I hope for a future where merfolk and humans coexist in harmony."

The words barely left her lips before a haughty laugh interrupted.

"Hoho, a mermaid, you say?"

A Celestial Dragon, Saint Charlos, strutted into the garden, his presence drawing immediate silence. His gaze fell on Otohime, and an unsettling grin spread across his face.

"I've decided—you'll be my slave!" Charlos declared arrogantly. "My last mermaid in the fish tank killed herself recently. You'll replace her!"

The garden froze in shock.

Otohime's serene smile faltered, her sons bristling behind her. Their fists clenched, and their eyes burned with fury, but she quickly intervened, whispering firmly, "Do not act rashly!"

Taking a deep breath, she addressed Charlos calmly, "Dear Celestial Dragon, I am Princess Otohime of the Ryugu Kingdom, and these are my children. Please reconsider—"

"Princess? Even better!" Charlos sneered. "I've never owned a mermaid princess before. Guards, seize her!"

Boom!

A sudden tremor shook the ground, interrupting the tense standoff.

The vibrations sent a shiver down Charlos's spine, dredging up memories of the nightmare attack on Mariejois two years ago. "What's happening?!" he barked, his voice trembling.

One of his guards hurriedly reported, "Saint Charlos, a... strange mass of jelly fell from the sky and struck the border dome!"

Boom!

Another explosion echoed, this time from inside Pangaea Castle. Charlos paled further.

"What now?!" he screamed, his fear palpable.

"Saint Charlos, it's no longer safe here," the guard urged. "Most have already evacuated to the Sabaody Archipelago. We must leave immediately!"

Faced with the possibility of danger, Charlos abandoned his bravado, snarling at Otohime before retreating with his entourage. "Protect me!" he cried as he fled toward the boundary dome.

As they passed the dome's certification process and slipped beyond its shield, eight figures descended from the sky.

Each figure bore black wings, white hair, and an aura of menace.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

One by one, the Eight Earthly Branches landed before the fleeing Charlos.

"Uh, Why can this fatass just come out like that, Isn't the barrier dome supposed to lock everybody inside?" Zishu yawned, adjusting the white ring on his middle finger.

"Idiot, he's a Celestial Dragon," Chou sneered. "Of course he has identification to enter and exit!"

Ignoring the panic-stricken Charlos and his guards, Wuma gave a cold order: "Locate and deactivate the generating devices. There are eight in total."

Zishu activated his [Surgery] ring, his voice calm: "ROOM."

An invisible hemispherical space unfolded, encompassing the area. In an instant, the eight earthly branches vanished, leaving behind small roadside pebbles in their place.

"...?" Charlos gawked, frozen in disbelief before scrambling to flee. "Get the Marines at Red Harbor to prepare a ship! I'm leaving for Sabaody—now!"

His panic-stricken sprint ended abruptly as he collided with a massive figure.

Kaido loomed over him, grabbing Charlos by the head with a vice-like grip.

"Well, well, look at you," Kaido sneered, lifting the trembling Celestial Dragon off the ground. "Aren't you an ugly little thing?"

Smush!

With a sickening crunch, Kaido crushed Charlos's skull with terrifying force, blood and fragments splattering like a grotesque watermelon.

Tossing the lifeless body aside, Kaido shook his hand disdainfully. "Disgusting... the stench is unbearable."
