Chapter 134: Chapter 96.1 : Drake's POV!!
Drake opened his eyes.
The room was still pitch black.
It was still very early.
His room was located on the middle floor of the main building on Onigashima, a bit lower than where Ian and the others stayed. However, it was still a floor only accessible to high-ranking members.
To be honest, Drake still had a surreal feeling even now.
He had actually joined the Beast Pirates, and now he was living on Onigashima as a probationary officer of the Beast Pirates.
He, who once dreamed of becoming a marine, was now truly among pirates.
However, there was no regret in his heart.
If anything, it was more likely to be anger.
The World Government was so corrupt, and the marines, who were supposed to uphold justice, were aiding in their misdeeds. It was time for him to destroy it all!
Drake felt that what beat inside his chest wasn't a red heart, but a burning, intense flame.
The flame was so hot that Drake didn't want to waste even a second.
Get up, get dressed, fold the quilt, wash up.
He finished all these tasks within three minutes, then opened the door to his room.
By sheer coincidence, the door opposite him opened at the same time.
Trafalgar D. Water Law.
The boy who walked out from the opposite door was named Law.
Drake nodded at him lightly.
Law nodded in return.
Neither of them spoke. They simply shared a silent understanding and walked down the stairs together.
Upon leaving the main building, they found themselves in a vast square. The only illumination came from the dim lights at the edges, and while the square had seemed grand and majestic during the day, it now had an eerie atmosphere under the night sky.
However, Drake paid no mind to it.
He simply focused on warming up his body—stretching his joints, ligaments, and muscles—preparing for the training ahead.
Once the warm-up was complete, Drake began running, jogging around the entire square.
Law, just like him, followed closely behind. The two boys, who appeared to be a few years apart in age, silently ran through the dimly lit square.
Around half an hour later...
"Up so early again today?" A voice, full of mirth, rang out.
Drake turned his head.
It was Ian, the man who had brought him to the Beast Pirates, stepping out from the main building.
Behind him was the ever-spirited Yamato.
The two of them truly were inseparable.
Drake couldn't help but mentally comment on this.
Have they ever thought about getting married?
He was curious about how terrifying the children of these two monsters would be.
Then he greeted Ian, "Good morning, Lord Ian."
"Keep it up," Ian said, not disturbing their pace. "In this world, only strength will never let you down."
Drake wholeheartedly agreed.
To overthrow the World Government, powerful strength was absolutely indispensable.
That's why he couldn't afford to stop even for a moment.
When he had first arrived at Onigashima a few days ago, he had planned to wake up early to train, only to find that Ian and the others had already begun their training.
Drake had been greatly astonished.
Someone with far more talent and power than him is still more dedicated than he is!
Ian… no wonder he's so powerful!
Besides his ability to charm others, his determination to grow stronger is also extraordinary.
So, Drake believes that, without such talent, he has to work even harder.
The next day, he got up at four in the morning, earlier than everyone else.
By the third day, Law was waking up early with him.
That kid reminded him of his younger self.
No, it's more accurate to say that now, he's become more like Law.
Drake thought to himself. He didn't understand Law in the past, but now, he did.
With that thought, he quickened his pace.
Soon after Ian arrived, Jack, Black Maria, and the Ulti siblings also showed up.
Everyone was training in perfect harmony.
Drake was honestly shocked.
The strength of the Beast Pirates wasn't without reason.
The Ulti siblings were about the same age as Sanji, but their training volume was even greater.
This filled Drake with a sense of urgency.
He was much older than everyone here, yet his strength was at the bottom.
He couldn't accept that fact.
So, Drake worked harder than anyone else.
Carrying a heavy burden, he pushed his body to its limits.
This intense effort continued for about two hours.
"Big Brother Ian! Time to eat!"
Sanji came rushing over, pushing a massive cart with excitement.
Drake knew that the kid actually woke up early, but he didn't spend his time training. Instead, he went to the kitchen and helped the chefs make breakfast.
After all, he was Ian's handpicked chef on the Golden Dragon, and his cooking skills couldn't be lacking.
"Let's all eat first," Ian clapped his hands, signaling everyone to stop.
Drake also set down the heavy barbell in his hands, panting as he walked over to prepare for breakfast.
Although it was breakfast, it was an exceptionally lavish meal since it had been prepared for everyone who had worked hard during their training.
For the main course, there were several options like bread, rice, and noodles.
Roasted meat, roasted fish, salad, cakes, sausages, and pork knuckles were all essential dishes as well.
Drake wasn't picky with food. A few years ago, on that bastard father's ship, there were no special treats—anything that could fill his stomach was fine.
So, his rule was simple: whatever was in front of him, he ate.
Like a starving ghost, he stuffed his face, swallowing food down as if his throat were an abyss that could swallow it all.
Training hard, eating hard, sleeping hard, and getting stronger—that was the path Drake had set for himself.
However, he had to admit, Sanji's cooking was quite good. The breakfast tasted great.
After breakfast, Drake's training continued.
But at that point, Ian didn't keep training.
Mornings were his time for study.
Drake was actually quite surprised. Not only was Ian incredibly powerful, but his knowledge was also quite vast. It was said that he had started studying and reading from a young age, making it a habit to dedicate every morning to learning.
This was quite rare in the largely illiterate Blue Sea, especially considering that he was a pirate. Most pirates, like Yamato, spent their mornings playing around.
Ian is truly remarkable.
To be honest, Drake feels ashamed of himself.
This person is younger than him but stronger, more handsome, wealthier, more powerful, and even more knowledgeable—he's been completely outclassed in every way.
However, Drake thinks that he doesn't have the time to focus on knowledge. Being already behind, he has to put all his energy into getting stronger.
The training team lost two members, but gained one more.
Sanji joined.
"I need to get stronger too!"
The six-year-old Sanji said. "I can't let Ian-nii down!"
Drake knew that the kid was really grateful to Ian for bringing him here. He really liked life on Onigashima; here, he could do anything he wanted.
