Chapter 98: Chapter 98 The Clash of Infinite Strengths
Satoru stood on the wrecked deck, scratching his head with a bemused expression. "I don't get it. What was Kaido thinking, sending you of all people to deal with me?"
Ember's masked face tilted slightly in confusion. "What do you mean by that?"
Satoru chuckled, his six eyes narrowing as he spoke. "Because he should know by now—you're not my opponent."
The statement was barely out of Satoru's mouth when Ember vanished, reappearing in front of him in an instant, his katana slashing down with lethal intent.
"Is this frustration, or are you just reckless?" Satoru's voice carried an air of mockery as Ember's blade stopped mid-air, halted by an invisible force. The masked pirate's face twisted in anger, though it remained unseen beneath his mask.
"Or," Satoru continued casually, "are you acting entirely on your own here?"
"Shut up!" Ember growled, pressing harder against the invisible barrier separating his blade from Satoru.
Despite his efforts, the distance between them remained insurmountable.
"I see," Satoru mused. "So this was your idea. Makes sense. As stupid as Kaido can be, even he wouldn't send his second-in-command to certain death."
The mention of Kaido sent a wave of fury through Ember, his grip on the katana tightening. Memories of Kaido dismissively saying, *"You're no match for him,"* burned in his mind.
"I said, SHUT UP!" Ember roared, his strength surging again, but to no avail.
"You're strong," Satoru admitted, examining the struggling pirate with a curious look. "But you lack one crucial thing—you don't have the Conqueror's Haki. Without it, you don't even have the qualifications to fight me."
Satoru's tone shifted slightly, becoming colder. "Reversal Technique: *Red*."
A blinding white light erupted between the two combatants. The force of the technique split the ship in half and sent Ember hurtling backward, his body flung through the air toward the sea.
Before hitting the water, Ember's body morphed. Black wings sprouted from his back as he transformed into his pterodactyl hybrid form, hovering menacingly above the wreckage.
"Finally," Satoru remarked, watching Ember's monstrous figure. "It's about time you got serious."
With a guttural roar, Ember dived toward Satoru, his wings slicing through the air like twin blades. His attack carried devastating speed and force, creating a shockwave that tore apart what remained of the deck.
"Die, Marine!" Ember snarled, his wings aimed to cut Satoru in half.
But once again, his attack came to an abrupt halt, the same invisible force stopping him in his tracks. Ember's body trembled with exertion as he pushed against the immovable barrier, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"What… is this?" he muttered, beads of sweat forming on his brow.
"It's not you—it's me," Satoru said with a smirk. "You're strong, Ember. But compared to me… you're insignificant."
Satoru's mocking words drove Ember into a frenzy. He opened his jaws, unleashing a massive fireball toward Satoru. The explosion consumed the marine entirely, flames spreading across the wreckage.
Hovering above the destruction, Ember smirked. "Did it work?" he muttered, half hopeful, half skeptical.
As the flames dissipated, Satoru stood in the same spot, untouched. His pristine uniform and calm demeanor were a stark contrast to the wreckage around him.
"That was cute," Satoru said casually.
"Impossible!" Ember roared, his voice trembling with frustration. "How can you survive such a direct hit?"
"I told you already," Satoru replied, his tone laced with amusement. "It's not about surviving. You never even touched me."
"What are you talking about?" Ember demanded, desperation seeping into his voice.
Satoru held up a hand. "Here, I'll make it simple for you. Put your hand against mine."
Suspicious but curious, Ember reached out, attempting to press his palm against Satoru's. To his shock, his hand stopped short, as if an invisible wall stood between them.
"No matter how close you get," Satoru explained, "there's always an infinite distance between us. It's my ability, *Limitless*. Your attacks can't reach me because they can't overcome that infinite space."
Ember's eyes widened in realization, the full weight of Satoru's power dawning on him.
"But here's the kicker," Satoru continued, stepping forward. "You can't touch me… but I can touch you."
Before Ember could react, Satoru grabbed his arm with an iron grip.
"Not good!" Ember thought, panic setting in. He struggled to free himself, but Satoru's strength was unrelenting.
Satoru's free hand clenched into a fist, glowing faintly with energy. "Let's fix that attitude of yours," he said, driving a series of punches into Ember's abdomen.
Each blow sent shockwaves through Ember's body, forcing blood to spill from his mouth. Yet, even as the blood splattered, none of it touched Satoru.
"Damn you!" Ember growled, his left hand wrapping itself in Haki as he swung at Satoru.
This time, his fist connected.
"Not bad," Satoru remarked, meeting Ember's glare. "But this isn't over yet."
The clash of their wills had only just begun.
