Otaku Witch

Chapter 76: Eye of True Sight 68

"Senior, senior, can I take the test here? If not, I'll go ask elsewhere?"

Dorothy waited for a while, and seeing the intellectual senior before her not responding, she couldn't help but urge her.

At Witch Academy, there were more than one club with the qualification for school examinations, and many medium to large clubs had this function.

However, a typical club would often focus on one school, thus usually only possessing the qualification to examine for that particular school; clubs that had the qualifications for multiple schools were few, generally only a few academically elite clubs formed by top students had this capability.

The Eye of True Sight Club, where she was currently, was the leader among such academic clubs, ranked second among the top hundred clubs of the academy, a long-standing prestigious academic club.

And from the rather familiar-sounding name of this club, one could tell who backed it.

Indeed, it was the surveillance agency under the Council of Sages—the All-Seeing Eye, the mysterious department responsible for issuing witch ID cards and adjudicating Witch Ranks.

Well, government agencies need fresh blood too, and the Eye of True Sight Club was the All-Seeing Eye's recruitment outpost at Witch Academy, where outstanding members of the club could directly join the All-Seeing Eye after graduation, becoming the enviable witch civil servants.

Dorothy wasn't very familiar with the treatment other departments' civil servants received, but the treatment in the All-Seeing Eye was truly impressive; staff were paid not in Witch Gold Yuan but in equivalent Library Points.

Well, the value of Library Points speaks for itself. Just this alone meant working in this department was a coveted opportunity for all witches on the Path of Omniscience. After all, who would complain about having too many Library Points?

It's just unfortunate that the threshold to join the Eye of True Sight Club was rather high, not wanting anyone less than top scholars or academic monstrosities. After all, their future task would be to maintain and analyze the entire database of the Witch World and adjudicate all Witch Ranks—tasks that required a solid knowledge base or extremely high intelligence.

Hence, you could easily infer that most of the top scholars from the academy were in this club, and understandably, the Eye of True Sight had become the only club at Witch Academy that could conduct examinations for all schools.

This was precisely why Audrey suggested that Dorothy should come here as soon as she heard she wanted to take the exams for all schools.
Your journey continues on empire

However, looking at the club president before her, who seemed not to have the best mental fortitude, Dorothy began to wonder if the club's reputation was just a facade.

"No, sorry, my lady, I was too surprised. Please wait, I will arrange the exam for you. But before that, are you sure you want to take the preliminary qualification exam for eight and a half schools simultaneously?"

After taking a few deep breaths to regain her composure, Dina, the senior, adjusted her monocle and looked straight at the seemingly uninformed junior before her before finally confirming.

This junior was too audacious. Dina, the president of the Eye of True Sight, had been consistently praised by college professors as an academic genius, claiming her learning abilities were among the best in witch history.

Though Dina never took the professors' praise at face value, she had always been proud of her abilities.

After all, she had indeed stood at the pinnacle among the academic elites of Witch Academy, dominating the field single-handedly.

Now at 26, in her 15th year at Witch Academy, Dina had passed the preliminary exams for six out of the Nine Major Schools. Even some less talented teachers exclaimed there was nothing left to teach her. She had never relaxed in her studies and research, often studying so hard she'd forget to sleep or eat.

She had both talent and diligence, yet even she had not dared to boast about taking exams for all nine schools. So, my dear junior, my lady, from where did you muster the courage to utter such reckless words? Are you looking down on studying, disrespecting knowledge?

Initially cautious of the authority of the Student Council President, she had been treating this junior with courtesy, but now, feeling her beliefs and aspirations insulted, Dina was getting angry.

Today, she was going to see how this junior managed to take exams for nine schools. If this young lady failed today, Dina swore that she would ensure that the entire academic circle of the academy would no longer welcome such a reckless person.

Of course, if she actually succeeded, Dina would gladly vacate her position as president to her, even bowing in respect and acknowledging her as a master.

Uh...

Dorothy, keenly aware of the apparent irritation in her senior in front of her, felt somewhat bewildered.

So, you see, socializing with people is just troublesome. I simply made a normal request, never intending to offend anyone or break any rules, but there always seems to be someone who inexplicably starts to lose their temper, which is annoying.

However, she didn't care much about it, since they were not close to begin with. Why should she care if a stranger gets angry? Dorothy's heart was small, only big enough to care for the feelings of her relatives and friends, and indifferent to the opinions and emotions of strangers.

More than the reason for the senior's anger, she was interested in what the senior had to say.

"Eight and a half gates? Wasn't it the Nine Gates?"

She frowned, slightly puzzled as she asked.

In response, Dina also repressed the anger in her heart and finally explained.

"The Combat Magic School's assessment includes tactical theory and actual combat, the latter of which is not managed by our club. You need to go to the neighboring Armed Society for the combat assessment."

Upon hearing this, Dorothy finally realized.

The Combat Magic School, simply put, specialized in battle-focused Mage Schools or more precisely, the Melee Mage School. Witches from this school fought more like Martial Artists than Mages; they were considered the heretics within the Path of Omniscience, the brutes among intellectuals.

Such a practical combat school naturally required a real fight to determine its assessment, and academic research societies like the Eye of True Sight were indeed not quite suitable for such combat assessments.

"Alright then, eight and a half gates it is. Senior, I'm ready anytime to begin," Dorothy agreed.

Although she found it annoying that she couldn't get all the exams done at once, Dorothy was not unreasonable. She nodded in agreement right away.

"Then the examination begins, young lady."

Dina's monocle reflected a cold light as she smirked and snapped her fingers.

Suddenly, the scenery around Dorothy transformed, and looking around, she found herself no longer in the previous office but in a vast void.

Apart from a laboratory table, there were no other objects in front of her.

However, Dorothy was not very panicked, as Dina's voice soon echoed in the void.

"We now commence the primary qualification exam for the School, with this session focusing on Potion Studies. I am your examiner, Dina..."

"I am the proctor, Hettie..."

"I am the proctor, Jane..."

....

"Candidates, please listen to the question... please complete the potion formulation within the time limit."

Following the introductions of the examiner and the proctors, the exam quickly began. As the exam question was announced, the corresponding props swiftly appeared on the laboratory table in front of Dorothy.

In response, Dorothy relaxed. Confidently, she approached the laboratory table and performed her alchemy, flowing smoothly and artfully like performing an art.

.... the little witch in the midst of her exam......
