Chapter 16 - A Craze for Exotic Food (3)
Pale skin, white hair, and bloodshot eyes filled with madness.
A combination of these traits in the form of a cute girl?
‘I need to run away immediately.’
But if someone didn’t realize the danger from that alone…
Then the only thing left was to die.
“Grrr?”
“Slurp.”
When that girl, whose heart was clearly pierced, gazed down at the deer with sparkling eyes.
“Graaa! Guh.”
The deer no longer existed.
There wasn’t even a fierce battle or anything like that.
“Wow, this is deer. Excellent protein…”
Holding what once was a deer, or perhaps something that was now a mutated demon beast, the girl left the scene.
*
“Wow, I better never mess with that.”
If one attack from a deer could penetrate her, then her defense stat must be low.
But if she was undead, that was a different story.
Defense stats would be meaningless.
I instinctively realized that the mysterious girl was ‘Diehard Vampire.’
No, even if I didn’t want to, it was impossible not to recognize her.

Diehard Vampire: Demon Beast Deer, this is truly processed! Will the orange label also taste good?
(A picture of the horrifically crushed former-deer-something)
Head Moderator☆: Uh-huh.
Sure, eat as much as you’d like.
Full Elf: Hieek!
She blatantly left a proof shot of her actions.
Well, thanks to that, the situation ended without significant casualties, which was fortunate.
“Without the gallery members, there is no gallery.”
And maybe, thanks to Diehard Vampire’s unintended help.
Mentions of her, which had been banned in the gallery, gradually started surfacing again.
– “Censorship removal approved, lol.”
– “If we survived thanks to her, it’s worth it.”
– “Is it okay to mention her without dying now?”
– “Thank you, goat, for saving my life.”
Especially, the complaints that most of Diehard Vampire’s posts were ignored began to disappear.

I was bored stuck in the castle, but this was a fun toy.
I hope I can go out again next time.

1. Market-sold chicken
2. Blood-flavored tomato juice
3. Hunt a demon beast even though it’s annoying
I’m hungry. But it’s such a hassle.
Right now, my mood feels like something jott.

Even meaningless, poorly translated posts like these were starting to get upvotes.

There were even occasional comments!
ㄴ (Author) Reply, it’s been so long since the last response.
ㄴ “Hiiiek, sorry, sorry, sorry, I won’t arrogantly comment carelessly again.”
ㄴ (Author) Curious.
Although it didn’t go much further than that.
I was watching all this chaos through one system.
Even eating the slime noodles that Full Elf had bartered to me.
“Tastes pretty good.”
Of course, it was just cut-off at the level of banquet noodles.
Maybe the people here had unusually low standards for taste.
The fact that an average canned tuna, which tasted fine, was considered one of the top-quality meals here said it all.
As I unintentionally wrapped up the situation well, I was browsing the trending posts while eating the slime noodles.
**Title: So, What Do We Do Now?**
“What.”
A suspicious post had appeared.
(A gif of a troll scratching its head)
ㄴ …?
ㄴ What?
ㄴ Is this trolling?
– (Author) Honestly, wasn’t it just luck that we managed to catch one wave? Isn’t the festival vibe a bit much already?
ㄴ What’s with this jerk?
ㄴ Everyone’s fine with it, why are you complaining?
ㄴ Is this person a chaos-stirrer from another gallery?
ㄴ Elf balance supporter.
Of course, countless requests for a handshake were flooding in.
Still, the author’s adamant stance didn’t waver.
ㄴ (Author) No, and even the capture this time was thanks to the censorship-deletion moderator. Without them, there would’ve been heavy losses. Besides, there’s no guarantee that another wave won’t happen. Isn’t it a bit much to celebrate already?
ㄴ …
ㄴ *喝!!!!!!!!!!!*
It was a sharp statement that couldn’t be ignored.
“Was that so?”
I had also let my guard down as soon as the demon beast deer died.
The post snapped me back to reality.
This time we passed safely, but what about the next time?
And the time after that?
If we kept fumbling every time, the gallery would eventually turn into a disaster gallery.
“No way, not after all the effort Head Moderator put in!”
Although the post was quickly deleted for being marked as chaos-stirring, I started searching through the shop’s weapon category.
“I need something to prepare for situations like this.”
And then I found a weapon.
**[High-Explosive Grenade] – 30 Points**
It was a ridiculously overpowered modern weapon affordable even with a middle schooler’s allowance.
But there was one problem.
“So, just how strong are those things?”
The only demon beast I had encountered so far was the weak one.
Not knowing the ecosystem of demon beasts in this world at all, I felt uneasy.
Why, even just skimming reincarnation novels, wasn’t it a cliché that modern weapons couldn’t kill demon beasts?
“There’s no way this place also has some rule where only mana awakeners can kill demon beasts, right?”
A sudden wave of fear came over me.
At times like this, the fastest way was to ask the gallery.
**Title: I Don’t Get It. The Mutated Deer is So Weak;**
Author: Head Moderator☆
That’s a lie.
No, why is the mutated deer so strong?
I felt alarmed enough to prepare a weapon, but I don’t know if this will actually work against the demon beast.
It’s basically an explosive weapon.
– “Head Mod, are you seriously going to title your post like this?”
– “Attention-grabbing as always, Orange.”
– “Orange is seriously such a clown.”
– “Orange strikes again as a comedy thief.”
– “Why does this guy, despite being the Head Mod, write clickbait titles?”
– “Oh, so Head Mod is a mage now?”
– “You need to tell us the explosion range and casting time for calculations.”
– “And let us know how much mana it consumes.”
ㄴ “Look at these mages losing their minds, lol.”
ㄴ “Ugh, I can smell mana all the way over here.”
ㄴ Head Moderator☆) Uh, fine.
ㄴ Head Moderator☆) Roughly a 15m explosion radius, with a 7-second prep time, including setup.
ㄴ Head Moderator☆) And there’s no mana consumption.
ㄴ “Are you kidding? Isn’t that basically an Archmage?”
ㄴ “Stop lying, you jerk.”
ㄴ “No, I was seriously reading, and now you’re telling me 10 seconds, no mana? Do you want to die?”
“No, I’m serious.”
In fact, it was a high-explosive grenade.
There are countless types of grenades, and this was just one of them.
ㄴ Head Moderator☆) No, I’m genuinely asking.
ㄴ Head Moderator☆) Can this even hurt that deer demon beast?
ㄴ “Hurt? It’ll probably turn it into powder.”
ㄴ “Head Mod, stop imagining weird things and go eat your meal.”
ㄴ “Head Mod, take your vitamins.”
“Okay, I see how capable you guys are.”
So high-explosive grenades sound like Archmage-level gear to them, huh?
Time to show this otherworldly civilization a little taste of modern power.
But as I pondered when to use it, the opportunity presented itself without delay.
– “Damn, another wave is coming.”
– “Turns out the demon deer was just the starter…jpg.”
– “This time, it’s Elad?”
– “RIP. Looks like Elad’s going down too.”
A perfect test subject appeared of its own accord.
*
The Elves’ Forest, Elad.
Even during the Great War, they had hidden themselves, minimizing damage, but that was a thing of the past.
“Lady Eliana! A new wave has appeared!”
“What? How is that possible…”
Eliana’s expression darkened at the hurried report from the elf knight who rushed in.
A wave had struck again, not long after the demon deer appeared.
But if that was the extent of it, it wouldn’t be too bad.
Although challenging, deploying their army could handle it.
At least, if it were a normal wave.
“Graaa!”
What appeared in Elad was none other than a Bone Dragon.
A creature that clashed entirely with the green forest, it wasn’t a demon beast native to Elad.
It had likely crawled over from the far eastern regions that had sparked the Great War and found its way here.
The elves guarding the kingdom’s outskirts all had visibly trembling gazes.
As a long-lived race, it was impossible not to recognize that dragon.
It was the very demon beast that had massacred countless elves and vanished long before the outbreak of the Great War.
“Lady Eliana! What should we do?”
Eliana entered the gallery.
And, as expected, the gallery’s latest posts were quickly filled with eyewitness accounts of the Bone Dragon from the elves.
– “I’m an elf, and I just saw the Bone Dragon. Gasp.”
– “What’s the point of living so long if this happens…”
– “Is this real? We’re totally screwed.”
– “What the heck is this?”
– “Why the sudden change in language here, lol.”
Even the elves couldn’t seem to keep their composure.
But the biggest problem was this:
“We have no way to stop that.”
No weapons.
No weapon capable of cutting through that steel-like bone, not even an ordinary one.
Elves, lacking blacksmithing skills, had always relied on humans for weapons, and since the Great War, weapon supplies had been nonexistent.
What they had left were wooden arrows and magic.
“Graaa!”
“Don’t let it reach the inner part of Elad! Fire!”
Eliana’s shout snapped the elves to attention, and they aimed their bows.
Each was an outstanding archer and knight.
Swoosh!
With unbelievable strength from their thin arms, they pulled their bowstrings.
Each shot was a menacing, unavoidable threat.
Ping.
But only in battles against other people.
Against a massive demon beast like that, it didn’t leave even a scratch.
“It’s not working!”
“Lady Eliana! We need to retreat and bring stronger weapons!”
The elves’ desperate cries and ineffective attacks filled the air.
Then, a massive fireball descended upon the elves.
“Aaah!”
“It’s hot!!”
Even the elves skilled in magic couldn’t stop the widespread flames.
But retreating to retrieve weapons was also not an option.
– “Elves will face divine punishment even in death.”
– “The world ended up like this because of you elves.”
– “A garbage race that should never have existed.”
‘No one will lend us any help.’
The elves themselves knew this well.
The level of hatred for elves in the gallery was sky-high.
While it was sometimes played off as a meme, half of it stemmed from genuine hatred and disdain.
It was an undeniable fact that the elves’ lack of cooperation during the Great War had led to their losses.
That was also why Eliana, a Full Elf, despised her own kind.
‘See, if only they had come to their senses earlier…’
No matter how many times she had told them to open up, they hadn’t listened, and now this was the result.
“Lady Eliana, look out!”
An elf archer pushed Eliana aside.
“Aaah!”
The elf who had taken the fireball in Eliana’s place rolled on the ground, their arm burned.
“No!”
Eliana quickly grabbed the elf and dodged away, but she couldn’t gain much distance.
All she could still see was elves dying and burning before her eyes.
Despair flickered in Eliana’s gaze.
Just then, a notification popped up in the administrator chat.
