Our Multiverse Adventure as Gokaigers

Chapter 21: Kidnapped

"What are you doing here!!??" The both of us exclaimed at the same time.

*Tap* *tap* *tap* *tap*

(Someone's coming!)

I gently closed the door as not to make a sound and quickly put my hand on Aoi's mouth as I gestured her to stay quiet.

She tried to struggle at first until the footsteps became loud enough for her to hear. The footsteps stop in front of the door.

I put my hand on the katana handle, ready to pull it out.

"I could've sworn I heard something."

After a few seconds, the person went back downstairs.

"*Phew* That was close." I released the breath I was holding in before slowly lifting my hand off her mouth.

"*Fuwa* Ren-san, what are you doing here? Wait..."

"Are you here to rescue me?" Her eyes brightened up as she asked the question.

"Sorry to say this but no, I'm not." I showed her a troubled smile.

"I'm investigating about a demon in this district."

"Oh..." Her mood visibly went down.

"By the way, can you tell me why you're here dressed like that?" I pointed to her face.

"My face?... eeep! She screamed a bit before quickly covering her face with her hands.

(Wahhh! Why did Ren-san had to see this face! Nooo! What will he think of me now! Will he think of me as someone working here!? Ahhh! It's all that man's fault!)

"Hey Aoi. Aoi." I snapped my fingers in front of her face and that seems to make her come back to reality.

"...yes, Ren-san?" She said while still covering her face.

"Can you tell me why you are here?"

"Well, it started a few days ago. I was doing the laundry as usual when I heard screams from the front..."

---------------------------------------------

"Kyaaa!! Please let her go!!"

"I don't want to go!!"

"Please stop!!"

"Hey, you guys! Stop it! Get off me!!" A man screamed as two girls dangled on his arms.

"Knock it off! It's getting annoying!" The girl in his arms continued to struggle as the other two scream for help.

"Somebody, please help us!!"

"It's a kidnapping!"

"You little dumb brats..." The man face showed an ugly expression. "I need a female corps member for an important mission! It's not a kidnapping, I'm just borrowing her!!"

The girls continued to hang onto the man when a voice came from behind.

"Please wait!"

Naho and Sumi turned to look who it was.

"Aoi-san!"

"I'll go!" Aoi stepped forward.

"She's not a member of the corps and she can't fight. So, please let her go." Aoi bowed her head.

Aoi took a deep breath. "I'll come with you in her place."

"But Aoi-san...you..." Naho and Sumi were moved by Aoi's brave words, but they also noticed her hands shaking.

"It's fine right?" Aoi hands were shaking as she tries to be brave for the girls' safety.

"I'll be more useful than her."

"Oh, ok. I'll take you then." Tengen drop Kiyo and quickly carried Aoi over his shoulder.

"Now, we're short on time so let's head out!"

"W-Wait. I need to take my nichirin sword." Aoi tried to push herself off him.

"We don't have time. And you won't be needing it anyway." Tengen got into a running position and said, "The place we're heading is the red-light district." before he took off in a burst of speed.

"Ehhh...the red-light district??!!"

(Is he going to sell me to make money!? Bu-But he's a Harisha. He wouldn't do something like that, r-right? Uwa! Ren-san, Kocho-sama, save me!!!)

The three girls watched as Aoi disappeared into the distance in the arms of the Sound Hashira.

"Oh no! What should we do now Sumo-chan?"

"I don't know Kiyo-chan. What should we do!?"

"Sumo-chan, Kiyo-chan, we can't help Aoi-san by ourselves. Let's go ask Oyakata-sama for help.

"But-But what is he's busy?"

"We have to try. For Aoi-san!"

"For Aoi-san!!"

----------Time-skip----------

After a few hours of travel, they arrived at the entrance of the Red-Light District. Uzui finally let Aoi down.

"Follow me and don't stand out."

Aoi nodded her head while holding her stomach and mouth.

"Well, it should be easy for you. You're quite plain after all." Tengen touched his forehead.

"But I'm afraid that my flashiness might give us away. Hehehehe."

(Ugh, I feel like I might throw up. Mostly from being carried all the way here, but his voice isn't helping either.)

They entered a house with the wisteria crest. Uzui requested some clothes to the owner before heading to a room with Aoi. He sat down in the middle of the room with his feet crossed.

"Listen closely. Once you infiltrated the Red-light district, first, look for my wife. I'll be looking around for information as well."

"Wife?"

"Yeah, my wives infiltrated the Red-Light District to collect information about a demon. Our regular contacts were cut off not too long ago, so I'm going too."

(How horrible! He even sold his own wife. How much heartless can he be! Even if it's for information about demon, this is the Red-light district you know. If they want to rise up in position, they have to ...)

(Ahhhh! There's no use thinking about this now. It's his choice anyway.) Aoi shook her head to get those thoughts out of her head.

"During our intel gathering, we've narrow it down to three houses by finding a pattern in the recent disappearance and death of the residents."

He pointed his finger at her. "Your current objective is to find Hinatsuru of the Kyougoku house or at least information related to her."

"I will go investigate the other two houses by myself."

*Knock* *Knock*

"Pardon me, I have brought the items that you've requested." The owner opened the door and placed a box inside the room.

"Thanks."

"What is this?"

"Something related to the mission." Tengen opened the box and took out a yukata. After that, he passed the box to Aoi.

"What's this?" Aoi look inside the box.

"Make-up?"

"Yeah, you saw the girls on the way here, right? Put it on yourself to look like them."

"What! B-But that would mean..."

"If you don't know how, I can do it for you." Uzui offered with a kind smile.

"No! No! No! It's ok! I can do it by myself!"

"Then get to it. We don't have a lot of time." Tengen pointed at the door.

After waiting for a while, Aoi came in front of Tengen wearing the clothes and make-up that the manager brought.

"Hmm, I've seen better, but you pass." He gives her a thumbs up.

(I don't want your approval! Ahhh! So frustrating!) Aoi tried her best to smile at Uzui and not hit him.

"Now, it's time for the hard part." Tengen cracked his neck with a serious air around him.

*Glup*

-------------

"Well ma'am, don't you think your house need a girl like her? She can do every house chore you ask, cook and for a limited time only, she's only half the price of a normal sale! So, what do you think ma'am?"

"Well..."

"I'm sure a wise and thoughtful person such as yourself wouldn't pass up this deal. She's only half the price, you know. A deal like this don't come too often."

"We'd love to accept but..."

"Ma'am, don't rush with that decision too soon. If you're worried about any defects about her, you can check her yourself."

"Personally, I wouldn't offer the deal but I'm moving to a different city far away, and I can't take any merchandise with me. With your talent, I'm sure she can become very popular."

"Oh well, fine. We'll take her in." The women handed Tengen the money.

"Thank you, ma'am! I'm sure you won't regret it!"

-------------------

One day later,

(Thank goodness I haven't been put up to work at night. For now, I just have to find out information about Uzui-san's wife. I can do this!)

Another day later,

Aoi is seen walking in the hallway, looking around for any clues about Tengen Uzui's wife. She was also tired from doing chores around the building for the whole day.

(Ahh, I'm so tired from working without a break. At least I had the help of Kiyo, Naho and Sumo-chan at the Butterfly Mansion. This building may be huge, but it doesn't have many girls doing cleaning and other chores.)

(And it seems like I won't get any useful information from asking the people here. For some reason they avoid talking about Hinatsuru every time I brought her up. I should do some personal investigation. Let's start from the most deserted room in the west building.)

Aoi searched the room a couple of times but didn't find any clues. She quietly made sure no one was around before existing the room before heading back to her room. She took a short-cut from the main building to get back to her room.

"Ohoho, a cute girl. Why don't I take her for a change." The male customer appeared from a corner, approached Aoi with a perverted look, touched her chest and squeezed it.

*Boin*

(Kyaaaa!) Blood rushed to her face and her anger went through the roof.

"DIE!" Aoi, without thinking, punched the customer in the face. Although Aoi wasn't working as a proper demon slayer, she was still stronger than normal people because of the training she went through. In short, her punch knocked him out cold.

"Kyaa! She hit him!" A nearby girl screamed after seeing the scene unfold.

"The new girl hit a customer!"

The commotion attracted the attention of other girls and the owner.

"What's going on here!" The owner arrived at the scene with an angry face.

The girls who saw Aoi punched the male customer quickly explained the situation to her.

"You two, take him into one of the empty rooms and apologize to him when he wakes up."

"Tell him that I said, I'll sure to punish her and that his stay for the night will have a discount the next time he comes here." The owner quickly ordered the girls to help the guy up and took him away to the other side of the building.

After that, the owner turned her attention to Aoi.

"And you, you won't be given food for three days! Anyone who's caught feeding her will also go through the same punishment as her!" The owner looked the hallway around with a glare.

Then she pointed at Aoi and said, "Now go wash the dishes in the back and make yourself useful!"

"...Yes, ma'am."

Aoi lowered her head and went into the back to start cleaning the dirty dishes.

(*Sigh* It's only been two days, but I really miss the Butterfly mansion. What if there is an emergency with an injured Demon Slayer. I think Kocho-sama can handle it. There's also Kiyo-chan and the rest to help her. I hope they're fine.)

Aoi who was immersed in her thoughts didn't hear a voice called out from behind her.

"-oi-chan. Aoi-chan. Aoi-chan!"

Aoi, startled by the voice, turned around and saw a girl that was about her age.

"Yes, do you need anything?"

"Let me help you with those." The girl pointed at the dishes.

"But the owner asked me to do these. If you get caught helping me..."

"It's fine if I don't get caught, right? Here." The girl handed Aoi a piece of bread.

"But..."

"It's fine. It's fine." Then she crouched down and started washing the dishes without asking for Aoi.

"Oh, by the way, my name is Mina. Nice to meet you." She gave a small encouraging smile toward Aoi.

"Umm. Thank you for helping me, Mina-san."

"No problem Aoi-chan. If there's anything you need, don't be afraid to ask me, alright?"

"Yes." Aoi replied with a smile.

------------------------------------

"I see." I nodded.

"Then what were you doing in this room?"

"I was searching this room for any clues I could find. Uzui-sama told me to search for information about a demon or his wife, but I haven't found any yet."

"I already went through two rooms before searching this one. Then you showed up here Ren-san."

"When are you supposed to meet Uzui-san?"

"I have to meet him tomorrow morning on the building near the restaurant northeast of here."

"Ok. For now, let's get out of here." I opened a window for us to jump out.

"Yes?"

"I have reason to believe that a demon is in this house and I have a suspect about who it is. I'll go with you to meet Uzui-san tomorrow to tell him about it."

"The demon isn't here at the moment. We should leave before it comes back."

"Umm...Sorry Ren-san. But I can't go with you just yet."

"Why not? I told you there's a demon here and you don't have your nichirin sword."

"But if there's a demon in this house, shouldn't we warn the people about it?"

"No, it'll only make the demon disappear. I have reasons to believe that the demon is disguising itself as a human. It wouldn't attract attention to itself if it's hiding, So, it shouldn't kill any people. (Or at least not too much.)

"Sorry, Ren-san but I have to gather all of my belongings and say my thanks to Mina-san before I go."

"Mina-san?"

"Yes. She looked out for me when I started this. She shared her food and helped me with my punishments."

"She was kind to me so, I have to repay her." Her eyes were full of determination.

I took a deep breath to calm myself. (This is so stupid. I could just save myself the trouble and knock her out. *Sigh* But this is the kind of person I want to be.)

"Fine. I will come to the building tomorrow morning. We should go out before someone comes back."

"But what should I do about the search?"

"Stop the search for now. It's for your own safety. And here-" I handed her some kunai and some smoke bombs.

"Take these."

"Wha-"

"When you encounter a demon, throw down a smoke bomb and run away. Don't try to fight it."

"Ok."

"I'll see you tomorrow."

"Umm. Take care Ren-san."

"Also, if you are given something by anyone during your stay, don't accept it no matter what. I have reason to believe that the demon is collecting people that way without being noticed."

"Yes, Ren-san."

I nodded and jumped out the window into the night.

Meanwhile,

(Hmm, according to the anime and manga, the entrance to the underground pit should be around here.)
