Overwatch system in Mha

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Whatever you choose, kid

The rhythmic hum of the train filled the cabin as it raced from Osaka toward Kyoto. Aizawa leaned back in his seat, his trademark scarf draped loosely over his shoulders, though his sharp gaze flicked between Mirko, All Might, and Lucio. The boy sat quietly, his face pressed against the window, watching the countryside blur past.

Lucio's expression was distant, yet thoughtful, a clear reflection of the weight he carried. Beside him, Mirko leaned forward, arms crossed, her energy as restless as ever. All Might sat with a calm demeanor, but his eyes betrayed his concern, flickering toward Lucio every few seconds.

Aizawa cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "We need to talk about what happens next."

Mirko raised an eyebrow. "You mean after we get to Kyoto? I thought the plan was to leave the kid with Asa for a while."

Aizawa shook his head. "It's not that simple. Asa might be capable, but she isn't equipped to handle every potential threat. Widowmaker is still out there—maybe gone for now—but there's no guarantee her employer won't send someone else. Lucio isn't safe unless we take more...permanent measures."

Lucio turned from the window, curiosity and a flicker of fear in his eyes. "Permanent measures?"

Aizawa leaned forward, locking eyes with the boy. "I'm suggesting you come to UA High. The campus is one of the most secure locations in Japan. It has resources, staff, and students who can protect you. And more importantly, you'd be under my watch. Constantly."

Lucio hesitated, glancing toward All Might and Mirko. "UA? You mean the hero school? But... I'm not a hero. I don't even have a Quirk."

Mirko grinned. "Kid, you don't need a Quirk to be tough. You've survived more than most kids your age could ever imagine. Besides, UA isn't just about Quirks. It's about training your mind and spirit. You've got potential. Asa wouldn't be training you otherwise."

Lucio looked uncertain, his fingers gripping the edge of his seat. "But...what about Asa? She's been helping me. She promised to teach me, and I trust her."

All Might spoke up, his voice kind but firm. "Young Lucio, Asa's guidance is invaluable, and no one's suggesting you abandon her. But Aizawa is right. UA provides an additional layer of security. We could even arrange for Asa to continue training you while you're there."

Aizawa nodded. "She could act as a mentor, similar to how professional heroes sometimes work with students. But the decision ultimately rests with you, Lucio. Do you want to stay with Asa, or do you want to come to UA and work toward becoming something more?"

Lucio's gaze darted between the heroes, his mind clearly wrestling with the options. "I don't know... I've already lost so much. I just want to feel... safe. And I want to make sure what happened to my parents doesn't happen to anyone else."

Mirko patted his shoulder, her voice uncharacteristically soft. "Whatever you choose, kid, we'll back you up. You've got a chance to make a difference. Whether it's with Asa or at UA, you'll find your path."

The train began to slow as Kyoto loomed on the horizon. Lucio took a deep breath, meeting Aizawa's steady gaze. "Can I think about it? At least until we reach Kyoto? I want to talk to Asa before I decide."

Aizawa nodded. "Fair enough. But don't take too long. The sooner we secure your safety, the better."

Lucio's thoughts churned with the weight of the decision ahead. Uncertainty lingered, but deep down, a spark of determination had ignited. He knew he couldn't stay on the sidelines forever.

Lucio leaned against the glass of the train window, the countryside of Japan rushing past in a blur. Despite the motion, his mind was anything but still. The voices of Aizawa, Mirko, and All Might faded into the background as a familiar sensation stirred within him—a faint hum, almost like a whisper, deep in his thoughts.

"Lucio," the voice resonated softly, cutting through his racing thoughts.

He stiffened slightly, recognizing the voice of the Overwatch system. It had spoken to him only once before, back in Asa's home, when everything felt as though it had crumbled around him.

"Now's not the time," Lucio murmured under his breath, careful to keep his voice low so the others wouldn't hear.

"It's precisely the time," the system countered. "You are at a crossroads, one that will define your path forward. Your decision to train at UA, alongside Asa, will set the foundation for what lies ahead."

Lucio frowned, keeping his gaze fixed on the passing scenery. "I don't even know if I'm ready for that. Everyone's talking about me like I'm supposed to be some hero or something. I'm just a kid."

The system's tone softened, an odd combination of mechanical and almost parental care. "Heroes are not born fully formed. They are shaped by the challenges they face and the choices they make. You have already shown resilience in the face of unimaginable loss. That is your foundation."

Lucio let the words sink in, his hands clenching slightly in his lap. "Even if I wanted to, I don't have the strength to do what they're asking. I don't have a Quirk. I can't do what they do."

"You underestimate yourself, Lucio," the system replied. "Your abilities are not bound by a Quirk. They are bound by your will and your desire to protect others. The skills and tools you have inherited through me are ready to be activated, passively aiding you when the time comes."

"What do you mean?" Lucio asked quietly, his curiosity piqued despite himself.

"You possess latent abilities, designed for survival, adaptation, and ultimately leadership. These abilities will manifest gradually, allowing you to learn and grow without overwhelming you. But their full potential depends on your willingness to face the unknown."

Lucio exhaled, his breath fogging the glass. "So you're saying... I can't run from this?"

"You can," the system admitted, its tone neutral. "But running will not bring peace or safety. Training with Asa and at UA will allow you to hone your skills, protect yourself, and, in time, protect others. This is your path, Lucio. But it is your choice."

The words hung in his mind like a weight, heavy but oddly comforting. Lucio glanced at the others—Mirko's fiery determination, All Might's calm strength, Aizawa's steady patience. They believed in him, even if he didn't fully believe in himself yet.

"Alright," Lucio muttered to the system, his voice barely audible. "I'll think about it. But don't expect me to just... become some hero overnight."

"Growth takes time," the system replied. "But every journey begins with a single step. Trust in yourself, Lucio. You are stronger than you know."

As the hum of the system faded, Lucio sat back in his seat, his resolve hardening. Whatever came next, he knew he couldn't face it alone. But with Asa, the heroes, and the strange, guiding presence of the system, he had a chance.

For now, that was enough.

The train rattled gently as it sped toward Kyoto, a calm contrast to the storm brewing within Lucio's mind. The quiet discussions between Aizawa, Mirko, and All Might hadn't gone unnoticed by him. He knew they were debating his future, but he couldn't shake the lingering voice of the Overwatch system from earlier.

Finally, he took a deep breath and looked up. "I'll go to UA," he said firmly, drawing the attention of the three heroes.

Mirko's eyebrows lifted in approval. "That's the spirit, kid!"

"But," Lucio interjected, holding up a hand, "there are conditions."

Aizawa folded his arms and gave him a sharp look. "Conditions?"

"Yes." Lucio's voice didn't waver, though his heart raced. "I want Asa and Kiriko with me. I don't trust anyone else, and Asa's already been helping me. I need her."

Mirko gave Aizawa a sidelong glance. "Makes sense. The kid needs a familiar face around. Besides, Asa's proven herself."

"Fine," Aizawa relented with a sigh.

"And one more thing," Lucio added. "I need the freedom to invent. If I'm going to be at UA, I want to work on tech—my tech."

Aizawa's expression tightened, but All Might smiled kindly. "That's a reasonable request, young Lucio. Your ingenuity could be a great asset, even in training."

Lucio nodded, but the weight on his chest didn't lift. He clenched his fists, looking at the heroes with a mixture of determination and desperation. "There's something else I need to know. Why were my parents murdered? What did they do to deserve this? Why was I targeted?"

The train went eerily silent. All Might's expression shifted from gentle to troubled, his jaw tightening. Aizawa opened his mouth to interrupt, but Mirko raised a hand, stopping him. "The kid deserves the truth," she said bluntly.

All Might hesitated but finally nodded. "Very well." He turned to Lucio, his eyes heavy with sorrow. "Your parents, Lucio, were visionaries. They dreamed of a world where heroes could collaborate across borders—a global network of heroes, united to face challenges that no single nation could handle alone. They called this vision... Overwatch."

Lucio's breath hitched. "Overwatch?"

"Yes," All Might confirmed. "But not everyone shared their ideals. Some saw it as a threat—an organization with the potential to upset the balance of power. Those individuals banded together to stop it before it could even begin. They placed a bounty on your parents' heads... and yours."

Lucio's fists trembled as he whispered, "And who... who killed them?"

All Might hesitated again, but Mirko's sharp gaze urged him on. "An assassin. Codename: Widowmaker. She's the one who..." He trailed off, but the unspoken words hung heavily in the air.

Lucio's mind reeled. His parents' dream, their hope for the future, had been snuffed out by fear and greed.

In the silence, a familiar hum returned to his thoughts.

"Objective completed," the Overwatch system announced, startling Lucio. "Secret objective unlocked: Foundations of Overwatch. Rewards: Tracer hero abilities ready for integration. Gacha hero pull unlocked."

Lucio blinked, the system's words barely registering through the haze of emotions. He looked up at the heroes, his resolve hardening. "I'll go to UA. But I'm going to finish what my parents started. I'll rebuild Overwatch."

Mirko grinned. "Now that's what I like to hear!"

Aizawa sighed. "This is going to be a headache."

All Might smiled, his eyes glimmering with pride. "You truly are your parents' son, young Lucio. We'll support you, every step of the way."

Lucio nodded, determination shining in his eyes. For the first time since his parents' deaths, he felt a sense of purpose. Overwatch wasn't just a dream—it was his legacy.

The train screeched to a halt in the dead of night, its lights casting long shadows across the deserted platform. Lucio stepped off first, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of danger. He knew the streets of Kyoto better than most, but the situation was different tonight. They couldn't afford to attract attention, not with the possibility of enemies lurking in the shadows.

Aizawa followed closely, his expression unreadable as usual, while Mirko and All Might brought up the rear. The weight of the recent revelations still hung heavily in the air, but Lucio pushed those thoughts aside for the moment. Tonight wasn't about the past—it was about survival and the future he was determined to forge.

"We'll head to the rooftop," Aizawa muttered, voice low to avoid detection. "Nezu's sending the helicopter. It'll be there in 10 minutes. I've already texted him the coordinates."

Lucio nodded, adjusting his backpack and keeping his pace steady. "Got it. We need to move fast."

Mirko stretched, her usual energy back now that they were out of danger. "Don't need to tell me twice. Let's get to the rooftop and get outta here."

They made their way through the quiet streets, avoiding the main roads where any onlookers might notice them. Kyoto was known for its traditional beauty, but in the dead of night, it felt like a ghost town. The only sounds were their footsteps and the occasional whisper of wind through the trees.

As they neared the edge of the city, the towering structure of Fujisaka came into view—a quiet, unassuming rooftop that would be their escape route.

Aizawa paused at the entrance to the rooftop, his hand already reaching for his phone. "Nezu's confirmed. He'll be here soon."

Lucio stood beside him, glancing at the dark sky above them. He could feel the tension mounting in the air, but he knew they couldn't afford to hesitate. Not now.

The minutes stretched on, each second feeling like an eternity. Then, from the distance, the unmistakable sound of a helicopter's blades cut through the night. Lucio's heart skipped a beat.

"All set," Aizawa murmured, staring at his phone as he continued watching the horizon. "Nezu's on his way. The helicopter will be here in a few minutes."

The sound of the helicopter grew louder, soon accompanied by the faint thrum of its engine overhead. Lucio looked up to see the UA helicopter descending slowly, its lights illuminating the dark expanse of the rooftop. The sleek craft was unmistakable—the emblem of UA displayed clearly on its side.

The helicopter touched down with precision, its rotor blades creating a wind that tousled their hair. The door opened, and there, standing by the open hatch, was Nezu—his white fur shining under the lights as he waved them over.

"Glad to see you made it, Aizawa," Nezu said, his voice smooth yet unmistakably filled with authority.

Aizawa gave a nod. "We're all set, Nezu. Let's get out of here."

Lucio exchanged a quick glance with Mirko and All Might before climbing into the helicopter, followed by the others. Aizawa was the last to enter, his phone still in his hand as he gave one final look at the city below.

Once inside, the door shut behind them with a soft hiss, and the helicopter began to lift off. The city of Kyoto quickly shrank beneath them, its lights fading into the distance as the aircraft soared into the night sky.

Lucio settled into his seat, his mind racing. It was a new chapter for him—one filled with uncertainty, but also hope. He was leaving behind the shattered remnants of his past and stepping into the unknown. But as the helicopter flew through the night, Lucio couldn't help but feel that he was exactly where he needed to be.

Nezu, still standing at the doorway, glanced back at the group. "Welcome to UA, Lucio. We have much to discuss—and much to do."

Lucio nodded quietly, his resolve firming. "I'm ready."

As the helicopter flew toward the horizon, carrying them toward their future, Lucio couldn't help but wonder what awaited him at UA—and how the legacy of Overwatch would continue. The story was just beginning.

|Which character from Overwatch 2 should I put in and what gacha character should he pull?. He has Lucio ready and tracer to be unlocked. I'll choose how to integrated them.|
