Parallel World Spider-Man

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: A Cosmic Spectacle After a Spider Bite?

Longxia Kingdom.

A certain unnamed Mars observation and research base.

Dormitory building.

Bi De lay on his bed in his dormitory, his left hand swollen into a small lump, wrapped in white gauze.

He was a researcher from Longxia Kingdom, currently interning at this observation base. He had only been practicing for about half a year.

This so-called "astronomical observation base" was one of Longxia Kingdom's significant projects, primarily focused on the study of Mars, Earth's neighboring planet.

They used telescopes to observe Mars and also received data and even samples sent back by the probes from Mars.

These efforts were naturally aimed at further exploration, and even the eventual goal of landing on Mars in the future.

As for Bi De's injury, it was a bit frustrating to talk about.

A few days ago, a Mars rover had returned some samples collected from the Martian surface to Earth. Bi De, along with his mentor and superior, Dr. Liao Shi'an, received the batch of items.

Everything had gone smoothly at first, but while handling a sample of Martian soil, Bi De was suddenly bitten by a spider that seemed to have emerged from nowhere.

Technically, a research facility like this shouldn't have such creatures.

So the researchers assumed that Bi De had brought the spider from the desert outside, blaming him for the bite.

To make matters worse, in the chaos of being bitten, Bi De accidentally broke the precious soil sample.

As a result, Dr. Liao had flown into a rage and confined Bi De to his room for two weeks.

Of course, with his current condition, he would have needed some time to recover anyway.

"I wonder how the research on the returned items is going," Bi De sighed, opening the computer on his desk, plugging in a hard drive, and deciding to watch a movie to pass the time.

"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, I'll watch this one."

Maybe because he had just been bitten by a spider, Bi De immediately picked this film.

He double-clicked to open the video.

Crackle—

The screen suddenly flickered.

"Huh?" Bi De reached out and tapped the computer screen, puzzled.

This laptop wasn't very old, he'd only bought it recently. It shouldn't be breaking down already, right?

The universal "tap to fix it" technique seemed to work, as the screen returned to normal, and the opening of the movie began to play.

Bi De relaxed back into his chair.

Crackle—

The screen flickered again, this time more severely.

The entire computer screen was covered with colorful, distorted dots.

"What's going on?" Bi De reached out, about to apply his "tap to fix it" technique again. But just as his hand was about to touch the screen, he froze.

A look of terror appeared on his face.

Through his gaze, it wasn't just the image on the screen that was distorted, but the computer itself!

It felt as though the entire space was warping!

Faced with this bizarre sight, Bi De quickly stood up, trying to distance himself from it.

But just then, a tremendous force seemed to suck him in from the swirling black hole in space, pulling him forward.

"No!"

Bi De screamed in terror as his entire body was drawn into the spatial black hole.

"Where am I?"

Bi De rubbed his groggy head and slowly got up from the ground.

He looked around and realized he wasn't in the observation base anymore. The surroundings looked a bit like the architecture he'd seen during his exchange program in New York back in his third year of university.

But it didn't feel exactly the same.

Since he hadn't traveled abroad since then, he couldn't quite pinpoint what was off.

But in truth, the current situation itself was the most off!

"In the blink of an eye, I've somehow gone from Longxia Kingdom to the beautiful country? Is this some kind of international joke? Quantum collapse in the quantum universe? Did I just experience a cosmic spectacle?"

As a scientific researcher, although Bi De was still a rookie with only six months of experience, he was never short on leaps of thought and wild ideas.

After a brief moment of panic, he calmed down significantly and began surveying his surroundings.

Regardless, even if he had been inexplicably sent across the ocean by a quantum collapse phenomenon, as long as he could find the Longxia Kingdom embassy, he would be able to get extradited back home. It wouldn't be too much of an issue.

As for being detained? That was out of the question.

Although their observation base was an outpost for Mars observation and research, due to technological limitations, there hadn't been much progress.

In simple terms, they were just burning through funding.

According to higher-ups, it was likely that his generation, or even the next few generations, were simply laying the groundwork for future missions.

Moreover, as an intern researcher, he was unlikely to be privy to any deep, classified secrets.

In other words, he had some value, but not much.

So his situation was delicate, but not dangerous.

Compared to these unimportant matters, Bi De was much more interested in the possible "quantum collapse phenomenon" he had just experienced.

It was well known that if a physical quantity has a smallest indivisible unit, it is said to be "quantized," with the smallest unit referred to as a "quantum."

The basic concept is that all tangible properties might be "quantized."

"Quantization" means the values of a physical quantity are specific and not arbitrary.

In other words, quantum itself is a fundamental unit in the microscopic world of physics, and theoretically, it cannot be made smaller.

But now, he had encountered a phenomenon that completely overturned all previous understanding of physics.

If he could crack its secrets, perhaps he could join the ranks of great figures like Einstein and Planck!

Thinking of this, Bi De became quite excited and began searching around eagerly.

At that moment—

Buzz—

A strange "sound" suddenly rang out in Bi De's mind, and his body's hair stood on end.

Is there danger?

A string in Bi De's mind had been stretched to its limit.

"Hey, buddy, I think you're experiencing the same thing I did." A voice came from above and behind him.

Bi De looked up in confusion and saw a figure almost entirely shrouded in darkness, hanging upside down from the high ceiling, staring at him.

"How did this guy do that?" Bi De widened his eyes, thoroughly amazed.

"Who are you?" Bi De asked loudly.

"Buddy, I don't think you need to be so nervous. You've got spider senses, right? I think we're 'the same kind'."

The person chuckled and did something that left Bi De speechless.

He actually jumped down from the roof, more than ten meters high!
