Parallel World Spider-Man

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Decoding Miles Morales

"Whoa, are you serious?"

"No way, that's incredible!"

"Am I in it? Have you seen me?"

In less than a second, the previously scattered group of Spider-People had surrounded Bid, bombarding him with a flurry of questions.

It felt like thousands of ducks were quacking directly in his ears, leaving his head spinning.

"Stop! Stop!!!" Bid threw up his hands, shouting, "Are you all trying to kill me with some kind of magic sound attack?"

The chaotic noise abruptly halted, and an awkward silence followed as the Spider-People exchanged sheepish glances.

The ever-composed Noir Spider-Man took charge, raising his hands to signal for order. "Alright, everyone, calm down. Let's go one at a time, one question at a time."

"I'll go first! Me first!" Miles pushed his way out from under Peter B.'s arm, his curious gaze locking onto Bid. "In your world, you really don't have someone like me? I mean, me as Spider-Man?"

"Nope."

"Then how do you know so much about us? Did someone in your world invent a way to travel across dimensions and discover all these different versions of us?"

Bid hesitated for a moment. He'd intended to outright deny it, but considering that something as absurd as dimensional travel had already happened to him, who was to say it hadn't occurred to others?

"Probably...not?" he said carefully. "Our world is relatively peaceful on the surface. Sure, there are areas plagued by war, but I've never heard of superheroes or supervillains existing there."

"Sounds like your world is pretty different from ours," Peter B. said, his tone carrying a hint of envy.

Bid shrugged. "Maybe it's just because I lived such an ordinary life that I never came across anything unusual. Who knows?"

"Alright then, can you tell us about the stories you've heard about us?" Peter B. asked.

Bid nodded, then began recounting the plots of various Spider-Man adaptations he'd seen: the Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire, the two The Amazing Spider-Man films with Andrew Garfield, and the more recent Tom Holland-led MCU trilogy (Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home).

He even sprinkled in parts of the Avengers' storylines for good measure.

"Tsk," Peter B. clicked his tongue after listening. "The story you mentioned about that 'Tobey' Spider-Man? It's eerily similar to my own experiences...although that was more than ten years ago for me."

Bid nodded knowingly. He had already suspected Peter B. was closest to the first Spider-Man iteration. This seemed to confirm it.

The first Spider-Man series leaned heavily into the concept of mutation, even to the point where Peter's webbing was organic, produced directly by his body—a stark contrast to the web-shooters created by the second and third Spider-Men.

Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man, for example, was a tech whiz, crafting his own web-shooters—a trait reminiscent of the late Spider-Man of this dimension.

Peter B., by contrast, clearly embodied the original Tobey Maguire version.

"Wow, Holland's Spider-Man has it so good!" Peni Parker exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with envy. "He inherits all that tech and money? Does that mean I could just buy all the gaming consoles I want? Eat any candy I like?"

"Exactly! If I ever visit his world, I'll make him treat me to the most extravagant, double-deluxe hot dog imaginable!" Spider-Ham snorted, looking ready to milk the wealthy Spider-Man dry.

Bid: …

Is this really what you're focusing on?

"It seems like your world is truly unique," Noir Spider-Man said thoughtfully. "I'd love to visit it someday."

Bid chuckled. "I wouldn't recommend it. If my world ever faced dangers like yours, I'd probably cry myself to death."

The group burst into laughter.

"Alright, back to business," Bid said once the laughter subsided. "Let's talk about what I know regarding Miles."

He turned to face the younger Spider-Man, who immediately straightened up, eager and attentive like a student awaiting their teacher's guidance.

"First, we need to discuss the spider that bit you," Bid began.

"It was created by Norman Osborn as part of his experiments to replicate Spider-Man's abilities," he explained. "Because of that, the powers you've gained are largely similar to Peter's."

"For instance, your enhanced physical abilities—your super strength, specifically. Since the spider that bit you is similar to the one that bit Peter, your strength should be on par with his, somewhere between 15 to 20 tons."

"This also includes superhuman endurance and agility. Your body can withstand impacts several times greater than what ordinary humans can endure. Your reflexes and balance are also among the best humanity has to offer."

"Next, there's your reaction speed. All Spider-People have reflexes that are 20 times faster than an average person's—if not more. Paired with your Spider-Sense, this allows you to dodge most attacks, even bullets."

"And of course, there's wall-crawling, the ability to climb walls using a static-like adhesion ability."

"These are the standard powers. I'm sure you've noticed them already, right, Miles?"

Miles nodded vigorously, while the others listened quietly, not interrupting Bid's explanation.

"But now, let's talk about your unique abilities, Miles," Bid continued, his tone growing more serious.

Miles straightened up even further, anticipation written all over his face.

"The first ability," Bid said, raising one finger, "is called 'Venom Strike.' It's an electric shock that you can generate by channeling energy through your hands and into your opponent. With low energy, you can paralyze them. With higher energy, you can even kill them outright. This move is especially effective against genetically modified enemies."

Miles' eyes widened. He raised his hands, staring at them incredulously. "My body really contains that much power? But why don't I feel it at all?"

"I'm certain your body holds immense energy," Bid assured him. "Your burst potential is even stronger than theirs."

"Oh, come on, man, that's a low blow!" Spider-Man Noir groaned, clutching his head dramatically.

Peter B. cautiously reached out, poking at Miles' hand with a finger. "Doesn't feel like anything to me..."

Gwen, Peni, and Spider-Ham exchanged skeptical looks, clearly unconvinced that Miles' power surpassed theirs.
