Parthina

They laid the baby on her. He was beautiful. Small with a mighty cry. White hair, and pale skin, he looked so much like his father. The only difference was, his eyes were pure forest green with a small ring of gold. There were no whites to his eyes. His eyes were big like his mother's and even for a newborn baby, full of emotion.

Lord Yasa came in after they laid her in bed and covered her, the baby curled into her arms.

Her eyes watched the door. "He won't come, my dear." He said softly. He came closer and sat next to her.

Her fear washed over him. "What is it?" He asked her softly so as not to disturb the nursing babe. Parthenia slowly pulled back the covers on the infant.

"No one seemed to notice." She choked out, "He's so perfect." Tears ran down her face. She was hurting in so many ways.

"That is why you are afraid?"

"It's only a matter of time." She sobbed. "Before someone other than me and you notice."

Just then Kasonna came in, her nose sniffing.

"Take him, please." She begged in a whisper. "Don't let her be the one, please." She pulled the nursing baby away from her and into his hand. He looked down.

"Parthenia."

"Take him!" Tears could not be held back.

He stood, and she covered her face with her hands. She knew it as soon as she noticed his lack of human blood. She would never leave with her son.

Someone would take him. Kasonna, his mother, him.

He would not protect her nor keep her. And if not, she could only hope he would defend him.

So, as Lord Yasa swiftly left, Parthenia stopped Kasonna from following. "I know it was you." She said in a whisper.

Kasonna stopped.

"I know it was you who told Zane."

"My mate-to-be will not believe you." Kasonna smiled slightly.

Parthenia shook her head. "It doesn't matter anyway I need a favor."

"Oh?"

Meanwhile, Lord Yasa walked outside to his son, bundle in hand. "Will you not even see your son?"

"He is not my son," Severin stated adamantly.

"But he is, and she knew that he would never leave with her, my son."

The wind blew through Severin's hair, and then he heard the baby's coo. He was so focused on keeping everyone out that he didn't feel it.

"Kasonna?"

"Her, your mother, it would have been someone Severin."

Then the baby cried out. "Won't you look at him?" Lord Yasa pressed.

Severin slowly turned and walked the few steps to his father and under the moonlight, he met his son for the first time.

While he was laying eyes on him, Kasonna was making her way through the wind with Parthenia in her arms; they were headed North.

Parthenia's blood dripped down as they flew through the sky and into a secret portal left by Zane.

Parthenia had been right about Kasonna.

"He is a pureblood," Severin stated shocked. His father handed the baby over to its father. "She gave me a pureblood?"

As he spoke, he felt a new power within himself. He had finally gained the power that which matched his father.

His son was beautiful and had his mother's eyes. He could see her in them.

"Why do you have him?" He then asked not looking up from his newborn son.

"She gave him to me and begged me to take him."

"She would leave him?" He finally looked up. That was not like her.

"No, Severin, but she knew it was only a matter of time before someone ripped him from her. She could not endure it."

Endure it she could not. Kasonna handed her over to Zane, who sighed a demonic bond that he would not strike war against them ever again.

Kasonna returned with a brisk wind; no one even noticed she had gone. Severin and his father had been busy with the new baby under the moonlight, a night of power.

"She knew you would not protect her, keep her, love her, but I saw it in her eyes, her hope that you would come to care for your son."

Severin looked down at his tiny son. The baby cooed at its father. Severin looked up suddenly "I do not feel her."

Lord Yasa spread out his power searching for her, and his insides flopped.

He sped away, Severin fast behind him.

They entered her room to find her gone. Kasonna was the only one to remain.

"Where is she?" Severin sneered.

"Do not be angry with me; I only did as she asked."

"And what was that?" Lord Yasa asked with a darkening tone.

"To help her save her people."

"Zane." Lord Yasa gasped.

Kasonna came up to Severin and reached out to touch the baby, but he growled. "Do not touch my son."

She pulled back. "Your son?"

Far North, Parthenia stood on a cliff, Lord Zane behind her. "What do you really seek from me?" She asked. The pain of her body, mind, and soul left her just tired and almost numb.

"Your Celestial stone." Lord Yasa had been right, Zane did know about her stone, and its power. Parthenia's stone was known as the Celestial stone, and this stone had only been on earth once before, at the beginning of time.

"Very well." She stated and reached for it under her dress.

"Oh, and you're just going to hand it over?"

Parthenia put her hand over her heart with the last bit of her power she dropped the stone disguise. "Yes." It was the only thing keeping her alive at this point; her body was failing.

She held out her hand behind her, her back to him. He slowly came forward to take it, but as his skin met with hers, he screamed.

She instantly purified him with the stone until he was nothing but ash.

"Dying is easy, peaceful, calm." Slow tears slid down her face as his ash blew away.

She could live without Severin's love, but she could not live without her heart. In the end, he had all of her. She too could see her reflecting in her sons' eyes. It was the only part of her that showed.

She closed her eyes. "I shall take you with me to the grave." She broke the stone.

Immortal she was, but even immortals could die. Now that the stone was broken she was human, normal. She would not cheat this death that sought to take her.

She wanted to drown her pain and sorrow.

After all, he now carried her heart in his arms.

Parthenia threw herself off the cliff into the ocean.

She was finally freesol.
