The blue of Alycia's plush dress matched that of the sky, and without a single wrinkle, she brushed the loose hairs behind her ears using her index fingers. Mother had seemed to have been in a good mood since the week began and last night she'd decided to straighten her daughter's hair for reasons unknown to Alycia. With her white pumps and a rosary wrapped around her neck, she sauntered down the stairs to join her mother in the kitchen. "Good morning ma'am" she started off, as she stood behind her usual chair by the dinning table. "Good mornin', you may have a seat" she responded and Alycia wasted no time obeying instruction. Placing a plate of food in front of her while she rested her hands gently on her lap until mother took her seat, with her own plate in front of her. "You may eat" and like that Alycia began devouring her plate of food in a lady like manner and so did mother. This was a everyday routined pattern she was groomed to follow from her early days of life. Alycia's mother, Debra, was a the perfectionist grounded from gruesome circumstances which resulted in the abnormalities applied in raising her first and only child. A silence which would seem awkward, but was actually something they'd grown accustomed to until the very last bite on their plates. Debra got onto her feet taking both her and Alycia's plates into the spotless kitchen. "Ladies church service is In an hour, I'm going to catch the bus now to get a head start prayer, I'll be back at 5 p.m." she asserted whilst wiping both plates. "Yes ma'am" Alycia replied with her head hung low. And an abrupt shatter of glass on the floor frightening Alycia as her head shot straight up to the meeting of eyes with her mothers. "The next time you reply to me with your head hung down, I'll aim that plate at your skull-" with a few cuts on her hand which she played off, and a vein visably popping out from the side of her forehead. Angry was an understatement, Debra was infuriated. With tears on sight of Alycia's face, she fell onto her knees and begged for forgiveness. "Shut up! Get the hell out of my eyesight, digraceful, disrespectful child!" she roared while kicking Alycia onto her feet, racing for her room. She sat in front of her dresser, cried the last of her tears before wiping them away.

Laying flat down on her bed, she starred at nothing in particular, gathering all of her thoughts before hearing a bang from the front door downstairs. "She's gone", she thought to herself. Almost jumping out of bed, Alycia grasped at her chance to watch TV. Watching music videos, Debra called satanic, Alycia sat there in complete awe.

This went on and on, endless binge watching and when the time had come to 4:30 p.m, the TV was turned off faster than it was turned on. She placed everything back into the order she'd found it and was back on her bed in no time, pretending to sleep. 15 minutes blew over and the front door opened, "Mama always comes home exactly 15 minutes before the time she's stated she'll be back" Alycia recited her thoughts to herself. Hearing footsteps approaching up the stairs and into the hallway, the sounds ended at the foot of Alycia's door. For a minute or so, the sound silenced then finally began as Debra sauntered to her room and closed the door. Her door closing meant one thing. Sleep. Usually she'd "sleep" from the late afternoon, through the evening, past the night time and into the morning, around 4:30 a.m.

An hour passed and all Alycia could do was read, no problem to her, she enjoyed it. Another hour passed and the book became more intriguing by the second as she neared the end of it, her very own hands wouldn't let her put it down. But a noise at her window, caught her off guard. She brushed it off and 5 minutes later a soft knock followed by a very faint voice calling of her name. Slowly getting up from her bed she walked to the window and opened it revealing an overly dressed Bianca. "What are you doing here?" Alycia questioned, making sure not to go above a whisper. "What does it look like, we're going to a party" Bianca clarified, speaking in her loud voice while Alycia kept turning her head back to her bedroom door. "Lower your voice, I told you I can't go" Alycia murmured. " I won't have to lower my shit if you just come out-" Bianca impatiently asserted, while Alycia's head kept rotating between the door and Bianca. "Come on girl, yo mama won't find out just come on" Grabbing a hold of Alycia's wrist she stepped out, one foot after the other and pulled the window down before rushing down the flight of emergency stairs. Aisha sitting in the drivers seat of the car hooted for them to hurry up. Still holding onto Alycia's wrist they made it into the car and Alycia sat in the very middle of the backseat, in between Amber and Bianca. The excitment that erupted in the car when Bianca returned with Alycia was a bit excesssive. Meanwhile Alycia's heart rate had picked up increasingly, she was struggling to catch her breathe.

The car stopped at a robot and Amber took a quick glance at Alycia through the display mirror, from head to toe. She then spoke above the blasting music. "We goin' to my place right?"

Amber questioned the others in the car. "Why?" Liah frowned as she turned her attention to Amber from the passenger seat.

"She ain't coming looking like that right?" Amber retorted. Alycia glanced at everyone who'd turned to peep at her outfit, "Yeah, she'll prolly fit into your clothes" Bianca added, while they continued to talk about her outfit like she wasn't there. "What have I gotten myself into?" Alycia thought to herself.
