Chapter 7: chapter 7

Chapter 7 - Do You Want to Become a Vampire?

"I have a battle in two weeks to determine the tribe's leader."

I stood there, completely lost, as I couldn't quite understand what she was trying to say. "Can you explain this to me, Mother?" I asked, confused. She explained what had happened in detail. Apparently, the tribe did not allow a woman to be the chief. So, they pressured my mother to step down and give the position to someone else. The strongest candidate was my father's uncle, who was considered the strongest after my father. He didn't become the previous leader due to inheritance issues. But my mother was not in favor of this decision. It seems she has some resentment towards my father's uncle, Acalan. So, she doesn't want to relinquish the leadership. She challenged Acalan to a duel to determine the tribe's leader. The winner becomes the tribe's leader, and the loser has to fulfill the winner's wishes.

"Mother, why is there so much hatred when you talk about Acalan?" I asked curiously.

"That bastard has had his eyes on my body since I was a child. He even proposed to me when I was 10, and he was almost in his 20s. Even after my marriage, he still ogled my body. Your father spared his life out of consideration for the tribe. He only wants me. The tribe won't be well under his hands," she responded with hatred. I was honestly stunned by this information. After talking a bit with my mother, I started thinking about how to approach her with my plan. The reason I was in a hurry to create the mask after my father's death was that I wanted to give my mother a chance to become a vampire.

'I'm not very interested in the tribe or in becoming its leader. It's her mess, so she should clean it up. All I can do is give her an opportunity.'

I sighed, thinking about exactly how I would do this. Soon night fell. I didn't make a decision, so I went to sleep to deal with these matters tomorrow.

'I haven't slept well for a week. Even though my body can go a week without sleep, my mind can't handle it.'

It was afternoon when I woke up after a deep sleep last night. After working a bit and training some, I decided to be honest with my mother. I went to her room and noticed there were still traces of my father's belongings. She was training intensely with her sword.

'Even though she is a skilled warrior, her chances of victory against Acalan are slim, as he is said to be the strongest, only losing to my father.'

I entered the room and waited for her to finish her training. It was quite strange, as my eyes involuntarily went towards her well-toned hands and thighs. I forced myself to focus elsewhere. Eventually, she noticed me and stopped her training.

"What happened, Zee? Why have you been so tense these past few days? Do you have something to tell me?" she asked, concerned.

"Yes, Mother, I have something to tell you," I replied, strengthening my resolve even more.

"What is it? Tell me. You know I won't judge or scold you," she responded in a gentle and comforting tone.

"Mother, I'm not an ordinary human." I looked at her in anticipation, waiting for her reaction. But she seemed as indifferent as always.

"Of course, you're not ordinary because you are a gift from God," she responded matter-of-factly.

'Oh Mother, don't attack me with your kindness now and make me feel even more guilty.'

"That's not it, Mother. I have supernatural powers. I am fundamentally different from ordinary humans." I made my fingers detach from my hands and have them float in the air like a string to show her the proof.

Quetzal's POV

My son was saying strange things like he was different from humans, he had powers, and things like that. I thought he was sick when suddenly I saw his fingers swinging in the air like some strings.

My eyes widened as I couldn't comprehend this phenomenon. How can someone do that with their fingers? Maybe only the gods could do such things.

"Zee, what happened to your fingers? Are they okay?" I asked, worried.

"As I said, Mother, I have supernatural powers. This is just a small trick and only a fraction of my power." I couldn't believe it. Honestly, I need some time to calm down.

After a few minutes, I expressed my doubts: "Since when have you been like this?"

"Probably since my birth," I was shocked once again. Something happened in my womb that made my son like this.

"You don't go out in the sun because of this too?" I was always skeptical because he always avoided the sun like it was a plague.

"Yes, the sun can be considered one of my weaknesses. If I stayed in the sun for an extended time, I'd probably burn," he responded nonchalantly.

'My son can't even enjoy the sun because of me. He has become blessed and cursed at the same time.' I felt a bit guilty and scared thinking about what would happen if he burned.

Perhaps sensing my emotions, he responded, "Don't worry, Mother, it's not your fault. It's just how I was born. There's nothing wrong with you," he reassured me as a smile unconsciously formed on my face.

"Besides, I'm almost immortal, and only a few things in this world can kill me." Once again, saying I was shocked would be an understatement. But I'm glad he will be able to live a long time.

"Why are you telling me now? Why not before?" I asked, a bit curious. But I was happy that he finally decided to tell me.

"Honestly, I didn't want to drag you into this mess. But after Father died, I faced the harsh reality that you could also die at any moment. So, I decided to be honest with you." I felt a bit sad at the mention of Tupoc. But I'm glad he's so mature at this age.

"There's also another reason I came to talk to you," he said with firm determination in his eyes.

"What?" I asked unconsciously, being drawn into his deep blue eyes.

"Mother, do you want eternal life and strength to do whatever you want?" I heard that devilish whisper that changed my life forever.
