76: Setting Out
After the tracing ended, the system never issued me another mission.
Having completed the conquest mission from 9 years ago, the red ‘villain system’ that had originally parasitized me seemed to vanish without a trace,
Replaced by an entirely new blue ‘conquest system’.
Although the inclusion of Little Demon King Fiel as a conquerable option truly startled Yvonne, unlike the previous, more malicious ‘villain’ system, the conquest system required preconditions to trigger, and basically only assigned some reward-based tasks.
Well… this should be considered killing two birds with one stone.
As long as she didn’t go near those strange conquest targets, there wouldn’t be any weird tasks requiring her to fall in love with someone else.
For Yvonne, no matter what the tasks were, they were better than that system which constantly issued mandatory tasks demanding she bully Elsa.
However, because her girlfriend had developed this ‘strange habit’ at some unknown time, now Yvonne occasionally had to ‘bully’ her.
If she went too long without being bullied by Yvonne, Elsa would look at her with an unsatisfied expression, making Yvonne feel restless.
So to not disappoint her strange expectations, Yvonne had to steel herself and do it.
Actually, most of the time Elsa just wanted to tease her, wanting to see Evie’s embarrassed expression,
But sometimes she would end up being seriously bullied, resulting in something akin to digging her own grave.

Unknown mysteries still existed.
Yvonne inquired at the tavern every day, and discovered an incredible thing:
Except for herself, all the customers in that tavern had forgotten about the ‘Witch Lady’ in the black robe.
‘How could our shop possibly have such a strange customer.’
‘You must have seen wrong, miss.’
When one person’s testimony didn’t match her memory, Yvonne might think there was a problem with that person.
But when three people, ten people… more and more people had memories completely different from hers, Yvonne began to waver.
Could it be the ‘Witch’ truly didn’t exist, and everything was her imagination?
No, that’s not right—The ‘Witch Lady’ must have truly existed.
She had to believe this more than anyone else.
Moreover… someday, Yvonne wanted that person to properly explain the reasons for all of this.

What surprised Yvonne most was still the former Demon King Fiel.
As the original game’s second-ranked conquerable character, this little Demon King seemed to have decided to stay here and not leave.
It seems she’s living quite comfortably here…
Indeed, this was truly the case.
Now Fiel was quite popular among these children, because her appearance looked younger than all the children here, easily evoking people’s protective instincts, so whenever there was something good, everyone would let her have it first.
If there was a roast chicken on the table, given the little Demon King’s current status among the children, she would definitely get a drumstick—That was about the level of doting she received.
Everyone competed to be Fiel’s big brother or sister, silently evolving into a kind of competitive psychology among the children.
In Yvonne’s view, this was simply a peculiar scene of vying to be Fiel’s caretaker and competing for the position, making her both amused and exasperated.
If this continued, she was somewhat worried this little Demon King might be spoiled by Annie and the others.
But Fiel wasn’t as cold-hearted as initially described in the game,
Although their structure was completely different from humans, demons were also living beings with emotions.
Receiving such love and care, Fiel also felt shy and happy.
During a routine foraging activity earlier, she even protected the children when they encountered a wild boar attack in the forest.
Probably no need for her to worry anymore.

“You received a letter from the Duke?”
“Yes, it’s the first time since changing addresses.”
After receiving a letter from her father, Yvonne seemed particularly happy.
“Seeing your expression, did something good happen?”
“Well… I suppose. The letter says that many of the troops stationed there for surveillance have withdrawn, and the small squad remaining has already been taken care of by Father.”
Saying this, Yvonne grinned and made a money gesture with her hand,
Talking about such content, Yvonne really gave off a bit of a villainous young lady vibe.
“It’s a rare opportunity, I want to go see my parents.”
Having packed away the letter, Yvonne asked the invitation Elsa had been looking forward to all along:
“Do you want to come with me?”
“I want to go!! Of course I want to go!! Please definitely take me!!”
Elsa was so excited she almost jumped up~
She had been waiting for this opportunity for a long time,
Seeking her parents’ approval was naturally a very important step,
The two began preparing for the long journey,
“What’s the climate like there?”
“It should be colder than here… I think it’s better to bring more long-sleeved clothes,”
Moreover, because of the northern location, the temperature there was considerably lower than here.
Although not to the extent of being a frozen wasteland, at least the summer heat couldn’t be felt there.
Unlike the mountainous and hilly terrain of the central region, the northern borderlands were vast, with large areas of flat land, but due to less rainfall, the crops that could be planted were quite limited. Combined with the sparse population, the landscape was much worse than here.
Being exiled to such a desolate place was almost equivalent to being sentenced to death.
Fortunately, her mother’s health had recovered quite well, and with Linda’s meticulous care after coming along, life was slowly improving.
“…Sisters, are you really leaving here?”
When the children at the relief agency heard the two were leaving, they were all very reluctant to part. The younger ones looked at the two with teary eyes, seeming like they would burst into tears at any moment,
After a month of living together, their feelings had grown deep, and naturally they were unwilling to let the two sisters leave like this.
“Don’t worry everyone—This place isn’t far from Emerald Port, when we’re not busy Evie and I will often come back, and we’ll bring gifts for everyone!”
Seeing little Evie’s reddened eyes, almost brought to tears by the children, Elsa quickly used her trump card.
“Yay—!!”
Children were still easy to coax. Hearing this, tears that hadn’t yet fallen immediately turned to cheers, leaving only Yvonne, who hadn’t had time to switch emotions, in a daze on the side.
Before leaving, Sister Delia called them to the church and blessed them in the name of the Earth Goddess.
“May the Goddess’s light be with you, may God protect you—”
Finally, she placed a kiss on each of their foreheads,
This gesture could often be seen when Delia did it to other children, but when the object of the kiss became herself, it was indeed still embarrassing…
“I wish you a safe journey, please be careful on the road.”
“Sister Delia, please take care of yourself too.”
“I won’t, thanks to you two, things are much easier now.”
Delia smiled gently, then changed the subject,
“My Lord also said that love needs moderation, needs restraint—I hope you two won’t play with fire too much, okay?”
Looking at the two, Delia said with a smile. Sometimes this Sister would say some bold things with a straight face like this, making Elsa blush to her ears, only able to lower her head in silence.
But Yvonne’s side was full of confusion, seemingly not understanding the Sister’s implied meaning at all.
“…What does ‘playing with fire’ mean?”
What on earth was Sister referring to?
Sitting in the carriage, Yvonne was still pondering this matter, but after racking her brains for a long time, she still couldn’t understand, and could only seek help from Elsa,
But unexpectedly, she was mercilessly rejected,
“Why—”
“No reason! This kind of thing is still too early for Evie.”
Elsa, with a red face, was unwilling to explain this point.
“Ah…!”
Yvonne suddenly made an ‘I understand’ sound,
“Could it be… because I’m a wind element magic user. So Sister was advising me not to team up with fire element people? Is that it?”
“…I see Evie really doesn’t understand at all.”
