The two Pokémon were thrown backward by each other's power as a strong gust erupted in the center of the field, pushing them both sliding along the ground.

"Elekid, use Thunderbolt!"

With a cry of "Waaah!" Elekid unleashed an incredible burst of electricity, blasting it forward. The crackling bolts snaked across the field, ripping up the ground as they surged toward Pikachu.

"Agility!" Ash commanded. Pikachu's form blurred, leaving only a phantom image in the path of Thunderbolt's electric assault.

"Quick Attack!"

After dodging the Thunderbolt, Ash launched a counterattack. Pikachu dashed forward in a silver flash, pushing his speed to the limit.

"Protect!" Gary shouted, immediately on the defense. Elekid threw up a protective shield, and just as Pikachu neared the barrier, Ash gave his next command.

"Iron Tail!"

Pikachu sprang forward, his tail glowing with a metallic sheen. Using the momentum from Quick Attack, he swung his Iron Tail down onto the protective barrier.

Boom!

The Iron Tail struck the shield with a heavy impact, causing it to flicker under the pressure. This time, the shield couldn't fully withstand the force of Pikachu's boosted Iron Tail, and it began to waver.

As the shield's light dimmed, Gary noticed that Protect was close to breaking. "Elekid, use Brick Break as soon as the shield drops!"

Just as the shield's energy faded, Elekid moved on Gary's command. Pikachu's Iron Tail came down, but Elekid's arm, glowing white with the power of Brick Break, rose to block it. The two attacks clashed, sending waves of energy radiating from the point of impact.

Gary watched intently. "Ash, your Pikachu's stuck, isn't he? Elekid, use Thunder Punch!"

With one hand still locked against Pikachu's Iron Tail, Elekid charged up Thunder Punch in his other hand, electricity sparking around his fist, ready to strike.

"It's not that simple, Pikachu! Use Electro Ball!" Ash shouted, prepared for this exact situation. He remembered times like this from previous battles and had anticipated the counterattack.

"What?" Gary's eyes widened in surprise.

In response to Ash's command, Pikachu summoned a surge of electricity from his body, sending it down his tail. An electric orb began to form at the tip, connecting with Elekid's arm in a flash of gold energy.

Boom!

With the combined pressure of Iron Tail and Electro Ball, the resulting explosion forced both Pokémon backward. Pikachu landed on his feet but slid back, while Elekid was similarly pushed back across the field. Smoke billowed up, obscuring the battlefield from view as the trainers and their Pokémon caught their breath, waiting for the dust to settle.

"What a move!" Gary couldn't help but exclaim as he watched Ash resolve the crisis with such skill.

"That Elekid isn't an ordinary opponent!" Xiaolei, sitting in the stands, felt a surge of nervousness as she observed the intense battle unfolding.

Having first defeated Eevee and now challenging Pikachu with such intensity, Gary was proving to be one of Ash's toughest rivals yet.

"Nice work, Ash, but it'll take more than that to beat my Elekid!"

Although Electro Ball is a powerful Electric-type move, it didn't deal severe damage to Elekid. The last hit was mostly a maneuver for positioning, and Ash knew it would be difficult to bring Elekid down.

"Then get ready to see what our training has achieved!" Ash replied confidently, adjusting his hat's brim with a steady hand.

"Huh?" Gary raised an eyebrow, surprised by Ash's determination.

"Pikachu, use Splishy Splash!" Ash called out. Pikachu immediately sprang forward, leaping high into the air.

"Splishy Splash?" Gary was puzzled. As Professor Oak's grandson, he was well-versed in Pokémon moves, but this was a technique he'd never heard of.

As Pikachu soared, golden electricity sparked across his body, wrapping him in a bright aura. Suddenly, water gushed from the cracks in the ground below, forming a massive wave that Pikachu rode from above.

Boom!

The colossal wave surged forward, with Pikachu bringing down lightning from above, riding the crest of the wave like a thunderous storm.

Electricity danced through the blue waves, the lightning weaving across them like a field of golden serpents.

Professor Oak's eyes lit up as he watched. "Ah, so this is what Ash told me about when he trained with Bill! I helped register it as an official move, but this is my first time seeing it live."

Gary, wide-eyed, could hardly believe what he was seeing. Pikachu, an Electric-type, using a water-based move mixed with electricity? This was beyond anything he had expected, and it shattered his understanding of what Pikachu could do.

"Elekid, counter with Thunderbolt!"

Gary didn't waver and quickly called for Elekid's strongest move. Elekid unleashed a powerful electric current, sending it surging toward the oncoming wave.

The crowd held their breath as the massive wave was about to crash down. But just then, a loud whirring sound pierced the air.

Whoosh!

Out of nowhere, a mechanical arm shot forward, snatching Pikachu right off the wave. Everyone's expressions shifted to shock, but before anyone could react, another mechanical arm extended and grabbed Elekid.

"Pika...?" Pikachu squeaked in confusion.

"Ele?" Elekid cried out in surprise.

Pikachu and Elekid's faces showed a mix of confusion and alarm as they dangled in the air. In the stands, Delia and the other spectators looked on, equally stunned.

"What's going on?"
