Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 106: Chapter 106: Setting Off, The Goal

"Trash!"

After defeating Arcanine, Ron showed no mercy as he delivered his verdict.

Generally speaking, no matter his opponent's strength, Ron seldom cared. After all, who hasn't been weak at some point? A loss or two is nothing significant.

As long as one strives to improve, transforms the pain of each defeat into motivation, sooner or later, they will grow stronger.

Just like Ash Ketchum, who, despite facing countless setbacks—being crushed in battles and having his Pokémon reset to lower levels each time he travels to a new region—has never given up on becoming a Champion.

People might call him naïve, but they cannot deny his determination and strength.

However, this time, Ron's opponent, Simon, was someone he simply could not stand.

Despite having a deputy commissioner as an elder brother, access to a transparent training regimen for Growlithe, and abundant resources, Simon had managed to train Arcanine to only this mediocre level.

Especially its Extreme Speed—it was only marginally faster than Quick Attack and fell far short of living up to the move's reputation.

Ron believed that almost any trainer could have done a better job than Simon, which is why he didn't hold back his critique.

Ignoring Simon's face, which had turned beet red with anger, Ron left the battlefield with his Machamp.

"Tell your family head that my business here is finished. There's no need for her to interfere any further—we're even now."

Casually passing these words to a member of the Murrigan clan, Ron prepared to leave the Yolton district.

If Simon dared to stir up any trouble, Ron was more than ready to respond—so long as Simon could handle the consequences.

Involving Akira, however, might create unnecessary complications.

Now, more than ever, Ron felt an urgent need to grow stronger—or to establish his own independent network for information and support. Otherwise, accomplishing his goals would always be unnecessarily difficult.

Burying this thought in his heart, Ron left the Yolton district.

After nearly ten days of rest, it was time to help his Pokémon level up again. At the very least, he needed to evolve his Ralts into a Kirlia.

With this small goal set, Ron sprang into action.

Meanwhile, Simon hurried back to Celadon City as quickly as possible.

After the battle, Simon had come to understand that he was no match for Ron. His only choice was to seek help from others.

The first thing that came to Simon's mind was to contact the factions that had invited him to battles in the past.

From Simon's perspective, with his elder brother holding a deputy commissioner's position, these groups should show him some respect.

For the average person—even League trainers—these groups wouldn't hesitate to push the blame onto Simon if things went south.

Their initial interest in Simon stemmed from their assumption that, as the deputy commissioner's brother, Simon must be competent. Coupled with his gullible nature, he was easy to manipulate into battles.

However, before taking any action, these groups decided to investigate Ron's background to avoid provoking someone they shouldn't.

Caution and prudence had been key to these corporations' and families' survival thus far.

To them, Ron's current information was practically an open book.

Learning that Ron was on good terms with two Ranger captains and was himself a talented and exceptionally strong trainer, these factions decisively abandoned any thought of aiding Simon.

With some clever persuasion from them, Simon became fixated on returning to Celadon City and asking his elder brother, Ryan, to stand up for him.

Both men left the Yolton district, but they took very different paths.

A fragile "hothouse flower," Simon chose the safest route—the League-maintained roads.

Ron, on the other hand, plunged into the forest to battle wild Pokémon around Ralts' level.

After accumulating so much training, Ralts now only needed sufficient combat experience to evolve.

Once inside the forest, Ron refrained from using Persian's assistance. Instead, he had Ralts use its psychic abilities to scan the environment and locate suitable opponents.

Channeling its psychic power, invisible waves radiated outward, quickly covering the area.

Through these waves, Ralts could detect the unique auras emitted by both humans and Pokémon—unless they were concealed by psychic energy stronger than its own.

Thanks to its natural talent in psychic abilities, Ralts could cover a range of up to 100 meters.

As Ron pressed forward, Ralts sensed more and more auras.

From these, it could roughly gauge the strength of potential opponents. After a few minutes, Ralts found its first target.

Once ready, Ralts used Teleport to quickly bring Ron and the group forward.

With Ron's fighting aura supporting it, Ralts didn't have to worry about stamina depletion.

After another successful Teleport, Ralts' stamina instantly recovered under Ron's fighting aura.

"Go, Ralts! Use Double Team!"

Appearing suddenly, Ralts launched its attack on a startled Rattata.

As multiple Ralts illusions charged forward, Rattata quickly snapped into battle mode, using Quick Attack to disperse the shadows.

"Ralts, use Growl, then Confusion!"

A cute yet startling cry left Rattata momentarily dazed.

The Confusion attack followed, its invisible force like a spear, sending Rattata flying.

"Ralts, teleport in close—Leaf Blade!"

As the command rang out, Ralts vanished.

A flash of green light followed as Ralts's Leaf Blade struck Rattata from the air.

"Ralts, use Disarming Voice and Confusion in succession!"

Landing steadily, Ralts continued its assault.

The enchanting melody of Disarming Voice caused Rattata sharp pain, while Confusion hammered its head.

With repeated attacks, Rattata's body grew weak, and waves of pain wracked its nerves.

"End its suffering, Ralts—use Psybeam!"

A powerful psychic force condensed into a beam of purple light, shooting toward Rattata.

Sensing the overwhelming danger, Rattata instinctively tried to escape, but its battered body couldn't comply.

The Psybeam struck Rattata directly, its fragile frame crumpling like a reed in a storm.

With this victory, Ralts leveled up to 15, only five levels away from its goal of evolving at level 20.
