Putting the pencil down as I close the book in my lap, I put the supplies away as the small mosswine herd leaves. Jumping down from the trees I land near their tracks and get up as a soft thud lands beside me.
" Master, should we head back it's already getting dark and you have done a lot of work," says my Lucario using telepathy.
" It's fine, I've already planned for us to be out here for a while," I say shouldering my big hiking pack. I start to walk off with Lucario beside me constantly keeping vigilance. As we walk I think of the other three Pokedex entries I catalogued today.

The moon shines overhead as Lucario and I continue through the lowlands. Many herbivores start to lay down in thickets to protect themselves. A few primal eevees rush out of a den and a larger Pokemon comes out with them. Looking like a grown Eevee with twin fluffy tails and strange beads in its neck fur I deduct this might be the normal evolution to primal Eevee.
Taking pictures and recordings of the family as I watch them. The eeveelution watching over the young eevees as they hunt small bugs and scurrying through the tall grass rough housing with each other. I smile at the scene and leave with Lucario who's lost in her own world.
Going towards the lowlands Tower we find ourselves in a grove of trees. Their towering trunks block out the night sky casting darkness inside the grove. Small fireflies zip around casting small lights. Walking through the grove Lucario suddenly perks up before me and I feel it soon after. The gaze of a predator.
Pokemon have hunted people before, especially if they're in their territory. Scythers are extremely dangerous as they have caused more casualties than most. The canine and feline Pokemon that have been in the wild also hunt humans. It's not the happy story of ash and Pikachu, no it's a survival of the fittest. As a ranger I've come across my share of cases that have this grim horror in it. Pokeballs help out on toning down the primal instincts but doesn't fully suppress them, only training and building a bond does this.
Walking with caution we stumble upon a recently deceased apotonoth. The wound still fresh as it's guts are shredded and tossed in a half circle from its open wound. Soulless eyes stare at the tree tops as its face has large chunks missing from it. As Lucario and I start looking around I'm suddenly pushed by her as she's tackled to the ground by a large great jaggi. As it snaps at her she uses close combat to beat it back but she's grievously wounded. Holding her reddening stomach she tries to conjure a Aura sphere but fails as she collapses her face gaining a purple tint. I recall her into her pokeball and start running after throwing a flare I brought driving back the great jaggi. As I run I hear the trees moving as the hunt has begun.
Pokemon battles in the gyms, and by trainers are carefully monitored and the Pokemon know restraint in those events so deaths are very rare. The wild is a different story, as the Pokemon only know about hunting and territory than sport. Pokemon are resilient to a lot of attack and I know Lucario will be safe but it's the set fear of loosing her that has me worried. Rushing towards the lowlands Tower and climbing it , I'm now safe.
Unpacking herbs and medicine along with some pecha berries I release Lucario and start working on her wounds. My medical training from ranger school has paid off as an hour passes and Lucario is healing on her own now. I drift off to sleep holding onto her.
