Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Me, Good Luck!
Ethan entered the bank, a folder of documents in hand while Timmy was perched confidently on his shoulder, instantly catching the attention of everyone in the lobby.
"What's that?"
"Is it a Pichu? No, it looks like Pikachu!"
"Wait... isn't that Ethan Grave the owner and boss of Pokémon Biotechnology Inc.?"
The sight of Timmy sparked recognition among the crowd. With its distinctive features and widespread fame, Timmy had become a living symbol of the company's groundbreaking work, representing its innovative strides in genetic bio-engineering. Among cutting-edge creations, Timmy stood out as an icon.
"Mr. Grave, welcome!"
Manager Henry approached with a beaming smile, a stark contrast to his previously dismissive demeanor during their last meeting. Ethan's skyrocketing success had transformed him into a highly sought-after client, with banks now competing for his business. Eager to mend past errors, Henry exuded warmth and eagerness.
"Please, follow me to the office. We can discuss everything in private."
Ethan nodded, following Henry into a sleek office. While a clerk processed the paperwork, Henry made small talk, his tone almost overly accommodating. The process moved quickly, and within half an hour, Ethan was handed the final form to sign off on the application.
Ethan reviewed it briefly before signing and sliding it back across the table.
"Mr. Grave, your loan application has been submitted. You'll receive an update within one to two business days," Henry said, collecting the documents with an air of confidence that suggested the approval was already certain.
"Great. I'll take my leave now," Ethan replied, gathering his belongings. Timmy twitched its ears and squeaked softly as they turned toward the exit.
Henry hesitated, the words "Let's discuss over dinner" hovering on his tongue. Ultimately, he held back, silently berating himself for undervaluing Ethan earlier.

By the next day, Ethan received confirmation that the 500 million dollar loan would be deposited into Pokémon Biotechnology Company's account within 48 hours.
Around the same time, Secretary Elijah called with more good news. A struggling biotechnology firm in Tarvok City was liquidating its assets, including a fully equipped laboratory. For just 80 million, Ethan could acquire the facility and its state-of-the-art equipment, an opportunity too good to pass up.
Later that day, Ethan met the company's owner, Boss Sun, for a walkthrough of the laboratory. The facility was vast, up to five times the size of Pokémon Biotech's current lab, and was jam-packed with cutting-edge equipment. It featured 800 medium and small culture tanks, 100 large tanks, and 10 super-large tanks, all in pristine condition.
"These tanks alone would cost 30 to 50 million yuan if bought new," Ethan thought, appreciating the exceptional value of the deal.
Boss Sun, a balding man with a tanned complexion, sighed heavily as they toured the premises. "I originally planned to sell this to the Panex Group, but their offer was insultingly low. Fortunately, Secretary Elijah connected me with you. I've invested over 100 million yuan into this lab, but here I am after just one year..."
"Was it poor management or an urgent need for funds?" Ethan asked, genuinely curious.
"Both," Boss Sun admitted with a bitter smile. "The genetic biology industry may look lucrative, but the barriers to entry are immense. It's not just about capital, you need breakthrough ideas, and those are rare. Someone like you, Mr. Grave, who created a marvel like Pichu... you're truly one in a million."
His admiration was evident. "Honestly, Mr. Grave, I hired an internationally renowned designer, yet they couldn't achieve what you have. Your talent is extraordinary."
Ethan shifted uncomfortably, knowing that his so-called 'genius' stemmed entirely from the system aiding him behind the scenes.
Boss Sun continued, "By the way, have you considered licensing your designs? Many companies focus on research, selling biological seeds for immense profits while leaving production to others. I know someone in sales with a large factory who could help you transition to this model."
Ethan smirked, recognizing the suggestion as a favor for a colleague of Boss Sun.
In the past, Ethan's company had relied on a similar model, purchasing genetic biological materials from larger firms and surviving on the leftovers. But now, with his company's growing influence and resources, Ethan was determined to rewrite the rules.
