Pokémon: Day Bringer

Chapter 43: I sucked

The night was a bit cold, as he pulled out his phone as he called Whitney few seconds later she picked up.

Whitney from the other side as she spoke. "Hi Haru, how have you been"

Haru heard her voice, as he spoke back. "yeah it is Good, I just called because I wanted to talk for a bit, today has been something".

Whitney then spoke. "Will as your Girlfriend, I should cheer your up"

Haru chuckled softly, her cheerful tone bringing a small smile to his face. "You always know how to brighten up my day, Whitney."

Whitney giggled from the other side. "That's my job, isn't it? So, what's been bothering you? Spill it, mister."

Haru hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to share. "It's just… been a weird day. Ran into some old ghosts from my past. Let's just say it wasn't exactly a pleasant walk down memory lane."

Whitney's voice softened, concern evident. "Haru… you know you can tell me anything, right? I'm here for you."

Haru took a deep breath. "I know, and I appreciate it. It's just... sometimes, things resurface, and it gets hard to handle, you know? But hearing your voice helps."

Whitney laughed gently. "Good, then I'll keep talking! Let me tell you about what happened at the Gym today—this one trainer thought they could beat my Miltank without any strategy. It was hilarious!"

Haru listened as she animatedly recounted the story, her energy infectious. Slowly, the weight of the day began to lift, and he found himself laughing along with her.

"See?" Whitney teased. "You're smiling, aren't you? Mission accomplished!"

Haru smiled, warmth spreading through him. "You're the best, Whitney. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Her voice softened again, this time carrying a teasing lilt. "Well, you'll never have to find out, will you?"

"No, I won't," Haru replied, his voice steady with affection. "Thank you for always being there."

"Always," Whitney said. "Now, get some rest, okay? And if you need me, just call. I'll be here."

"Goodnight, Whitney," Haru said, a faint smile still lingering on his face.

"Goodnight, Haru," she replied, her voice full of warmth.

As the call ended, Haru leaned back against Gyarados, the night still cold but no longer feeling quite so heavy. For the first time that evening, he felt a sense of peace.

Haru then went to sleep, as he was living through something his past once again, as he just sighed. He started to look at his past self.

He looked at him past self, as he was walking through what seemed like a church as next to his past self was Raven aka Whitney past life, he looked at hee as she was wearing a houd and a Mask, some how that hood manage ero always hide hee big chest he wonder's how that works was something he didn't know, the mask was white it completely hides hee face and makes her gender unknown perfect for an Assassin like her, let's say people thought she was a guy and when ever people showed how he was to her they thought he was Gay, will when her gender came out fully during the war it shocked everyone.

Haru then saw his past self walking, he swings open a big gate, as he finally remembered what day it was this day was when he was the most city person, his past self looked at a girl she was wearing prist like outfit, a prist hat a big chest with that of her hands cross she was praying her hair was long and pink as she had one to one face was Rose, as this was Elizabeth as she is Rose past life.

Elizabeth stopped praying as she saw who was the. "Able".

Haru then sighed as he Rember. "Able, my past name".

Able looked at her and grabbed her hand. "Come with me, you belong to my Kingdom not his".

Elizabeth looked at her as she spoke. "I maybe your lover, but I am your Brother and Reshiram priests".

Able them just looked at her with a narrow eyes. "I am not asking I am dragging you, I will make sure of that".

Elizabeth just looked at a bit scared as she screamed, worst for Haru it was the day his Brother Cain came to visit and will with his was his Legendary dragon Reshiram.

Cain looked at Able, as there eyes meet. "What are you doing on my Kingdom brother, not only that but how did get here".

Haru sighed seeing the memory, as he looked at it. "This started to go shit"

As Haru watched the memory unfold, the weight of his past hit him like a tidal wave. It was a part of his life he had tried to bury deep, yet here it was, dragging him back into the chaos of his old self, Able, and the tangled web of relationships, loyalties, and betrayals.

Able stared down his brother Cain, his voice cold and commanding. "Elizabeth belongs by my side, not in the hands of a kingdom that uses her as a puppet for their ideals."

Cain raised an eyebrow, his tone equally sharp. "And you think dragging her away against her will is any better? Do you ever stop to think about what she wants, Able? Or is it always about you?"

Able's fists clenched, but before he could respond, a roar echoed through the church. Haru's heart sank as Reshiram's massive, radiant form appeared behind Cain, its fiery presence making the air heavy with tension.

Elizabeth looked between the two brothers, panic evident in her eyes. "Please, stop this! I don't want a fight! This is holy ground!"

Able, however, wasn't backing down. He summoned his own Legendary Pokémon—Zekrom. The black dragon materialized beside him, its crackling energy creating an intense contrast to Reshiram's fiery aura.

Haru winced, knowing what was coming next. "Of course, I couldn't just let it go," he muttered, the memory replaying in vivid detail.

The brothers squared off, their Legendary dragons mirroring their aggression. Cain's voice was laced with disappointment. "You've always been reckless, Able. This is why you'll never truly lead."

"And you've always been a coward, hiding behind your titles and your rules," Able shot back.

Elizabeth tried to intervene, stepping between them. "Stop it, both of you! This isn't what we're meant to do!"

But her voice was drowned out as the dragons clashed, their energy shaking the very foundation of the church. Haru could feel the echoes of the battle in his soul, the guilt of his past actions gnawing at him.

In the chaos, Able grabbed Elizabeth's hand, pulling her away as the dragons continued their fight. "I'll protect you," he said, his voice softening as they ran.

But Elizabeth's expression was one of fear, not gratitude. "Able, you're destroying everything I hold dear! This isn't love—it's obsession!"

Haru's heart ached as he relived the moment. He remembered how the words had stung, cutting through his arrogance and leaving him hollow. It was a turning point, one that had set the stage for the tragedies that followed.

As the memory began to fade, Haru found himself back in the present, lying under the stars with his Pokémon still surrounding him. The cold night air felt heavier now, the echoes of his past weighing him down.

He looked at Gyarados, who nudged him gently, as if sensing his turmoil. "I don't deserve your loyalty," Haru whispered. "Not after everything I've done."

But his Pokémon didn't waver, their unwavering presence reminding him that, despite his past, he wasn't alone anymore.

Haru sighed deeply, his breath visible in the chilly night air as he spoke softly to himself, "Arceus, I really sucked back then... But, you know what they say—wisdom comes with age. And with this new life, maybe I can do better this time. Guess that's the whole point of a second chance."

He looked up at the stars, his thoughts swirling like the cold wind around him. The weight of his past, the memories of Able's arrogance, his selfishness, and the pain he caused to those he cared about—it all lingered. But now, it felt different. He wasn't the same person anymore. Haru was trying to be better, even if the shadows of his past life occasionally crept back in.

His Pokémon, sensing his inner conflict, gathered closer, their warmth and presence comforting him. Gyarados shifted slightly beneath him, giving a low rumble of reassurance, while Swampert placed a steady paw on his shoulder. Meowth curled into his lap, purring softly, a reminder that he wasn't alone in this journey.

Haru reached out, running his hand along Gyarados's smooth scales. "You guys really are the best," he murmured. "Even when I'm stuck in my own head, you're always here. I'll do better—for all of you and for myself."

The thought gave him a flicker of hope. With his Pokémon by his side and the chance to rewrite his destiny, Haru resolved to face whatever challenges lay ahead, even if it meant confronting more of the ghosts from his past.

The next morning, the sun peeked over the horizon, casting a warm glow on the campsite. Haru groggily stepped out of his tent, his expression weary, as if he'd carried the weight of a thousand battles in his sleep. Casey, already up and sipping on a cup of coffee, glanced at him and raised an eyebrow.

Casey smirked slightly as she leaned back against a tree. "Rough night?"

Haru looked at her, rubbing the back of his neck. "What?"

Before Casey could reply, James chimed in from behind, his tone light but teasing. "You look like you had five different nightmares rolled into one. Did a Gengar get to you or something?"

Haru shot James a tired glare but couldn't muster the energy for a retort. Instead, he let out a long sigh. "Something like that..."

Meowth, perched on a rock nearby, chimed in as well. "Kid's probably haunted by all those skeletons in his closet."

Haru rolled his eyes. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, Meowth."

Casey set her coffee down and gave him a more serious look. "Haru, if something's bothering you, you can talk to us, you know. We're here for you."

Haru hesitated for a moment, then shook his head. "It's nothing I can't handle. Just... memories."

Casey frowned slightly but didn't push further. "Alright, but don't bottle it up forever. Even you have limits."

James crossed his arms, grinning slightly. "You know, a good breakfast can fix almost anything. I'll go get started before Meowth tries to steal all the berries again."

Haru gave a faint smile at that, the warmth of his companions slowly easing the lingering weight of the night. "Thanks, James. I could definitely use some food right now."

As the group began preparing for the day ahead, Haru silently reminded himself of the promise he made the night before—to keep moving forward, no matter what ghosts tried to hold him back.

After arriving at the Pokémon Center, Haru approached the counter to collect a package sent by Professor Elm. Curiosity buzzed among the group as they watched Haru open it. Inside, he found a sleek bracelet with a Key Stone embedded in it, and a Mega Stone holder designed like a stylish necklace.

Haru's eyes lit up. "This is incredible," he muttered as he carefully attached Swampert's Mega Stone to the necklace. He then placed the necklace around Swampert's sturdy neck. The water-and-ground-type Pokémon let out a content growl, flexing its muscles as if already feeling the latent power coursing through the Mega Stone.

Excited, Haru used the Pokémon Center's videophone to call Professor Elm. After a few rings, Elm's familiar face appeared on the screen, smiling warmly.

"Haru! I see you got the package," Elm said cheerfully. "How do you like it?"

"It's perfect. Thanks for this, Professor. Mega Evolution is going to be a game-changer for my team," Haru replied, his gratitude evident.

Elm's expression turned thoughtful. "I also wanted to ask about your Meowth. When I studied its data, I noticed something unusual—it evolved into a completely different form than what we know. Can you tell me more about it?"

Haru nodded. "Yeah, Meowth evolved into something called Prefigther. It's definitely not the usual Persian evolution, but it's incredibly strong. The thing is, even after evolving, it still wants to be called Meowth."

Elm chuckled, adjusting his glasses. "Fascinating. Pokémon like that often have strong personalities. A unique evolution like Prefigther might hint at a deeper connection with you. I'd love to study it more if you're willing to share data in the future."

"Of course," Haru replied with a small smile. "But knowing Meowth, he might not sit still for a study session."

Elm laughed. "That's part of the fun of research. Keep up the good work, Haru. You're doing amazing things out there."

After ending the call, Haru turned back to his team, who were gathered around him. He glanced at Swampert, the necklace with its Mega Stone gleaming faintly in the light.

"Let's test this out soon," Haru said, determination sparking in his eyes.

Swampert let out an enthusiastic roar, ready for the challenges ahead. Meanwhile, Meowth stood proudly to the side, puffing out its chest as if to say, "Don't forget who the real star of the team is."

The group couldn't help but laugh, the moment lightening the lingering tension from the previous night.

James them looked at Haru. "Where do now"

Haru looked at his badge case. "Next gym, and no not Whitney as I said I am figting her with 7 badge which only lives her for my 7th badge"

Casey then looked at him. "Why are you figthing out girlfriend with more power".

James looked at her. "Probably because he wants to defeat the gate keeps with full power, that is all as for his 7th badge will I gess that only leaves".

Haru then spoke. "Clair, and she doesn't like me".

Jessie looked at him. "I thought all the gym leader like the prodigy of Johto"

Haru chuckled looking at his 6 badge's. "I may have deafete 6 years ago but the ending was"

Flash back

As it shows a 10 year old Haru with Whitney by his side as he looked at Clair. "Yeah I have wan, so can I get my final badge miss gym leader".

Clair looked at him as she spoke. "Get out"

As then both Whitney and Haru were kicked out of who was the strongest gym leader of Johto at that time, not that goes to Whitney, as they both looked confused and complain to the Pokemon league"

End of flash back

Haru just looked at them as he spoke. "Her and I have a complicated relationship".

James raised an eyebrow, looking at Haru curiously. "Complicated relationship? That's putting it lightly. What exactly happened between you two?"

Casey folded her arms, smirking. "I mean, getting kicked out of a gym after winning is pretty legendary. But how do you mess up with someone like Clair?"

Haru sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Clair's... proud. She doesn't like being shown up, especially by a kid. Back then, I wasn't exactly tactful either."

Jessie tilted her head. "So what you're saying is, you hit her pride?"

"More like shattered it," Haru admitted with a chuckle. "But I wasn't wrong. I did win fair and square, and I wasn't going to let her brush me off. Let's just say we had a heated exchange, and the Pokémon League got involved."

James leaned in, intrigued. "And what did the League say?"

Haru smirked. "They ruled in my favor. Clair had to give me the badge, but not before making it clear she wasn't happy about it. To this day, she still calls me 'that brat.'"

Casey burst into laughter. "So now you're planning to go back and fight her again? With your current strength, she doesn't stand a chance."

Haru nodded, determination gleaming in his eyes. "Exactly. I'm going to prove to her—and myself—that I'm not just some kid anymore. I want that victory to mean something, not just a technicality."

Jessie crossed her arms, grinning. "Sounds like you've got a score to settle. And honestly, I can't wait to see the fireworks."

Haru smiled, then glanced at his team. "This time, I'll face her with everything I've got. Swampert, Gyarados, Scizor, Electivire, Houndoom, and Meowth—we're going all in."

His Pokémon roared and cheered in unison, their determination matching Haru's.

James clapped him on the back. "Well, let's not waste any time. To Blackthorn City, right?"

Haru nodded. "To Blackthorn City. Let's settle this once and for all."

As the group set off, the anticipation for the upcoming battle buzzed in the air. Haru couldn't help but glance at his necklace, the Mega Stone for Swampert glinting faintly in the sunlight. This wasn't just about earning his seventh badge—it was about rewriting history.
