"Charmeleon, use Flamethrower!"
Weakened by burns and Charmeleon's Screech, Ursaring's attack lacked the force to overpower its opponent.
Meanwhile, Charmeleon's Blaze ability was activated as its stamina dropped. Enveloped by invisible flames, Charmeleon's fire-type moves became even more potent.
A fierce jet of flames erupted, rushing toward the exhausted Ursaring. Unable to evade in time, the Ursaring was struck directly in the face.
The flames' impact sent Ursaring staggering backward. With a final unsteady step, it collapsed to the ground, defeated but unwilling to surrender its fighting spirit.
Charmeleon stood tall, flames flickering around its tail as its eyes gleamed with triumph. No matter how grueling the battle, emerging victorious was all that mattered.
The audience broke into resounding applause, honoring the tenacity of both Charmeleon and Ursaring, who had battled to the very end.
"Great work, Charmeleon! Let's keep this momentum going," Tyson said as he patted Charmeleon on the shoulder, offering praise and encouragement. Together, they headed to the Pokémon Center to heal their companion.
The Day of Rest
The following day, the tournament organizers granted all trainers a rest day to recover from their battles.
"Alright, everyone, it's time for a light morning break. But I know you're itching to train, so let's get moving!" Tyson said with a grin.
"Charmeleon, keep up with the same routine as last night. We'll focus on maintaining your condition."
He then turned to Eevee, who gazed up at him with hopeful eyes.
"And Eevee… no changes for you—your training stays the same," he said with mock sternness, patting Eevee on the head.
Eevee's ears drooped in disappointment, its eyes wide with betrayal. Tyson loved his Eevee dearly, but strict training was essential.
"Alright, alright," Tyson said, softening. "Do your training, and I'll make sure you get your favorite snacks later."
Eevee's ears perked up at the mention of snacks, but it still tried to maintain a dignified demeanor as it trotted off to train. Tyson chuckled, shaking his head. Compared to Charmeleon, Eevee certainly needed a bit more coaxing.
While his Pokémon trained, Tyson reviewed strategies and studied past battles, ensuring he was prepared for what lay ahead.
Back to the Tournament
After a restful day, Tyson returned to the tournament arena. His match was scheduled as the third battle of the day.
Fortunately, Tyson avoided facing any of the elite trainers in this round, but they were featured prominently in the first match. The organizers, eager to energize the audience, paired an elite trainer against an opponent with a favorable type of matchup.
Despite this, the disparity in skill was undeniable. Type advantage only delayed the inevitable, and the elite trainer's overwhelming strength led to a decisive victory.
The second battle featured two Advanced-level trainers and showcased a thrilling clash of strategies.
Finally, it was Tyson's turn to battle. His opponent was a female trainer named Rina, whose partner Pokémon was a Pikachu.
"Battle Start!"
"Charmeleon, use Flamethrower!"
"Pikachu, counter with Thunderbolt!"
The referee's signal had barely faded when Tyson and Rina issued their commands.
Flames clashed with electricity midair, creating a dazzling display of sparks and light. But neither trainer was captivated by the spectacle; both were acutely aware of the strength their opponent had displayed in previous rounds. This was no ordinary battle.
"Charmeleon, use Ember in rapid succession!"
Spotting Pikachu's Trick move in Rina's strategy, Tyson preemptively ordered Charmeleon to interrupt.
"Pikachu, use Quick Attack to close the distance!"
Rina countered swiftly, relying on Pikachu's Static ability to cause paralysis if Charmeleon made contact. Pikachu weaved through the Embers with remarkable agility, racing toward Charmeleon.
Just as Pikachu prepared to land a decisive blow, Charmeleon unleashed Dragon Breath. The unexpected move caught Pikachu off guard, and the draconic energy overwhelmed its attack.
"Pikachu, reposition and counter with Thunderbolt!"
Regaining its footing, Pikachu fired off a burst of electricity. It collided with Charmeleon's Flamethrower, the two moves nullifying each other.
"Keep up the pressure, Charmeleon! Use Flamethrower again!" Tyson commanded.
Charmeleon continued to press Pikachu, aiming to exhaust its stamina. Tyson's strategy was clear: wear down the opponent and activate Charmeleon's Blaze ability to secure victory in the late game.
Pikachu's Final Gambit
"Pikachu, use Double Team to evade, then rush in with Iron Tail!" Rina called, seizing an opening.
Several Pikachu clones filled the battlefield, darting in all directions. Flames from Charmeleon's attacks pierced through the phantoms, narrowing down the real target.
"Charmeleon, use Ember to pinpoint Pikachu's location!" Tyson instructed.
Embers scattered, and the real Pikachu emerged, charging forward with an electrified tail aimed directly at Charmeleon.
But Charmeleon, already prepared, unleashed a final Flamethrower at point-blank range.
The fiery attack engulfed Pikachu mid-strike. Overwhelmed by the intense heat and energy, Pikachu collapsed, unable to continue the fight.
The referee raised his hand, signaling the match's conclusion.
"Winner: Tyson and Charmeleon!"
The Crowd erupted into cheers as Tyson walked over to Charmeleon, patting its shoulder with a proud smile.
"You did amazing out there, Charmeleon. Let's keep climbing!"
Charmeleon let out a triumphant roar, flames on its tail burning brightly as the pair prepared to take on their next challenge.
