That night, the device sent by Mewtwo unexpectedly updated its information.

However, this time, it only informed Kai that he needed to arrive at Vermilion City Port the morning after next, where the exact location of New Island would be disclosed.

In the dormitory of the Cerise Research Institute, Kai lay on his bed, feeling uneasy about the impending encounter with Mewtwo.

He tried to recall the story of Mewtwo Strikes Back. Unfortunately, since it had been such a long time, he could only vaguely remember that the entire event was related to cloning, though most of the details eluded him.

However, one thing was certain: once on the island, there would be an intense battle.

This thought made him frown. He couldn't predict whether Mewtwo's intentions were friendly or hostile.

As he mulled over the possibilities, Kai took out the Master Ball from his backpack, tossing it in his hands absentmindedly.

While he had loved capturing powerful Pokémon like Mewtwo in the games after finishing the storyline, living in this real world, where Pokémon had unique personalities and emotions, made him cautious.

Every Pokémon he had caught so far was one he genuinely connected with, and he had no intention of recklessly capturing others unless absolutely necessary.

Still, if danger awaited him on New Island, the Master Ball would remain his last resort against Mewtwo.

Vermilion City Port

After a night of rest, Kai left the Cerise Research Institute at dawn and arrived at Vermilion City Port.

The port was already bustling with trainers who had also received Mewtwo's mysterious invitation.

The excitement in the air was palpable as trainers eagerly awaited further instructions, ready to attend the gathering of the "strongest trainers."

Suddenly, the sunny skies turned dark as heavy clouds rolled in, followed by a fierce wind. In mere moments, a torrential downpour drenched the port.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

The rain fell in sheets, and the entire city was soon enveloped in a violent storm. Lightning illuminated the sky, and thunder roared as massive waves crashed against the docks, some towering over ten meters high.

Trainers and travellers scrambled for cover, rushing into the port's passenger hall to escape the relentless storm.

"What a downpour!"

"It was clear just a moment ago how did this happen so suddenly?"

The crowded hall was filled with wet and frustrated trainers and their restless Pokémon.

Kai, however, remained dry thanks to the protective barrier his Haunter had set up.

As Kai scanned the room, he spotted Ash, Misty, and Brock rushing through the doors, completely soaked from head to toe.

"Over here!" Kai waved them over.

The trio approached, shivering, and Kai handed them tissues from his bag.

"Thanks," Ash said as he wiped his face. "I told you guys Kai would be here! He probably got an invitation too!"

"Obviously!" Misty rolled her eyes. "Kai is way stronger than you. If you got invited, there's no way he wouldn't!"

"Alright, alright, stop bickering," Kai interjected before their argument could escalate. "Ash, you've got all eight badges now?"

Ash grinned proudly. "Yep! After we parted ways, I challenged Erika at the Celadon Gym. But man, she was tough! It took me two tries, but I finally got the Rainbow Badge!"

Kai nodded. "Well, Erika is one of the best Gym Leaders in Kanto, so that's not surprising."

"And she was really nice too," Misty added. "When we mentioned that we knew you, she even gave Ash some advice for the Pokémon League."

"Advice? That's surprising," Kai remarked with a chuckle.

"She said something about how Ash reminded her of you," Brock chimed in. "Though I'm not sure what she meant."

Kai shrugged, smiling. "Well, Ash, if you've got Erika's approval, you must be doing something right. Keep it up!"

As the group chatted, a commotion erupted in a corner of the hall. Trainers were gathered around Officer Jenny and a port official.

"What's going on?" Misty asked, craning her neck to see.

They overheard snippets of the conversation:

"The ferry's been cancelled!?"

"Does that mean we can't get to New Island?"

"I came all this way for nothing!"

Officer Jenny raised her hands to calm the crowd. "Everyone, please stay calm! The port manager will explain the situation."

The port manager stepped forward, her expression grim. "Due to the severe weather, all ferries have been grounded for safety reasons. No ships will be departing until the storm passes."

The crowd erupted in frustration.

"But we have to get to New Island!"

"This is ridiculous! How are we supposed to get there now?"

Kai glanced at the raging storm outside. He knew this wasn't a natural phenomenon it was Mewtwo's doing.

The storm was likely meant to test the determination and resourcefulness of the invited trainers.

Ash clenched his fists. "We can't let this stop us! There's gotta be another way to New Island!"

Kai nodded, determination shining in his eyes. 'If there's no ferry, then we'll have to find an alternative. Mewtwo invited us for a reason, and I don't plan on missing this gathering.'
