(A/N: Happy New Year, everyone! I hope this year brings you all success, happiness, and countless opportunities. Thank you once again for supporting this little project of mine. As a token of appreciation, here's a bonus chapter for you to enjoy—let's dive in!)
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The entire floor of the Mirage Tower shook violently as Tyranitar, the towering desert tyrant, grabbed Steelix by its massive metallic frame. With an almost savage glee, it slammed Steelix against the wall with bone-rattling force, leaving deep craters in the ancient stone.
"Steelix!" John shouted, his voice echoing through the chaos.
Tyranitar wasn't done. With a feral growl, it wound back and delivered a devastating blow—a Dynamic Punch—straight to Steelix's core. The sheer impact of the fighting-type move sent shockwaves rippling outward.
John winced. "Fighting-type moves… against Steelix? Seriously? Who taught this thing martial arts?"
The cracks on Steelix's diamond-hard body were a grim reminder that Fighting moves hit Steel-types with double the damage. And with Tyranitar's natural monstrous attack power, this was starting to feel less like a battle and more like a brutal wrestling match.
Steelix groaned, its enormous tail dragging limply. But it wasn't out of the fight yet. It glowed with a steely silver light, activating Iron Defense to harden its body further.
"Greninja, Gabite, Gardevoir—hit it now!" John barked.
The squad sprang into action.
Greninja darted forward, its Substitute already in play, splitting into two as it rushed Tyranitar from opposite sides. Gabite covered with a stream of Dragon Breath, and above them, Gardevoir summoned Moonblast after Moonblast like a relentless bomber.
For a moment, the battlefield became a chaotic symphony of glowing attacks, heavy impacts, and roaring cries.
But Tyranitar didn't even flinch.
With a snarl, it spun Steelix like a makeshift shield, blocking Gabite's Dragon Breath and swatting one of Greninja's clones out of existence. With a powerful swing, it hurled Steelix across the battlefield, sending the metallic serpent crashing into Gabite.
The sheer weight of Steelix, comparable to a Giga Impact, crushed Gabite into unconsciousness.
"Damn it!" John hissed. "Gardevoir, Teleport now!"
Reacting instantly, Gardevoir shimmered and blinked out of Tyranitar's line of sight, taking John with her.
As the dust settled, Tyranitar roared again. A menacing light surrounded it as it used Swords Dance, boosting its already terrifying attack power.
John could only watch as the red aura pulsed and crackled. "Oh, great. It just doubled its attack. Because that's fair."
Tyranitar's gaze swept across the battlefield. With its sandstorm armor still intact, breaking through its defenses seemed impossible.
But John wasn't ready to give up. "Greninja, Water Shuriken! Steelix, Iron Tail! Gardevoir, keep those Moonblasts coming!"
Greninja darted back into action, launching streams of spinning water stars. Steelix, battered but not broken, lashed out with its shimmering tail. Above them, Gardevoir rained down sparkling blasts of fairy energy.
Finally, cracks began to form in Tyranitar's sandstorm armor.
John's lips curved into a grin. "Time for a little trickery."
As Greninja's Water Shuriken flew, a small glowing orb trailed behind the last projectile. It floated slowly toward Tyranitar—a harmless-looking sphere of light.
Tyranitar didn't even hesitate. With a casual swipe of its claw, it slapped the orb away.
"Close your eyes!" John shouted suddenly.
Greninja and Steelix reacted immediately, shutting their eyes tight. John and Gardevoir, already prepared, slipped on sunglasses.
The orb exploded in a blinding flash of light—a Secret Flash.
Tyranitar roared in frustration as the battlefield was engulfed in an intense, disorienting glow. It stumbled backward, its vision momentarily overwhelmed.
John smirked. "Blinded by the light? Who's the desert tyrant now?"
With Tyranitar momentarily vulnerable, John seized the opportunity. "Greninja, Substitute and Water Shuriken! Gardevoir, keep up the Moonblasts! Steelix, finish it with Iron Tail!"
Greninja split into two once more, circling Tyranitar at blinding speed and pelting it with watery projectiles. Gardevoir unleashed a relentless barrage of fairy energy, and Steelix, summoning every ounce of its battered strength, swung its glowing tail with precision.
With a shattering sound like breaking glass, Tyranitar's Totem aura finally collapsed.
The battlefield fell silent for a brief moment as John's team regrouped.
Without its protective aura, Tyranitar looked vulnerable for the first time. But even now, it wasn't done. It roared defiantly, the echo reverberating through the tower.
"Don't get cocky, guys," John muttered. "It's still got plenty of fight left."
Tyranitar, now blind and furious, lashed out wildly, its claws slicing through the air. But without its aura, it couldn't keep up.
Greninja darted in close, slashing with Night Slash. Gardevoir's Moonblasts struck true, forcing Tyranitar back step by step. Steelix delivered one final, devastating Iron Tail, its massive body collapsing onto the battlefield.
With a final roar, Tyranitar fell, its massive frame slumping to the ground in defeat.
John wiped the sweat from his brow and smirked. "Well, that was easy."
Gardevoir shot him a look, unimpressed.
"Okay, fine," John admitted. "That was terrifying. But we did it!"
As the sandstorm cleared and the tower returned to calm, John recalled his Pokemon and approached the fallen Tyranitar.
"Looks like you've got some fight in you," he said, holding up a Pokeball. "What do you say we take this show on the road?"
With a flash of light, the Pokeball opened, and the towering titan disappeared inside.
For a moment, the ball shook violently. Then, with a satisfying ping, it stilled.
John grinned. "Welcome to the team, big guy."
