Pokemon: The Gameboy Effect

Chapter 118: Crushing

[Trigger BOSS Battle: VS Magma Team Admin Tabitha (extra rewards available upon victory)]

Tabitha stood firmly in the way, his Houndoom growling menacingly by his side. The atmosphere was tense, heat radiating from the nearby volcanic surroundings.

John didn't waste any time on pleasantries. His expression hardened as he stepped forward.

"Blaziken, Double Kick!"

Blaziken sprang into action, its fiery form darting forward like a blazing comet. Each step ignited the ground beneath its feet, leaving small trails of flame.

"It seems you've chosen to oppose Team Magma!" Tabitha snarled, his tone a mixture of frustration and unease. He had seen the power of this Blaziken firsthand, and his evaluation was straightforward: overwhelming and relentless.

"Houndoom, Smog!" Tabitha commanded.

make it Houndoom opened its maw and exhaled a thick, noxious cloud. Unlike ordinary smoke, this was laced with venomous embers that shimmered dangerously. But before the smoke could even reach its target, Blaziken had already closed the gap.

Moving faster than the eye could follow, Blaziken's legs glowed as it launched into a devastating combo.

Bam! The first kick struck Houndoom's jaw, sending it skyward. Before it could even begin to fall, Blaziken spun mid-air, delivering a second, brutal strike to Houndoom's midsection.

Thud!

Houndoom was hurled backward, crashing into the magma pool with a pitiful yelp. The movements were fluid, precise, and almost artistic in their execution, blending speed and raw power seamlessly.

Tabitha's eyes widened in disbelief. He couldn't even track Blaziken's attack. Instinctively, he retreated, his hand flying to his belt. In a desperate attempt to regain control, he hurled two Pokeballs.

In bursts of light, Electivire and Camerupt emerged, their forms flanking him protectively.

But John was already a step ahead. His voice rang out, calm and decisive:

"Gardevoir, Moonblast! Blaziken, Double Kick!"

Gardevoir appeared gracefully by John's side, its hands glowing with ethereal energy. The light condensed into radiant, pink spheres that streaked toward Electivire like meteors. Meanwhile, Blaziken pivoted sharply, its momentum shifting as it launched itself toward Camerupt with another powerful kick.

The battlefield exploded in chaos. Electivire was bombarded by Moonblast after Moonblast, each strike carving craters into the ground. Camerupt, on the other hand, took the full brunt of Blaziken's relentless Double Kick, each blow amplified by the fiery energy coursing through its legs.

When the dust settled, both Electivire and Camerupt lay defeated. The message appeared on John's interface:

[Defeated Electivire LV40, Gardevoir gained 3524 experience.][Defeated Camerupt LV40, Blaziken gained 3214 experience.]

Tabitha staggered backward, his confidence shattered. Pokemon that had once taken twenty minutes to defeat now fell in mere seconds. It wasn't just raw power; it was precision, planning, and execution.

"You won't be so lucky next time!" Tabitha spat as he retreated, his voice a mix of rage and humiliation. "I didn't bring enough Pokemon this time. But mark my words, next time, you'll regret it!"

John smirked coldly, his voice dripping with disdain. "Pathetic."

[BOSS Battle Victory! Reward: Sun Stone acquired.]

A shimmering stone imbued with sunlight's energy appeared in John's hand—a rare treasure-level evolutionary item.

Satisfied, John continued his ascent toward the summit of Mt. Chimney. The timer on his interface showed 55 minutes remaining, plenty of time to confront the mastermind behind Team Magma.

After ten minutes, he reached the summit. There stood Maxie, his red-and-black trench coat fluttering in the heated winds. He was operating a machine with calm precision but turned as John approached, his gaze sharp and unyielding.

"So, you're the Trainer who bested Tabitha?" Maxie's tone was cold, yet laced with curiosity. "I'll give you one chance: join Team Magma and witness the rise of the King of the Land! Together, we can expand the continent and ensure humanity's survival!"

Maxie's words carried conviction, a stark contrast to their previous encounter when he attacked impulsively. This time, he sought to explain his vision—a vision of a new world shaped by Groudon's power.

John stood firm. "Your Groudon won't bring salvation. It'll plunge the world into disaster! Continuous drought, unending Sunny Day weather—half of all humans and Pokemon won't survive."

Maxie's eyes narrowed, surprised by John's understanding of their plan. For a moment, he seemed to hesitate, but then his resolve hardened. "Fool! You'll never understand the greatness of our cause!"

With a sharp motion, Maxie released his Pokemon. Camerupt appeared once more, its massive form stomping the ground and causing a tremor. The earth cracked and groaned as Mt. Chimney's long-dormant magma began to stir violently!
