Pokemon: The Gameboy Effect

Chapter 120: MEGA Battle!

Maxie's face froze when he saw John's six Pokemon approach. The man had only sent out three himself. It wasn't that he wanted to limit himself to three; it was simply that after a recent battle with Team Aqua, all of his Pokemon were seriously injured. His options were slim.

But he wasn't one to go down easily.

"Camerupt, Lava Plume!" Maxie ordered, his voice full of cold determination.

"Krookodile, Sand Tomb!" he barked next.

"Magmortar, Fire Blast!" The intensity in Maxie's tone was unmistakable.

Mega Camerupt stamped his feet, shaking the ground with a mighty tremor. The volcano on his back erupted in a fiery explosion, spewing lava and smoke high into the sky. This wasn't just any eruption—it was a Lava Plume, a powerful area-of-effect move that would make anyone in its vicinity feel the heat.

John's Pokemon, however, weren't caught off guard. They were ready.

Garchomp's eyes blazed with fury as he launched himself forward, Dragon Claw raised high. With incredible speed, he slammed his claws into the ground, diving like a predator on the hunt. His target was clear: Mega Camerupt.

Behind him, Greninja and Blaziken were already on the move. Greninja, always the faster one, darted to the side, Substitute forming in his place as he avoided the oncoming Fire Blast. The real Greninja, now behind Magmortar, prepared for a quick strike.

Blaziken, no slouch himself, sped up with the power of his Reckless ability. He moved like a blur, taking advantage of the speed to unleash a brutal Double Kick to Krookodile before it could even react.

But the battle wasn't over yet.

"Gardevoir, Confusion!" John shouted, pulling her attention. She effortlessly redirected him from the Sand Tomb that Krookodile had summoned beneath their feet. Her psychic energy made her movements graceful, and her Moonblast slammed into the Ground-type Pokemon, leaving him reeling.

Meanwhile, Steelix stood tall in the background, his massive body absorbing the blows and protecting John. The enormous steel serpent was a fortress of defense, and he was ready for any of Maxie's next moves.

The battle turned chaotic as the Pokemon traded blows, dodging and countering with precision. Blaziken, still fueled by his powerful speed, had Krookodile trapped. With one powerful Force Palm, the Ground-type was sent crashing into the dirt.

BOOM! The sound echoed, like thunder through the battlefield.

Krookodile, stunned, tried to burrow into the earth to escape, but Blaziken wasn't about to let him. A quick Double Kick followed, sending the Ground-type reeling back toward Gardevoir's devastating Moonblast.

With a series of swift moves, Krookodile was done. The first of Maxie's Pokemon had fallen.

Magmortar wasn't far behind.

Maxie watched in horror as his fire-wielding partner unleashed another Fire Blast, only for it to be countered by Greninja. With his usual speed, Greninja Cut through the air, narrowly dodging the flames, and then launched a quick attack with his Quick Attack. The next thing Maxie saw was an "X" of slashes across Magmortar's chest as Greninja's sharp attacks cut through the fire Pokemon.

Magmortar collapsed, a powerful Pokemon taken down by sheer speed and precision.

Only one remained.

Mega Camerupt, his body covered in ash and smoke from the battle, was still standing. But it was clear: the fight was far from over. With his body heaving from the strain of the battle, Mega Camerupt summoned a Lava Plume to obscure his position. The explosion sent clouds of smoke billowing into the sky, masking his movements.

Garchomp wasn't fooled, though. His heightened senses allowed him to track Mega Camerupt's vibrations through the ground. Before the fire Pokemon could land a heavy Double Edge, Garchomp was already there, his Dragon Claw cutting through the air and connecting with Mega Camerupt's massive body.

Boom! The ground trembled under the force of the impact, the massive Pokemon hitting the dirt with a thud.

But Mega Camerupt wasn't done. His Force ability had boosted his attacks, and he wasn't going to give up that easily. With another earth-shaking Double Edge, he launched himself forward.

But Garchomp had learned. He avoided the incoming blow, using his keen sense of the ground's vibrations. Then, with a mighty roar, he completed his assault with another Dragon Claw, slamming into Mega Camerupt with all his might.

The battle was over.

Mega Camerupt fell to the ground, defeated. The once-mighty fire-type lay there, motionless.

Maxie stared in disbelief. His three Pokemon were down. He couldn't believe it. How had he lost?

John stood victorious, his team of six standing strong. Garchomp, Greninja, Blaziken, Gardevoir, Steelix, and Hariyama were a force to be reckoned with. They had faced down Mega Camerupt, Krookodile, and Magmortar—and come out on top.

"Looks like your team was no match for mine, Maxie," John said, a hint of satisfaction in his voice
