Pokemon: The Master Of Monsters

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: A Song For You

"Then I'll be the referee," Sabrina said with a smile.

She moved to the designated area and announced, "Now it's a one-on-one battle between Gary and Takahashi. The match begins!"

"Dodrio, show them our strength with Tri Attack!" Takahashi commanded, eager to attack first.

His Dodrio, which appeared to have just evolved, was ready for action. Takahashi immediately called for Tri Attack, a special move, though Dodrio's special attack stat was not particularly high.

"Beep! Beep! Beep!" The three heads of Dodrio opened their beaks, shooting out three different colored beams—red, yellow, and blue—each aimed directly at Blastoise.

"Hydro Pump!" Gary quickly responded.

"Kammy!" Blastoise bent slightly and launched two powerful Hydro Pumps from its shoulder cannons. The two blasts easily overwhelmed Dodrio's Tri Attack, knocking it back and dousing it like a drenched chicken.

"What!" Takahashi couldn't believe his eyes. His Dodrio, despite using Tri Attack, was easily beaten by Blastoise. It showed the massive gap in their power levels.

In reality, the level difference between them wasn't too large. However, Blastoise had the Mystic Water item, which significantly boosted the power of its Hydro Pump, making it much more formidable.

"Water Pulse, continuous fire!" Gary ordered, pressing the attack.

"Kammy!"

Blastoise unleashed a barrage of Water Pulses, sending a continuous stream of water balls toward Dodrio.

"Beep! Beep! Beep!" Dodrio quickly dashed to one side of the field, evading the attacks with its lightning speed. But Blastoise didn't let up, adjusting its aim and following Dodrio with more Water Guns.

Seeing Dodrio's speed, Takahashi immediately seized the opportunity. "Good! Quick Attack, now!"

Dodrio zipped across the field, leaving behind a series of afterimages, and crashed into Blastoise with a quick tackle, sending the turtle Pokémon stumbling back two steps. As Blastoise recovered, it tried to retaliate with a Water Pulse, but Dodrio easily jumped out of the way.

Gary was impressed. "This Dodrio is really fast," he murmured. He had previously underestimated its speed, but now he respected it more.

"Solid defense, Dodrio. Use Acupressure!" Takahashi called out. Dodrio, seeing that its Quick Attack didn't make much of an impact, used its beak to poke itself, enhancing one of its abilities at random.

"Now, Dodrio! Use Pluck!" Takahashi commanded, seeing the opening for a counterattack.

"Blastoise, withdraw into your shell!" Gary ordered.

Blastoise quickly retreated into its shell, preparing for the attack. Dodrio, eager to strike, pecked at Blastoise's shell with its beak, trying to break through.

Gary smirked. "Dodrio actually dares to approach. But it doesn't know that Blastoise can still fight back even in its shell."

"High-speed water flow burst!" Gary called out, deciding to end the standoff.

Blastoise spun rapidly in its shell, creating a vortex of water blades. The whirlpool effect made the water flow faster, turning it into razor-sharp projectiles.

"Beep! Beep! Beep!" Dodrio squawked in surprise. It hadn't expected Blastoise to counterattack in this manner. It tried to avoid the water blades, but was struck, flying several meters before crashing onto the ground.

"Beep..." Dodrio's heads drooped as it lay defeated, its eyes spinning in confusion.

"Dodrio is unable to continue fighting. Blastoise wins!" Sabrina announced.

Takahashi stood stunned, unable to process the outcome. His newly-evolved Dodrio had been easily outclassed in battle. He had hoped to test its strength, but instead, he lost in the first round.

"I won," Gary said simply, his voice filled with pride.

"Kammy!" Blastoise flexed its muscles, giving a confident grin.

Takahashi, though disappointed, honored the bet. "I lost. As agreed, the electric guitar is yours."

He handed over the guitar to Gary without hesitation. "You can play it as much as you want."

Gary smiled and took the electric guitar, feeling a surge of excitement. "Thanks, Takahashi. Sabrina, come here, I'll sing for you."

"Huh?" Sabrina blinked in surprise. She had been calm until now, but something about Gary's words made her heartbeat quicken.

Takahashi, understanding Gary's intentions, immediately smiled. "Oh, you're going to use the guitar to impress her, huh? Not a bad strategy, but you better sing well. Otherwise, it won't work."

The other onlookers, including some curious bystanders, began to gather around, eager to see what Gary was going to do. They had already witnessed the battle, and now they were curious about his performance.

Sabrina, though she tried to remain composed, was now flustered. "Gary... what song are you going to sing?" Her voice wavered slightly, betraying her nerves.

"It's a song I wrote myself," Gary replied with a grin. "If it's not good, don't blame me."

Sabrina rolled her eyes, clearly unimpressed. "Well, you're the one who's going to sing it. If it's bad, you're the only one to blame."

Gary laughed and quickly tuned the guitar, playing a few test notes to ensure it was in tune. Satisfied, he strummed a few more chords, and a light, melodic rhythm began to fill the air.

"I can't say why, I became very proactive."

"If you fall in love with someone, everything will be worth doing."

"I want to announce loudly that I can't let go of you."

"...!"

Gary's voice was full of passion as he sang the lyrics, his tone youthful and full of energy. Each note seemed to capture the attention of everyone around him, and he was quickly becoming the center of attention.

"Wow, what song is this? I've never heard it before. It sounds amazing!"

"He's incredible! Even at this age, he knows how to pick up girls with a guitar."

"Wow, what a handsome boy! I would wait for him for eight years."

The people around, especially the girls, were captivated by Gary's singing. The song, full of heartfelt lyrics, resonated with many in the crowd, making them swoon.

"I want to hold your hand like this and never let go."

"Can love always be pure and without sadness?"

"I... want to take you for a bike ride."

"I... want to watch baseball with you."

"I want to walk without worries... singing songs all the time."

"...!"

As the song reached its climax, Sabrina stood frozen, her heart racing. The lyrics seemed to mirror her own experiences with Gary—except for the baseball part. They had already done everything else mentioned in the song.

Her cheeks flushed as she realized that Gary's song was a reflection of the bond they shared. Her eyes softened as she gazed at him, her heart full of warmth.

The girls in the crowd looked at Sabrina with envy. If a boy as charming as Gary could sing such a song for them, they would want to marry him right away.

Sabrina, however, couldn't tear her eyes away from him. She could feel her heartbeat quicken as his voice continued to fill the air.
