Chapter 30: Arc 2: Chapter 14
"Sevianna, you unfilial child! I said get over here!" Chief Louscatt shouted once again. His heart was in utter disbelief at the sight in front of him. Never mind the fact that she was with a human before, but now she was actually with a devil?!
Sevianna seemed to have just noticed his presence. She turned her head and glared menacingly at her father. Even though he was her biological parent, she could not restrain the growing hate in her heart.
"Oh? Greetings, mister."
Chief Louscatt's eyes widened. Mister?! "Sevianna!" He was thoroughly enraged.
"Mister, mn!" Sevianna nodded matter-of-factly, her gaze cold as she looked directly into his eyes. "What's wrong? Don't tell me you've forgotten the fact that you disowned me?"
Chief Louscatt's veins bulged in anger. He wanted to retort but could not deny the fact that he had indeed disowned her. His chest heaved up and down as he tried to restrain his rage. With a softer voice, he said, "Come back. Your mother is waiting for you."
'Ha! So this was the reason why he wanted Sevianna to return to the town. The woman he loved had finally come back!' Sevianna sneered.
Her mother had indeed returned, but what troubled Chief Louscatt was the realization that the one she sought upon their reunion was none other than her own daughter. She even announced that she would not be willing to live in the town again unless Sevianna was there!
He dared not force her, so he could only search for Sevianna and try to make her return.
Sevianna felt a bit of interest in this mother she had never met. But that feeling was nothing more than curiosity, and she had no intention of letting it deepen. She gave Chief Louscatt a deadpan look before turning her focus back to healing Adounis.
Seeing that even Chief Louscatt's words failed to stir her, Brand was growing anxious. Fine. She didn't want to return peacefully? Then he would just use force.
Brand vanished before reappearing in front of Adounis, intending to take Sevianna from his arms, but Adounis was quick to react, hopping back a few meters. Brand landed on the empty ground.
"Sevianna! That is a devil, for goodness' sake!" he desperately shouted.
Sevianna was once again disturbed, and annoyance began to bubble within her. She couldn't understand Brand's obsession, especially when he was clearly the real cause of her death in her original fate. She knew that if she didn't confront him with the truth, he wouldn't stop.
Sevianna made a decision. Besides, Adounis's sorry figure earlier had been the final thread that broke the defenses around her heart. She could finally say the words she had longed to say.
She turned to face the two men, their faces grave and desperate. Her demeanor seemed to soften, and a sweet look appeared on her face, startling them.
"I know he is a devil."
She started to say.
"But I love him. So what?"
Then, she gave them a bright wide smile that reached from ear to ear along with her sparkling eyes that flashed with a bit of playfulness.
This was the truth coming from her heart.
Suddenly, Sevianna radiated a white light. It emerged from her chest and grew larger until it enveloped her entirely. The light was warm and comforting, and Sevianna narrowed her eyes in pleasure.
While she reveled in the warmth, everyone's eyes widened as they watched her black wings and black hair turn white. It was as if white paint had been dropped onto her dark hair and wings, completely erasing any trace of the darkness.
Chief Louscatt was the one most affected by her transformation.
He knew the curse all too well. It would have been fine if Sevianna was merely indulging in puppy love—that he could accept. But when he discovered that she had truly fallen in love, he knew for certain that she was deeply committed. As someone who strictly adhered to tradition and the book, Chief Louscatt could no longer accept his daughter. Especially since he knew that no fallen angel had ever broken free from this curse.
And yet...
Sevianna was still unaware of the changes occurring in her body, but she noticed that Adounis had suddenly stopped breathing. She glanced at him, a look of concern on her face. "What's wrong?"
Lily: 'Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!'
Sevianna was startled. 'What happened?!' She was so confused as to why Lily was bouncing all over her head, throwing confetti bombs everywhere.
Lily did not stop. 'And here we thought that the second wish was the hardest!'
Sevianna could not keep up with Lily's pace. 'What second wish?'
'The original soul's wish! The, "I want to be an angel again"! The second wish!' Then she proceeded to explode more confetti bombs until Sevianna's head was so full of it that she felt a bit dizzy.
The dizziness was immediately washed away however when a butterfly touch landed on her lips. "I've already recovered. Don't heal me anymore."
Sevianna was stunned by the sudden kiss.
She timidly nodded her head and retracted her weakly glowing magic. She was actually still subconsciously healing him and she might not have noticed it if he hadn't said anything. Already feeling the after-effects of her drained strength, she furrowed her brows while trying to hold back her eyes from falling.
"Sleep. I'll take care of everything." Adounis knew that she was tired and it was all because of him. Although his heart was aching at her weary state, he was overjoyed that he got such privilege.
Sevianna did not doubt his confidence. She slowly succumbed to her sleep and her breathing was quickly steady. She really was exhausted.
Sevianna was completely unaware that not only was she able to heal Adounis' internal and external wounds, she had also strengthened him.
Adounis had felt his power increased earlier and knew that Sevianna was overdoing her healing. So he made her sleep lest she fainted from exhaustion.
He swept a hostile gaze over the frozen men—one was in disbelief over Sevianna's transformation, while the other was more shocked by her words. Remembering that sweet voice as she confidently confessed her feelings to him, Adounis could do nothing to stop his heart from swelling with joy.
Finally, he had won her heart.
He needed to finish things quickly so that Sevianna could rest properly at the castle. Though his strength had increased, he knew it wasn't enough to drive the enemies away, much less kill them. Using telekinesis, he drew a black sheet of paper from the side of his robes. Written on it in white, heroic font was "Seniorem Draco." This would likely be his only chance to use it in his lifetime, but he didn't hesitate.
He manipulated the wind into a blade and tore the black sheet in half, watching it burn with purple flames.
There was a moment of silence before a loud roar shook the ground and the sky. Gradually, the heavens darkened with lightning and thunder, some bolts even striking the ground. The clouds swirled and parted, revealing a violet dragon more than a hundred feet long, its golden-rimmed horns gleaming and its red eyes glowing.
It landed behind Adounis, causing dust to fly in all directions. Adounis quickly shielded himself, ensuring the dust wouldn't disturb Sevianna's sleep.
"Little prince. You called this lord?" The dragon dipped its head slightly to get a better look at its old friend. But then its attention was drawn to the girl in Adounis' arms. In her, he saw the purest holy aura he had ever witnessed. The dragon's eyes widened.
"This child is...?" He tried to steady his trembling voice, but to no avail.
Adounis, trusting his old friend, said nothing about the dragon's strange reaction. "Sevianna, my wife."
"Insolent!" "Bastard!"
The angry duo immediately retorted. Brand even cast another of his combusting light spells, but the dragon merely waved it away with the help of his wings. Then, using an invisible force, he trapped them in place. When he was sure they couldn't move a single muscle, he turned to Adounis with a wide grin.
"You lucky brat! Do you even have any idea what this girl is?!" He could never mistake a pure holy aura.
Adounis didn't show much reaction to his words, but his curiosity was piqued. He questioned the dragon with a glance.
The dragon's grin widened. "She's a seraphim! Never thought I'd get to see a newly born seraphim!" His eyes sparkled as he looked at Sevianna.
He was the lord of the sky, so he had naturally encountered all ranks of angels. But due to the curse, the highest rank of angels had been stuck at dominions. The King of Angels had been in a dilemma for centuries. Who would have thought a seraphim would appear in the demon country?
Wait... Did he just said the girl was his wife?
The dragon was troubled. "This is bad. Little prince, you have to look after your wife!" Between the angels and his friend, the dragon unhesitatingly chose his friend.
When the dragon smoothly called Sevianna as Adounis' wife, the two people stuck on the ground were about to die from anger.
Adounis, however, looked very pleased.
"That Anhel would definitely come knocking at your door!" The dragon growled when the man's image he mentioned popped up in his mind.
Adounis could not help but be surprised. Then, he sighed in helplessness. He had just taken care of Sevianna's father and her ex lover but now there was even the King of Angels? When will they be able to live their life peacefully?
"Tell you what—" The dragon suddenly got excited as he thought of a brilliant plan. Bright golden lights shot out from his body until he burst into particles.
In his place, a young man with purple hair and golden eyes appeared floating above Adounis, wearing a violet robe with golden rims. He landed softly a few steps away from Adounis. Their heights were about the same. "I'll help you defend against that pretentious King!"
The thought of clashing with Anhel, the King of Angels, made his battle-hardened heart beat fast.
Adounis had thought that this was the last time they would see each other. He had not hesitated in using the last summoning spell he had, but he was still a little sad to say good bye to this childhood friend of his. Turns out that because of Sevianna, he could spend more time with his friend.
"Then that settles it. Right, Shyvva. Help me clean up here first." He turned towards Brand and Chief Louscatt with red glowing eyes. "Just don't kill the Chief. He is still Sevianna's biological father."
His words made Chief Louscatt's face shift through all kinds of shades—red, then green, and finally black. Even if he was not restricted by Shyvva's force, he would definitely still not be able to do anything. After all, Adounis was simply stating facts. Whether he liked it or not, it was the truth.
Brand on the other hand finally understood what terror mixed with helplessness meant. He couldn't even lift his finger, and Shyvva was happily skipping his way. He hadn't even gotten Sevianna back and now he was also going to die?!
He was not willing.
He condensed all his strength into one hand and sent it to the skipping Shyvva.
It was everything he had left.
Adounis could also feel the strong magical force he had released and his heart turned cold. He was still weak. He had to get even stronger so that he could protect Sevianna.
Shyvva, however, kept skipping without any intention of dodging the oncoming ball of light. When it touched him, it didn't explode as expected—instead, it simply dispersed.
Brand watched in horror as all of his power simply disappeared before his eyes. That was it. He was done for. He had already used up all of his power in that one attack, and it hadn't even left a scratch.
