Rebirth Counterattack: I Heard That the Imperial Marshal Has a Crush on Me

Chapter 81

After Chu Muxi uttered two words indifferently, he stood there without moving, his expression calm and composed, showing no signs of being flustered by being followed and intercepted in a deserted alley.

This demeanor didn’t resemble that of a sophomore student, causing those lurking in the shadows to hesitate.

“Not coming out? Then I’ll leave. If I walk out of this alley, you’ll never have a chance to attack me again,” Chu Muxi said thoughtfully, as if he were an old pro at handling such situations.

Several people in the dark gestured to each other and conversed silently:

[Boss, should we confront him?]

[Is he bluffing us? Maybe he hasn’t spotted us at all.]

[He seems calm, but does he have a backup plan?]

[What options could a student like him have? Is it because of his connections? If so, I might reconsider, haha.]

[Enough chatter. Third boy, go out and initiate the confrontation.]

[Alright, boss.]

A thin man with sinister eyebrows emerged from the shadows, dangling a cigarette and clad in a black vest, leering at Chu Muxi. “Young Master Chu, I’ve admired you for a long time.”

“What exactly have you admired about me for so long?” Chu Muxi’s gaze remained indifferent. “Is it the fallen Chu family or perhaps Chu Tianhao, now behind bars? Let’s be honest. Who sent you here?”

“You are quite sharp-tongued. Young master, I never realized you were so eloquent. I wonder if you can put that skill to use elsewhere—” His expression turned horrified, eyes widening as if struck by an unseen force. Before he could finish his sentence, he collapsed backward, lifeless.

His demise was swift and silent.

Several muted groans emanated from the darkness, followed by another figure emerging. With deference, he addressed Chu Muxi, “Young Master Chu, the others have been taken care of.”

“I was just about to inquire about their identities. They’ve revealed themselves now. You better caught them all,” Chu Muxi instructed, eyeing the individuals before him. They were the bodyguards provided by Lu Junzhi to secretly protect him.

Contrary to what he had told Cen Xue, Chu Muxi hadn’t been roaming alone.

The mastermind behind Chu Tianhao’s downfall had yet to reveal themselves. Perhaps they were waiting for him to be alone. Sensing that the matter wasn’t concluded, Chu Muxi anticipated further actions against him.

“He dared to show disrespect to the young master. We can’t let them go,” the man coughed, offering an explanation.

Chu Muxi couldn’t help but chuckle. “Alright, I won’t interfere in this matter.” He waved his hand, and the man stepped back, retreating into the shadows and becoming invisible once again.

While the two was speaking just now, the individuals on the ground had already vanished, as if nothing had transpired.

Chu Muxi smirked and made his way outside.

.

Unbeknownst to him, behind him, several people tasked with protecting him also began to converse:

[Captain, why did you lie to Young Master Chu about that person’s death? We’re from the regular army, and we don’t randomly kill people in the Central Star. What if Young Master Chu misunderstands us?]

[I suppose the captain wanted to test Young Master Chu. Unexpectedly, Young Master Chu wasn’t afraid to speak out in the face of danger, and he remained calm and composed even when someone died in front of him. He truly is the person our boss admires.]

[Be quiet.]

.

Chu Muxi opened the door and walked straight into the dessert shop. As expected, there were no customers inside.

“Teacher, I’m back!” he announced.

“Say whatever you want, no need to shout! I’m not deaf, I can hear you!” Mr. Barlow emerged impatiently from behind, glaring at Chu Muxi. “So, you still remember to come here! I should kick you out of my class. What’s the point if you don’t study hard and just hang out with others?!” the old man said sarcastically.

Chu Muxi immediately stepped forward, adopting a playful tone. “Oh no, teacher, you can’t slander me like that. Once you become a teacher, you’ll be a half father forever. But hey, at your age, I won’t take advantage of you.”

“What nonsense are you spouting?” Mr. Barlow retorted. “What if I’m not worthy of being your father?”

Chu Muxi replied with embarrassment, “I’d be honored to call you father, but I’m afraid you won’t be pleased.”

“What do you mean?” Mr. Barlow demanded, glaring.

“I mean, my grandpa is still around. If you were to be my father, wouldn’t you be a generation younger than my grandpa? I’m just thinking of your well-being!” Chu Muxi said confidently.

Mr. Barlow huffed, finally unable to contain himself as he raised the spatula and shouted, “Get out of here!”
