Chapter 2: Chapter 2 : The Accident
The morning sun was still struggling to rise as Lin Fei made his way to school, his footsteps heavy and heart even heavier. He barely noticed the crowd of students hurrying to class, their voices loud and carefree. His mind was consumed by the crushing weight of his life his broken family, the relentless bullying, and the emptiness that seemed to fill every part of his existence. Nothing seemed worth fighting for anymore.
Today, like any other, was just another step in his miserable routine. After a sleepless night filled with restless thoughts, Lin Fei barely had the energy to keep his eyes open. The world around him felt dull, gray, as though it were slowly bleeding away any color or hope he had left. His classmates never spared him a second glance, and he had long ago stopped expecting anything different. He was a ghost in their eyes, unnoticed and insignificant.
As he trudged down the sidewalk, lost in his thoughts, the sound of a sleek engine revving cut through his dull reverie. Lin Fei barely looked up before a luxurious sports car sped past, its tires screeching as it cornered the road. The car was an eye-catching shade of pearl white, the kind of vehicle that only someone with an immense amount of wealth could afford.
Suddenly, he felt an inexplicable sense of urgency. He glanced to his left just in time to see the car was heading toward him at very high speed. Before he could react, he got hit by the car.
Su Qing sat behind the wheel of her car, her hands steady on the steering wheel. She was used to the stares that followed her every movement. Beautiful, intelligent, and born into an influential family, she had it all. Yet, there was always something missing something she couldn't quite grasp. Her life was perfect on the surface, but the weight of her responsibilities, expectations, and the stifling loneliness she often felt was a constant companion.
That morning, as she drove toward her private school, her mind wandered. Her father had been pressuring her to focus more on her study. It wasn't that she didn't care about her studies on the contrary, she was one of the most talented students. But at that moment, she wanted peace. She needed a break from everything, even if just for a moment.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sight of a young man on the sidewalk, his head down, walking with a lethargy that seemed foreign to her. There was something about him something broken, something she could almost feel from here. It was as though the weight of the world was on his shoulders.
But before she could give it a second thought, the car swerved.
Her heart skipped a beat.
"No!"
She slammed her foot onto the brake, but it was too late. The car hit him with a sickening thud.
Lin Fei's world blurred. The pain shot through his body in waves, his vision spinning wildly as the sound of screeching tires and frantic shouting filled his ears. The air around him seemed to thicken, his breath becoming shallow as his body crumpled to the ground. The world around him seemed to vanish into a haze.
Through the blur, he saw a figure running toward him someone's voice shouting in panic, calling for help. The voice was gentle, but it seemed so distant, as though it were coming from the far end of a long tunnel.
Su Qing rushed out of the car, panic surging through her as she knelt beside the injured boy. His body was limp, blood oozing from various wounds, and his face pale. His clothes were stained, and he was unresponsive, his eyes half-closed.
"Hey Hey" Su Qing's voice trembled as she frantically checked for a pulse. "Please, answer me!"
She looked around, but the streets were empty. In a moment of desperation, she pulled out her phone and dialed for an ambulance, her fingers shaking.
But it was clear that the damage was severe. Lin Fei had been struck with tremendous force.
"Please don't die!" she cried, tears welling up in her eyes.
As she looked at him, she noticed how fragile he seemed. His face once stoic, now pale was etched with an overwhelming sadness that Su Qing couldn't help but empathize with. His wounds were grave, but more than that, there was something about his expression something so lonely, so abandoned that made her heart ache.
Her chest tightened as the ambulance finally arrived, and they rushed him to the hospital. Su Qing followed closely behind, unable to tear her eyes away from the unconscious boy. She didn't know why, but something deep within her told her that this wasn't just any accident. This boy, this stranger, was somehow connected to something much bigger than either of them could understand.
At the hospital, Lin Fei's condition worsened. The doctors did everything they could, but nothing seemed to help. His body was on the brink of death, and his vital signs were slipping away rapidly. The last thing Lin Fei could feel was the coldness of the sterile hospital room.
But then something strange happened.
A voice whispered through his fading consciousness.
"You are not alone."
It was a deep, powerful voice that seemed to resonate from somewhere far beyond. As Lin Fei's body shut down, something else awakened within him something ancient, something vast. The memories of Xiao Dong, the young master of the powerful Dao Lake Sect, rushed into his mind. His experiences, his past, and the secrets of his cultivation power flooded Lin Fei's consciousness. It was as though Xiao Dong's soul had fused with his, and Lin Fei was now standing at the crossroads of two lives his own and Xiao Dong's.
Lin Fei's consciousness fought to stay intact, the fusion of memories overwhelming his senses. There was no time to process it all the information, the power, the burden of Xiao Dong's destiny. But the final wave of energy hit him with the force of a crashing wave.
Lin Fei's heart stopped.
For a moment, everything was still.
But then, his eyes fluttered open.
The first thing Lin Fei saw was Su Qing's face, her worried eyes peering down at him. His breath caught in his throat. She was still there.
But as his mind processed her image, another one flashed before his eyes Xiao Dong's life, his memories. His entire existence had merged with this new body, and as the memories settled, Lin Fei realized the truth: he was no longer just Lin Fei.
He was now Xiao Dong, the young master of the Dao Lake Sect, the heir to unimaginable power.
