Chapter 24: Morning in the Heavenly Dragon Palace
When Yuanjiu woke up, it was already the next morning.
She opened her eyes and was surprised to see many small toys hanging above the dragon bed—crystal-clear spheres, a green cloth frog, star-shaped ice-blue crystals, a red toy apple, and colorful wind chimes.
It was then that Yuanjiu finally realized something: Ouyang Qingcheng was serious about keeping her by his side.
A little bit dazed, she blinked her eyes and tilted her head, noticing the four palace maids—Xiaoci, Xiaoyi, Xiaoer, and Xiaosan—standing respectfully at both ends of the massive dragon bed.
However, Ouyang Qingcheng was nowhere to be seen.
As soon as they noticed she was awake, the four maids began their tasks in an orderly fashion, each of them knowing their role under Ouyang Qingcheng's meticulous instructions.
Xiaoci approached and whispered softly, "Nine Princess, please allow this servant to hold you."
At the same time, Xiaoyi quickly walked out, most likely to summon Yuanjiu's wet nurse.
Xiaoer brought warm water to wipe Yuanjiu's face and hands while Xiaoci held her securely.
Meanwhile, Xiaosan efficiently tidied up the bedding.
Shortly after, Xiaoyi returned with Hanxue, who greeted Yuanjiu cheerfully and took her into her arms.
She then offered her a bottle and placing it at her lips.
Although Yuanjiu wasn't sure why the wet nurse wasn't the one feeding her, she was delighted that she didn't have to drink like a typical infant.
It was milk.
Yuanjiu eagerly opened her mouth and drank greedily.
Xiaoci chuckled softly, "The Princess is truly well-behaved."
"Of course, our Nine Princess never causes trouble," Hanxue said proudly.
Deep down, she was still reluctant that she was no longer allowed to nurse Yuanjiu personally.
Having cared for Yuanjiu for so long, she had come to treat her as her own child.
Yet, since Ouyang Qingcheng still trusted her to look after Yuanjiu, she felt content.
Xiaoyi's face showed tender affection, although she di not dare to pinch Yuanjiu's chubby cheeks.
Even if Yuanjiu was just a child, such actions would still be considered presumptuous.
After feeding her, Hanxue meticulously bathed and dressed Yuanjiu, then, as usual, carried her around the room while speaking in a lighthearted and amusing tone.
Only now did Yuanjiu have the opportunity to examine her future living space.
Her first impression was that the bedroom was incredibly big.
The entire room was divided into three sections from the outermost to the innermost areas.
The outermost part served as Ouyang Qingcheng's resting area, which functioned like a lounge.
It was the place where the imperial concubines and royal children would come to pay their respects.
The most striking feature was a tall and silvery-gray bookshelf with eight levels.
The top two levels were adorned with finely crafted magical crystal ornaments, while the bottom six levels were filled with books of varying thickness—at least five or six hundred volumes in total.
Further ahead stood a desk with ink, brushes, and paper arranged neatly on it.
To the left of the desk was a comfortable chaise lounge, Ouyang Qingcheng's personal seat.
