Chapter 40: Lessons in Power
Ouyang Qingcheng took a sip of tea and offered a hint, "My darling, in your opinion, what does this so-called Gongsun rely on to act so arrogantly?"
Gongsun Lan's face turned stormy. "You!"
Yuanjiu answered, "It's either wealth, power, or his own abilities."
The other patrons in the hall found the father and daughter dialogue highly entertaining.
Many of them were watching the scene unfold with amusement.
Some of them who had long been resentful of Gongsun Lan but did not dare to confront her, were delighted to see someone put her in her place.
Others who are familiar with Gongye Chang's cruel and domineering behavior in the imperial city were more concerned for Ouyang Qingcheng and his companions.
Ouyang Qingcheng nodded his head in approval and lifted Yuanjiu to stand on his lap. "Exactly. For someone like this, as long as your wealth, power, or abilities surpass her, you can easily suppress her. Cailun, why are you still standing there?"
"Yes, sir," Cailun replied, stepping in front of Gongsun Lan. "Miss Gongsun, I must ask you to leave immediately. Otherwise, I can assure you that in less than half an hour, your Gongsun family's Gladiator Arena will be renamed."
"You think you can scare me, Gongsun Lan? I've never seen anyone like you in the imperial city!" Gongsun Lan sneered, relying on her supposed understanding of the city to dismiss them. "And you, handsome guy," she said, her eyes fixed on Ouyang Qingcheng, "I will have you today. Guard, catch them!"
Gongsun Lan's disbelief in Ouyang Qingcheng's influence stemmed from the fact that they were dining on the second floor, which wasn't considered a particularly prestigious area.
In his narrow view, true nobles would never lower themselves to dine there.
Her ignorance blinded her to the concept of "experiencing life."
At Gongsun Lan's command, seven or eight people stepped forward from behind him.
It was evident from their auras that they all possessed magical power at or above the sixth level.
"Shadow."
When Ouyang Qingcheng softly called, "Shadow," four dark figures appeared before them and said in unison, "Master."
"Jin Yi, take over the Gladiator Arena. As for the name, let's call it 'The Ninth Arena.' Jin Er, Jin San, and Jin Si, handle them immediately. Make sure this lustful woman lives a fate worse than death."
With that, Ouyang Qingcheng picked up Yuanjiu, and with a flicker of his figure, they were already outside the restaurant.
At the age of two, Yuanjiu acquired her first enterprise—the Ninth Arena.
Yuanjiu could still hear loud banging sounds from upstairs, mixed with agonized wails and then a sharp, blood-curdling scream.
Before long, a shadow flickered, and Cailun suddenly appeared.
"Master, Gongsun Lan spoke disrespectfully toward you. Her tongue has been removed, along with her..."
To avoid leaving a psychological shadow on the little princess, Cailun relayed the rest telepathically to Ouyang Qingcheng, so Yuanjiu didn't hear it.
Ouyang Qingcheng nodded and looked at Yuanjiu. "My darling, are you tired?"
Yuanjiu shook her head. "I want a magical beast egg."
