Reborn as Petunia Evans with a System

Chapter 22: Chapter 22

The Hogwarts Express rattled along the tracks, the rhythmic clattering blending with the hum of conversation in the cozy compartment. Petunia, Lily, and Severus sat together, their trunks neatly stowed and their familiar warmth filling the space.

"So, what are your plans for the holidays?" Severus asked, his dark eyes flicking between the sisters.

Lily grinned, her green eyes sparkling. "Mum wrote that we're going to France for Yule! Can you believe it? Paris, snow, and all the lights. It's going to be magical."

Petunia nodded. "She's been planning it for weeks. Said she wanted a family adventure before the year ends. What about you, Severus?"

Severus's expression softened. "My mum mentioned we'd be visiting Romania. There's some family there she hasn't seen in years."

Lily reached into her bag, pulling out neatly wrapped package. "Here, Severus. These are for you."

Petunia followed suit, handing Severus a carefully wrapped gift as well. "Happy Yule. Don't open them until the holiday," she added with a small smile.

Severus followed producing two small packages of his own. "And these are for you both. Same rules wait until Yule."

The trio laughed, the compartment filling with warmth. After a while, Petunia excused herself to use the restroom,

The corridor was quiet, save for the occasional hiss of steam from the train. As Petunia made her way to the bathroom, a familiar voice called out behind her.

"Fancy meeting you here, Evans."

Petunia groaned inwardly and turned to see Sirius Black leaning casually against the wall, his gray eyes glinting with mischief.

"What do you want, Black? Haven't you done enough pestering for one day?" she said sharply.

Sirius smirked but looked almost hesitant as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, wrapped gift. "Relax, Evans. It's for you. Happy Yule."

Petunia blinked at the package in his hand, her brow furrowing. "What's this for? If this is some kind of prank, I swear…"

"It's not a prank," Sirius said, his tone quieter than usual. "It's just a gift."

Petunia eyed him suspiciously. "Why would you give me a gift?"

Sirius shrugged, looking uncharacteristically shy. "I just want to" Without waiting for a response, he turned and jogged back down the corridor, leaving Petunia standing there, the gift in her hand.

Shaking her head, she made her way back to the compartment. As she entered, Lily and Severus both noticed the package.

"What's that?" Lily asked, raising an eyebrow.

Petunia sighed and sat down. "It's from Sirius Black."

Severus's expression darkened immediately. "Are you sure it's not one of his pranks? It could explode the moment you open it."

Petunia laughed. "I thought the same thing. But he said it's just a gift… for Yule."

Lily's eyes gleamed with mischief. "He gave you a gift? Are you sure he doesn't have a crush on you, Tuney?"

Petunia frowned. "Don't be ridiculous. He's insufferable. He's always causing trouble for me and Severus."

"Then why give you a gift?" Lily teased, leaning closer.

"I don't know, he said he just want to," Petunia said firmly, setting the gift aside. "Let's drop it."

Severus remained quiet, his gaze lingering on the package before he turned his attention back to their conversation.

The journey continued with lighthearted chatter about their favorite moments at Hogwarts and how much they missed home. Before long, the train slowed to a stop at King's Cross Station.

The three gathered their trunks and disembarked. The station was bustling with families, and Petunia quickly spotted her parents. Violet and Henry Evans waved enthusiastically, their smiles wide as their daughters approached.

"There's my girls!" Henry exclaimed, pulling Lily and Petunia into a tight hug. "We missed you so much."

"I missed you too, Dad," Petunia said, smiling up at him. "Oh, and I brought more wizarding candy for you to try. You said you liked the ones I sent, so I got more."

Henry's face lit up. "I can't wait to try them. Thanks, Tuney."

Violet embraced her daughters next, her warmth enveloping them. "Come on, you two. Let's get home. I made your favorite dishes for dinner."

"Thanks, Mum," Lily and Petunia said in unison, hugging her tightly.

As the Evans family left the station, their laughter echoing in the crisp winter air, Petunia felt a deep contentment settle over her.
