Reborn as the God-Emperor in Marvel

Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Gomorrah

Solomon initially thought that Bayonetta's target would be an Accolade angel, a centaur-like figure, or perhaps an Enrapture angel, one of the lower-tier archangels, to feed a demon. However, he hadn't expected a big one to show up this time.

According to The Heavenly Hierarchy, angels are divided into three lower, middle, and upper tiers. The Affinity angels that Bayonetta and Solomon encountered most frequently belong to the lowest tier. Within each tier, there are numerous types of angels, including oddities like the "Dear and Decorations"—a cluster of small angels. The lower-tier angels are followed by the middle-tier archangels and principalities.

The massive Beloved angel was no mere Affinity angel but a mid-tier power angel, a true force of destruction. Its identity was marked by the halo above its head. The enormous golden axe it wielded was as wide as three people standing side by side, and even the thick stone corridor crumbled to pieces under its blows.

Suddenly, a figure smashed through the large round stained-glass window at the front of the church, landing gracefully on the stone pavement. Deep purple magical energy burst forth on the surface of the Beloved angel. Naturally, Bayonetta wasn't going to stay inside the church to fight. She had faced such enemies before, and her experience led her to shatter the glass and jump into the plaza, aiming to find the angel's weak points.

She suspected that her Elfin Knight guns might not be as effective, but her frequent attacks still managed to keep the Beloved angel's attention.

"I must become the foundation for reclaiming the 'Left Eye.'" The angel raised its massive axe, capable of speech due to its higher intelligence. Its voice was emotionless, lacking the usual pauses or intonations. "Show me the darkness that resides within you."

"Come and get it, little doggy," Bayonetta taunted as she dashed forward. The Beloved angel wasted no time with more words, swiftly swinging its axe. The blade descended toward Bayonetta's head, but with a powerful push from her legs, she dodged the attack.

Time seemed to freeze as Bayonetta leaped to the angel's right rear side. She fired several rounds, and only then did the Beloved angel react, wrenching the axe from the ground and swinging it horizontally at Bayonetta while she was still in mid-air. With nothing to step on and no way to change her direction, Bayonetta stretched her body out, facing the rapidly approaching axe.

In a split second, she placed both feet on the flat side of the axe, balancing herself with incredible agility and speed, then used the momentum to leap again. She flipped in the air, head first, and faced the Beloved angel. Everything seemed effortless, though Solomon's heart raced as he watched from the sidelines—it was all too risky. If Bayonetta had misjudged her balance even slightly, she would've been crushed into the ground by the axe.

"The Creator's return is imminent!" The mechanical voice spoke again.

"Sorry," Bayonetta replied lightly, even after her dangerous maneuver. "We're just not on the same wavelength."

The Beloved angel swung its axe with full force, but Bayonetta once again dodged the strike.

"What the hell is happening?" Luka muttered to himself from the side. He had only seen smaller events before, but now the stone-paved plaza was being destroyed as if an invisible hammer the size of a car was pounding it. He could even feel the tremors under his feet. "Either I've lost my mind, or the world has."

"The world's been crazy for a long time, Mr. Luka. If you still want to face it after seeing this, I won't stop you." Solomon raised his hand to block a flying stone. "After all, you're going to die soon. I won't even need to wipe your memory."

"You think I'm going to die?"

"Do you think you can survive after seeing all this?"

Each time the Beloved angel attacked, Bayonetta dodged gracefully, and in between, she fired a few rounds from her Elfin Knight guns at the angel's face—if you could call it that. The angel's strikes grew more frenzied and faster, but Bayonetta always found a way to use the axe to her advantage, getting closer to the angel and landing solid hits.

By the time the Beloved angel realized something was wrong, Bayonetta was already standing on its back. Beneath her foot was a large pink orb, half-embedded in the angel's body. Compared to the thick shell of the Beloved angel, this spot was much more vulnerable.

Bayonetta stomped down hard with the heel of her shoe, shattering the pink orb. A fountain of blood erupted from it. The angel's white surface began to crack, just like the marble floor it had shattered earlier, revealing the red flesh beneath. All attacks ceased, and the giant axe clattered to the ground. The intense pain in its back forced the Beloved angel to straighten up, letting out a wail too faint for most to hear.

The witch ran along the angel's spine and head, leaping onto the handle of its massive axe.

"My partner from Hell told me he's so hungry he can't wait anymore. Oops, I meant the Abyss, thanks to you, Boya, for teaching me that word." Bayonetta glanced at the angel writhing in pain. "A prey like you should keep him satisfied for a while."

"AVAVAGO!" Bayonetta shouted as immense magical energy surged from her. She raised both hands behind her head, and the black leather outfit formed from her magic disintegrated, leaving her in full view. Her long black hair extended like tendrils, growing longer and longer, gathering into a single stream that plunged into the ground, into a dark purple and black magic circle.

A matching magic circle appeared on the broken ground behind the Beloved angel, and Bayonetta's hair rose from it.

A creature resembling a dragon emerged from her hair. It had four glowing red eyes in its sockets, radiating savage energy. Two huge, hooked horns grew from its head, and twisted spikes jutted out from the sides of its long jaws. Embedded in its forehead was half of a blue human face, bald and surrounded by sharp, crown-like teeth.

Before the demon could even roar, Bayonetta's hair coiled around it tightly, leaving only its horns, eyes, and gaping, toothy maw visible.

This demon was Gomorrah, named after the infamous city. In the Book of Genesis, the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed as a punishment.

"The Lord rained down burning sulfur from the heavens on Sodom and Gomorrah, overthrowing those cities and everyone in them, along with everything growing on the land," Solomon said, watching the demon. He could summon such demons himself, as they resided in the so-called "Demon Forest" of the John Forest. However, he preferred not to, unless absolutely necessary.

It wasn't just because he disliked inviting powerful extra-dimensional creatures to Earth, but also because he couldn't gauge how much magical energy it would take to summon them—something Vishanti certainly wouldn't help him with.

"What are you talking about?" Luka asked, completely confused.

"The demon you can't see," Solomon pointed toward it.

"It's feeding time, darling," Bayonetta whispered. Gomorrah's enormous jaws snapped down on the angel, tearing its upper body apart. "Oh, and I forgot to mention," Bayonetta's voice echoed again, though only Solomon could hear her. "There's another reason I'm hunting you—watching your pained expressions gives me pleasure."

Huh? There's something seriously off with this woman!
