Reborn as the Novel’s Villain: Cultivation Lost, Female Leads Take Control

Chapter 80 - Sovereign’s Judgment, Betrayal by Elder Li

High above the void, Venerable Xuanqi gazed down at Xiao Ye aboard the spirit vessel, his eyes colder than frost, piercing through him as though looking at a corpse.

“Return the Magnetic Earth Heart to me!”

Venerable Xuanqi’s voice was detached, each word like an icy blade.

“Senior… Senior, what Magnetic Earth Heart? I’ve never heard of it!”

Xiao Ye’s face twisted in confusion. He stammered, utterly bewildered. The Magnetic Earth Heart? He didn’t even know what it was!

“Still pretending, are we? Fine. Let me show you the truth before you die!”

Venerable Xuanqi waved his hand, and a mystical seal materialized mid-air. Under the weight of its invisible force, a storage ring flew out of Xiao Ye’s robes, landing in Venerable Xuanqi’s palm for all to see.

“This ring belonged to my disciple, Wang Teng. The evidence is irrefutable. What do you have to say now?”

His spiritual sense swept through the storage ring. Though the Magnetic Earth Heart was absent, the confirmation of ownership was enough. His killing intent surged like an unrelenting tide.

The Qingming Sect elders and disciples looked on, relieved they hadn’t intervened. Venerable Xuanqi was no ordinary man—he was a Sovereign, the leader of the Eastern Wasteland’s Mystic Heaven Sect. They had no reason to defend a thief and risk offending such a powerful figure.

“Senior, this is a misunderstanding! I only picked up the ring by chance—it’s not what you think!”

Faced with the Sovereign’s immense killing intent, Xiao Ye stammered in desperation. His legs trembled, but he forced himself to stand straight, unwilling to kneel.

“A chance discovery? And yet, it’s you who just so happened to find it?”

Venerable Xuanqi sneered, his disdain evident.

The surrounding Qingming Sect disciples murmured among themselves.

“Yeah, why didn’t I find that ring?”

“Lame excuse. He could’ve thought of something better.”

“What a disgrace.”

“Does he think he’s some heavenly favored son?”

Even Xiao Ye’s fellow disciples turned on him, ridiculing him mercilessly.

Xiao Ye felt as though he had swallowed a mouthful of bile.

“Senior! You don’t understand! I am the chosen one! Fate itself delivers treasures into my hands!” Xiao Ye shouted, desperation creeping into his voice.

Venerable Xuanqi burst into laughter, cold and mocking.

“You? The chosen one?”

“My disciple Wang Teng had the potential to become an immortal emperor!”

The Sovereign’s mirth faded abruptly, replaced by a frigid glare that pinned Xiao Ye in place like a bug under a magnifying glass.

“I don’t know what tricks you used to kill my disciple, but today, you will die to appease his spirit!”

Venerable Xuanqi turned to the Qingming Sect elders, offering them a shallow bow.

“This boy bears a mortal grudge against me. I ask you not to interfere.”

“Please proceed, Sovereign.”

One elder spoke up, his tone respectful yet indifferent.

The Qingming Sect elders had no intention of protecting Xiao Ye. If the accusations had only been theft, they might’ve stepped in, but this was different. Xiao Ye wasn’t just a thief—he was accused of murdering the Mystic Heaven Sect’s heir. To shield him now would risk igniting war between the two sects.

Even the Heavenly Thunder Peak elder, who had been instructed by Master Wanjun to protect Xiao Ye, remained silent, his face impassive.

Abandoned by the Qingming Sect, Xiao Ye’s heart sank.

He looked up at Venerable Xuanqi, whose killing intent was so tangible it felt like a thousand swords stabbing into his body.

“It wasn’t me! I don’t even know what Wang Teng looks like!”

Xiao Ye’s knees buckled. Cold sweat dripped down his pale face as he tried to explain.

“Elder Li! Do something! Save me!”

Xiao Ye screamed into his jade pendant.

“If you don’t help me, you’ll die too! You hear me? You’ll die first!”

Within the jade pendant, Elder Li’s anger boiled over.

‘This brat dares threaten me? After everything I’ve done for him?’

Elder Li had gone above and beyond for Xiao Ye—guiding him, protecting him, even risking his own soul’s stability. But Xiao Ye’s constant ingratitude, arrogance, and betrayals had pushed him to his limit.

“Enough is enough,” Elder Li growled.

A faint, translucent figure emerged from the jade pendant, his aged visage burning with rage. He cupped his hands toward Venerable Xuanqi.

“Sovereign, my name is Li Huo. I was once a Void Shattering Sovereign but have since fallen to this state. That, however, is unimportant.”

He turned toward Xiao Ye, pointing a trembling finger at him, his voice quaking with fury.

“What matters is that I bear witness—this vile beast is indeed the one who killed your disciple Wang Teng!”

“Elder Li! What are you saying?”

Xiao Ye’s eyes bulged in disbelief.

“What am I saying?”

Li Huo snarled, his voice a thunderclap of indignation.

“You ungrateful wretch! I’ve saved your life countless times, guided you to treasures, and protected you from your enemies. And how do you repay me? With betrayal, arrogance, and threats!”

“You abandoned your master, betrayed your sect, stole from your peers, and murdered indiscriminately. You’re a scourge on this world—a scourge that must be eradicated!”

Each word was like a hammer blow, exposing Xiao Ye’s sins to all present.

“Elder Li! You’ll regret this!” Xiao Ye screamed, his voice shrill.

“Regret? The only regret I have is ever wasting my efforts on you!”

Li Huo’s ethereal form trembled with wrath.

“Sovereign, this boy deserves to die a thousand times over. I’ll leave him to you.”

He turned his back on Xiao Ye, no longer acknowledging him as a disciple.

The crowd watched in stunned silence.

Even Xiao Ye’s enemies couldn’t have predicted such a dramatic betrayal from the jade pendant’s spirit.

Xiao Ye’s face twisted in despair, his confidence utterly shattered.

“Sovereign, please spare me!” he begged, his voice cracking.

But Venerable Xuanqi’s cold eyes offered no mercy.

“Die.”

He raised his hand, gathering power that made the heavens quake.

As the deadly force descended, Xiao Ye’s screams echoed through the void, but no one moved to help him.
