Chapter 135: Renewal Academy of Elysia
"Welcome back, everyone. I hope you all enjoyed your spring break with your friends and family."
As Miss Amy stood in front of the board, everyone in the class was still a little bit sleepy.
"Since we missed an entire week. I'm just going to jump straight to the lesson plan...
Please check your desk. You should notice your second textbook inside, which we will be using for this spring quarter."
Looking inside his desk, Alex immediately noticed the new textbook inside.
"This textbook will cover the more advanced topics along with new topics that we haven't fully delved into. If you lose it, please let me know so I can order a new one.
Now, please flip to page 21. I'll be discussing the surface areas using Pythor's theorem in combination with..."
A few hours later...
"I hope everyone has noted the equation because I'm not repeating it... Oh look, it's almost lunchtime already."
The entire class looked toward her in excitement, waiting for her to release them early.
"It is a pretty good place to wrap it up... But actually, today's lunch is canceled."
"What?"
"That can't be right."
"Why!"
"Not fair!"
As the class burst into chatter, a sudden wave of mana traveled through the entire classroom, forcing everyone's mouths to shut.
"Did you guys forget today is the Physical Examination day? I ain't letting my class time be cut by something like that.
Anyway, everyone, please get up from your seat and get in a single file line."
All of the students grumpily get up from their seats, heading to the side to form a line.
After the line was formed, Miss Amy and Luqing led the class out into the hallway before heading to the 1st floor.
Next, they headed straight to the arena, passing all the people inside as they continued to walk deeper inside.
When they finally stopped, they were at the end of the arena, where a door blocked their further advancement.
"Everyone, please remain quiet. If you fool around here, not even I can save you from being kicked out of the school."
The entire class didn't say a single word, all of them keeping their mouth shut again.
As she scanned her card at the keypad, the door finally opened, revealing a blue portal before them.
"Luqing, can you go inside first and make sure they don't go anywhere else?" Miss Amy asked.
Luqing nodded as she walked straight into the portal before Miss Amy began hurrying the students to go in one by one.
The moment Alex entered inside, he was instantly teleported into a completely different place.
His surroundings were no longer long rows of painted walls and windows. Instead, it was a bunch of trees and flowers.
"Everyone, please keep walking, don't stare at your surroundings too much."
As Miss Amy's voice caused him to snap back to reality, his classmates were all still a little stunned by the scenery.
Down the paved stone road, they could see a giant lake in the distance, with what seemed to be a village next to it.
Walking closer and closer, all of the students could finally see the tag at the very top.
It wasn't just a village. Rather, it was an entire academy completely different from their school.
"Renewal Academy of Elysia..."
Alex murmured as Miss Amy led past the entrance before stopping near one of the buildings.
As Miss Amy knocked on the door, the students were all still a little stunned by how natural everything looked.
The entire place felt like nature had built everything, with not a single trace of manmade objects besides the sign at the entrance.
Even the buildings felt like part of the environment, with wooden pillars on the floor that almost resembled tree roots.
A woman in a white robe, seemingly in her forties, emerged from the wooden building.
"Welcome. You guys have been from... Mystic Academy of Seraphel? Did I get the name right?"
"Yes. Our school principal has an appointment for the student's physical examination."
"Ah, right. Please follow me. I'll bring you guys to The Hall of Vitalis for that."
As the woman walked out of the building and moved to the front of the line, Miss Amy quickly made the class follow her.
After walking for a few minutes, they walked past several split-ends before stopping at what seemed to be a church.
"The priest is inside. Please be patient if she's doing her ritual."
The woman began heading back, leaving Miss Amy a little annoyed as she walked over to the church's front door.
"They really brought us here out of all places... Whatever."
With a gentle knock, the entire class waited alongside Miss Amy.
The church still showed no sign of opening, causing the students to start to get a little bored as they started chatting.
Just as Miss Amy was about to send everyone back into silence, the church door finally opened.
"Sorry for the wait. You may all enter inside."
"No problem."
As the students followed Miss Amy and the woman wearing a mask, they were all intrigued by the church's emptiness.
There were no seats or even windows besides two statues of a masked woman on the left and right sides of the wall.
Right in the middle was an altar, which they walked straight past as they arrived at two white curtains separated by a wall.
"Men on the left and woman on the right. Inside will be a doctor that will perform the physical examination."
The answer made Alex's heart jump out the roof as the worst-case scenario had happened.
Everyone in the class immediately started walking to their side, with Alex ending up at last as he silently walked over to the men's side.
All he could do now was pray that gender doesn't play that much of a role in the physical examination.
The masked woman signaled the first six students to walk straight through the curtain as everyone else waited.
After about ten minutes, all six of the students walked out, with their face seemingly to have witnessed their worst nightmare.
More importantly, they all constantly checked different parts of their bodies as if they had heard something was wrong with them.
With the line becoming shorter and shorter, his mind was only becoming more and more nervous.
"Relax, Alex, you can do this. Just calm down and remember what Auntie Amelia had taught you."
As he began murmuring the spell that could hide his body part, the person in front of him had finally entered inside.
Every tick, he waited. His mind prepared for the fallout if the news got out for the entire class.
"Why am I so nervous? It's not like the doctor is going to walk around and tell everyone about this."
After realizing his situation, a sense of calmness suddenly replaced all of his fear and panic from earlier.
"Next, please!"
Alex finally took his first step forward, walking past the last few students who had entered inside.
As he took another step and walked past the curtain, he was a little shocked by who was next to the bedside.
It was a young woman who looked awfully familiar. But he couldn't put a name to it.
"Please lie down on the bed... Huh?"
Just as the young woman turned over to Alex, her face was surprised as she seemed to have instantly reconganized him.
"Alex?"
"Do I know you miss?"
"You already forgot me? I'm Katherine's friend."
Alex immediately started digging inside his memories until he finally found a name that matched up with the look.
"You're Emily?"
"Ahem, Doctor Emily. Tell Katherine I said hi when you get back home..."
Alex nodded as he climbed up the small stairs to the bed before lying down flat.
"Doctor Emily, can I ask what the physical examination is supposed to be?"
Alex nervously asked after seeing the piles of what seemed to be once-used elastic gloves in the nearby trash bin.
"Just making sure your body is healthy. Now, can you put on this blindfold and cover your eyes?"
"Doctor Emily... I have a little request before I put this on."
"What is it?" Emily asked as she put on her glove.
"Can I skip this test? My mom already said I'm in top health shape. I really don't need——"
"Nope. You can't skip it. This is also technically a part of your school's entrance examination.
But it just so happened that your class had delayed it until now... Do you mind putting your blindfold on?"
Alex finally accepted his fate as he reattached his blindfold, throwing everything to fate at this point.
"Don't be nervous. This physical examination isn't going to hurt you or anything."
Emily's words didn't reassure him a single bit as he could hear her moving closer and closer.
"Just relax... You can trust in my magic. You're going to feel much better than now."
Before Alex could say anything, he suddenly lost control of his entire body, unable to move a single muscle.
