Chapter 39: Chapter39-300 Awakeners in the Shadow

Under Kidd's horrified gaze, Velen continued his assault!

The ice dragon above his head was suddenly infused with an immense and overwhelming torrent of mana, and waves of Frostbreath poured out of its mouth one after another.

The air temperature plummeted instantly, and a biting cold wind filled the surroundings.

The remaining eight Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeasts finally reacted, each unleashing their own skills to counter the freezing breath!

Boom! Boom!

A series of collisions erupted, chaotic mana waves rippling outward and causing the barren land to tremble slightly.

Kidd's face was filled with shock and disbelief.

One against eight!

And these were eight top-tier spellbeasts of the same level!

Velen's confidence was simply beyond comprehension!

However, in the next moment, as gusts of icy wind spread out, all eight Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeasts were forced back. Parts of their bodies were frozen solid in varying degrees.

"How can Velen's combat strength be this terrifying?"

Kidd swallowed hard.

Previously, Velen had relied on the Imprison Scroll to kill spellbeasts, making it hard to gauge his true strength.

But now that Velen was truly fighting, Kidd finally understood just how monstrous Velen's power was!

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Another series of Frostbreath attacks spewed from the ice dragon's mouth, accompanied by even colder winds and a piercing howl.

Kidd was utterly dumbfounded.

It was common knowledge that the effectiveness of a skill wasn't solely determined by its level—higher-level skills consumed far more mana.

Frostbreath was an advanced D-level skill. For an ordinary Apprentice Rank level 9 awakener, using it once would almost completely drain their mana reserves, making it a trump card reserved for desperate situations.

But Velen had not only cast it almost instantly but had also unleashed over twenty consecutive Frostbreath attacks without showing any signs of fatigue!

Just how vast was the mana within Velen's body?

At this point, Kidd couldn't even begin to fathom how terrifying Velen's combat abilities truly were. It was far beyond anything he had ever witnessed from other geniuses!

Meanwhile, awakeners from various galaxies stared in shock at Velen's display of power.

It was one thing for Velen to kill an Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeast in one strike, but for him to wound eight such spellbeasts simultaneously and then follow up with a move that wiped them all out—what kind of monstrous strength was that?

If that Frostbreath had been aimed at them, they would undoubtedly have been frozen into statues, with no chance to resist!

After recovering from his initial shock, Kidd quickly adjusted his mindset, realizing the vast disparity between himself and Velen. He then rushed toward the remaining spellbeasts.

Although Kidd charged forward, he suddenly concealed himself as he neared his targets, moving like a shadow in the night. Each time he reappeared, several spellbeasts would fall to his blade.

"He has such a strong aura of Judgement. Why is he, as a swordman, not using a sword to kill but instead employing assassin-like stealth skills?"

Many onlookers were puzzled.

"Perhaps these spellbeasts are too weak to warrant his full strength."

"I think so too. What an arrogant swordman!"

The murmurs of the crowd reached Kidd's ears, and his expression became increasingly complicated.

Stealth assassin skills were his true specialty!

Not long after, Kidd turned his frustration into motivation, swiftly eliminating the remaining spellbeasts.

Time flew by, and two days passed in the blink of an eye.

Under Velen and Kidd's relentless hunt, they soon completed their mission of killing one hundred Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeasts.

Velen had no interest in the spoils, such as the spellbeasts' pelts or mana stones, leaving them all behind.

Kidd, influenced by Velen's gift of the SSS Tomes of Skill Experience and Sword of Judgement, had also grown indifferent to such ordinary items.

"Congratulations, host, for killing one hundred Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeasts and completing the system task!"

"Reward: 5000 luxury points!"

Velen was very satisfied. Adding this to his previous 5000-plus luxury points, he now had over 10,000 luxury points in total!

He then turned to Kidd and asked the system,

"Kidd has served me well as a follower over the past couple of days. Giving him 200,000 advanced mana stones seems reasonable, doesn't it?"

Kidd's performance over the past two days had been impeccable, and Velen planned to reward him generously while also using the act to gain some luxury points.

"Relationship too shallow. Amount of advanced mana stones excessive."

The system's response didn't surprise Velen—offering 200,000 advanced mana stones had merely been a test.

"Then how about 100,000 advanced mana stones? That's not too much, is it?"

This time, the system did not respond, which clearly meant it was permissible.

It seemed that the amount of mana stones Velen could distribute depended heavily on the recipient's level and status.

"Big brother Velen, I've been in the Singularity Battlefield for far too long. I need to head back soon!"

At the mention of parting, Kidd's mood soured.

If he didn't have a faction backing him, he could have stayed here indefinitely. However, he had been here for so long that if he didn't return soon, his faction would likely assume he had perished in the Singularity Battlefield.

Velen roughly understood his situation, as the duke had briefly mentioned it during their journey here. Spending too much time in the Singularity Battlefield without sending any messages could cause others to worry about potential accidents.

"We'll probably meet again in the future. Here's 100,000 advanced mana stones as a farewell gift."

Velen handed Kidd a storage pouch and then waved him off before leaving on his own.

"Big brother Velen, we'll definitely meet again—definitely!"

Kidd clutched the storage pouch tightly, activated his thoughts, and vanished from the scene.

As Kidd disappeared, Velen heard the system notification in his ears.

"Congratulations, host, for successfully flaunting wealth. Reward: 200 luxury points. Sword of Judgement (Broken)—9999 fragments."

Hearing the system's voice, Velen was momentarily stunned. Again?

After some thought, Velen decided to use the fragments himself. System rewards couldn't be exchanged for luxury points, after all.

Immediately, fragments of the Sword of Judgement skill began to merge into Velen's body.

At the same time, hundreds of awakeners gathered nearby.

"That guy with the strong aura of Judgement has left. He must have plenty of valuable treasures on him!"

"He was so arrogant earlier. He's bound to have a lot of good stuff on him. If we all attack together, we'll split the spoils based on luck. What do you think?"

"Good idea. Over the past two days, he's killed so many spellbeasts. His stamina must be greatly depleted!"

The awakeners here were all geniuses who had sensed Velen's overwhelming power.

They were intensely curious about him, convinced he carried countless secrets and treasures. Thus, they had been tailing him all along.

Now that the powerful individual by Velen's side was gone, they believed this was their best chance to take him down!

After all, there were 300 awakeners gathered here, with nearly 200 of them at Apprentice Rank level 9!

Together, they were an unstoppable force in the Second Zone!

"Attack together! We've got the advantage with our numbers!"

Amid the roars of several individuals, the group began to close in on Velen.

At that moment, Velen had absorbed even more fragments of the Sword of Judgement.

"So this is the Sword of Judgement? As expected of a system reward—it's incredible!"

After fully absorbing the fragments, Velen suddenly opened his eyes, which now glinted with a cold and ruthless light.

He resembled a deity of judgment, gazing down upon the mortals below!

"Have they set their sights on me?"

As Velen finished absorbing the fragments, he immediately sensed the approaching geniuses converging from all directions, as dense as an impenetrable tide, leaving him no escape route.

The chilling auras emanating from them locked onto him from afar.

"Perfect timing. Let's see how powerful the Sword of Judgement truly is!"

Velen's expression turned icy as he raised his right hand. A longsword formed purely of radiant light materialized in his grip.

The blade's brilliance was dazzling, and the moment it appeared, Velen's aura of judgment spread rapidly, enveloping everyone in the vicinity!

In an instant, all the awakeners who felt the overwhelming aura had their scalps tingle.

A sense of impending death surged within them, growing stronger the closer they got to Velen. Their mana was being suppressed with relentless force.

Under the suppression of the aura of Judgement, they were like mortals gazing upon a god. Some of the weaker awakeners even broke down emotionally under the immense pressure.

The weight was simply unbearable.

Aura of Judgement!

The 300-plus awakeners, now suppressed, stared at Velen in shock.

They hadn't expected that this icy figure, who had earlier unleashed the terrifying ice dragon, also wielded such a horrifying aura of Judgement.

Those who had charged ahead and reached Velen first were now utterly horrified.

Velen's strength was already evident when he casually wiped out the Apprentice Rank level 9 spellbeasts earlier.

Now, with the addition of this devastating aura of Judgement, they felt no hope of victory.

In fact, many had a strong intuition that Velen's displayed abilities were far from his full strength—he likely had even more terrifying cards to play.

This kind of monstrous talent was not someone they could afford to provoke!

In an instant, the awakeners whose courage had crumbled began to regret their decisions and sought to flee.

"You've chosen to attack me, so none of you will leave here alive!"

Velen's gaze remained cold as he spoke.

Above his head, the ice dragon let out a furious roar, unleashing another torrent of Frostbreath that froze the approaching awakeners into statues of ice.

As the dozens of awakeners at the forefront turned into ice sculptures, the remaining individuals, still under the suppression of the aura of Judgement, finally snapped out of their shock, their faces filled with terror.

"All attack together! As strong as he is, we might still stand a chance if we work as one!"

"This guy is too brutal! If we don't unite, we're all going to die here!"

The surviving awakeners were all on edge, their emotions running high.

They gathered their mana, resisting the aura of Judgement as best they could, and unleashed their most powerful skills against Velen.

However, as the torrents of mana attacks approached within ten meters of Velen—

Dense, intricate mana patterns appeared around him, resembling miniature black holes, endlessly devouring the surrounding mana.

Moments later, a surging torrent of mana erupted within his body, and pure white sword beams shot out, obliterating all incoming attacks.

Even after neutralizing the enemy's attacks, the sword beams didn't lose their momentum, surging toward the crowd!

Ahhh!

Screams of agony rang out ceaselessly.

Any awakener struck by the sword beams was instantly sliced into fragments, their bodies disintegrating on the spot.

Feeling the surging mana within him, Velen let out a furious roar, activating all his skills at once!

Thunder Descent!

Angel Slash!

Meteor Fist!

One terrifying attack after another erupted, turning the area into a chaotic storm of mana!

"Another D-level advanced skill!"

"What other cards does this guy have up his sleeve?!"

"Four different elemental mana attacks! What kind of monstrous mana core is this guy working with?!"

As they watched Velen, like a human cannon spewing out skill after skill, the surviving awakeners were utterly stupefied, their hearts filled with despair.

The Velen before them wasn't human. These terrifying skills, combined with the endless mana surges, marked him as a true monster!

None of the geniuses they had encountered before could even compare.

What fools they were to challenge such a terrifying creature!

Boom! Boom!

Amid the deafening explosions, the battlefield was left littered with corpses.

Velen swept his gaze across the mangled remains strewn across the barren land, his expression indifferent.

Survival of the fittest, the law of the jungle.

This was the unchanging iron rule.

Enemies must be eradicated.

Power was the ultimate truth!

As Velen prepared to leave, a tall woman in a pure white gown suddenly appeared. A single strand of hair stuck up from her head, giving her an air of innocence and naivety. Looking timid, she asked softly,

"Angel Slash… Are you from the Angel Temple?"

Velen hadn't expected someone else to recognize his skill. He turned to look at her and, sensing no hostility, replied coldly,

"I am. Who are you?"

The woman had a stunning appearance, yet there was an inexplicable air of cluelessness about her.

Upon hearing that Velen was from the Angel Temple, the woman's lips curved into a faint smile.

"My name is Belle. I'm from Celestia Academy!"

"Celestia Academy?" Velen muttered, then shook his head. "Is that supposed to be famous? Never heard of it."

Belle's smile froze, and she tilted her head in confusion, sizing up Velen.

"You're from the Angel Temple. How can you not know Celestia Academy?"

Velen retorted, "Why should I know it?"

Belle was momentarily stunned before asking again, "Are you sure you're from the Angel Temple?"

"What's your name? I'm starting to feel like you're not really from the temple."

Velen ignored her and turned to leave.

Watching his departing figure, Belle's expression grew complicated.

Four elemental mana types.

Intricate and dense mana patterns.

Three D-level advanced skills.

And an unfathomable aura of Judgement.

This young man was terrifying.

If allowed to grow, he would undoubtedly become a legendary figure on the battleboards, perhaps even ranking in the top ten!

Maybe even the top five wasn't out of reach!

How could such a heaven-defying genius be allowed to slip through her fingers?

Belle smiled and began to chase after Velen.

"What's your name? I already told you mine. Isn't it rude not to tell me yours?"

"If my earlier questions offended you, I apologize."

"With your talent, the Singularity Battlefield probably doesn't offer much benefit to you anymore. If there's anything you need, just let me know. Maybe I can help!"

Walking up beside Velen, Belle spoke softly.

Velen turned his head to look at her, his voice cold. "If you don't leave now, don't blame me for being rude!"

"You can't kill me, you know," Belle replied confidently, a faint smile on her face.

"My level isn't Hero Rank level 9. It's sealed by an artifact. If you attack me and I break the seal, I could kill you and still be forcibly teleported out afterward."
