Chapter 5: E4-Tobirama Senju-(Memories II)

The Kinkaku Force (金角部隊, Kinkaku Butai) was a special team of at least twenty highly skilled ninjas from Kumogakure during the First Great Shinobi World War. The only known members of the group during this period were the infamous Gold and Silver Brothers, known as the most feared criminals in Kumogakure's history. They, along with the rest of the force, tracked down Team Tobirama, including Danzō Shimura, Torifu Akimichi, and Kagami Uchiha, trapping them on the battlefield.

Ultimately, the Second Hokage sacrificed himself to allow his subordinates to escape.

The night covered the clearing like a cold, grim shroud. The rain fell relentlessly, pooling in dark puddles among the craters and debris of what was once a vibrant forest. Scorched branches and dark bloodstains soiled the muddy ground, while a dense mist drifted slowly over the field, almost as if it sought to hide the scars of battle. Around them, shattered trees stood like wooden corpses, silently observing as the war claimed yet another life.

The devastated landscape, filled with craters and blood-stained patches, was evidence of a large-scale battle in this Shinobi World.

At this moment, Kinkaku and Ginkaku were injured but otherwise in relatively perfect condition, with their chakra almost intact. Most of their force lay dead, some missing limbs.

Kinkaku and Ginkaku, the infamous Gold and Silver Brothers, watched with triumphant smiles on their faces, like hunters reveling in their weakened prey.

"This battle took more than expected, don't you think, brother?"

Kinkaku was smiling after his latest battle; his force of over 500 men had been decimated, reduced to only 13, including his brother, but of those 13 who could still fight, only 5 were in fighting condition.

All were of Jōnin rank or higher.

The Second Hokage's mastery of Water Style was incredible.

Now the acclaimed God of Water Style lay injured and at the mercy of the forces from the Village Hidden in the Clouds.

The glorious appearance of the Second Hokage was now haggard and bloodied, with multiple kunai embedded in his arms and legs.

His signature battle armor was completely torn, leaving only the metal plates on his shoulders.

In the center of the clearing, the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, breathed heavily, covered in wounds, holding his blood-stained kunai, his white hair soaked in blood and sweat obscuring his face. Before him, Kumogakure's ninjas surrounded his position.

With a bloodthirsty grin, Tobirama had risen once more, and despite his exhausted state, both mentally and physically, he still had the guts to fight, even though he knew his fate was sealed.

Ginkaku merely frowned in Tobirama's direction but, deep down, felt a hint of intrigue at this man's determination.

Tobirama assumed a fighting stance, gripping his kunai in reverse, one foot slightly forward, and lunged at the first shinobi he saw.

His chakra reserves were nearly depleted, leaving him with only a few jutsu left, but it wasn't nearly enough to fight against these monsters. Therefore, he forced himself to use taijutsu, though he wasn't particularly known for it; that didn't mean he wasn't skilled. Contrary to popular belief, his countless war experiences from a young age had molded him into who he was, facing Uchiha at times without weapons and relying solely on his physical abilities.

However, now he was far too weakened.

Tobirama wasn't stupid; he could have fought the Cloud shinobi, giving his students enough time to retreat, and then used the Hiraishin to escape.

But this battle proved more difficult than he might have anticipated.

However, having spent his chakra, he would likely die here.

The shinobi he attacked dodged expertly, stepping aside, leaving Tobirama to slash in that direction with one of his kunai.

Kinkaku nodded toward one of his team's ninjas, who then sprang into action, drawing a long sword and unleashing a flash of lightning chakra. Tobirama dodged the first strike by mere inches, feeling the blade skim past his face, and countered with a quick slash, forcing his opponent to back off.

A second ninja, agile and serpent-like in movement, appeared to his left. Tobirama spun on his heel and blocked the attack, but before he could strike, a third attacker joined the fray, launching a barrage of shuriken wrapped in lightning chakra. Tobirama barely had time to raise his kunai to deflect the metal stars, which sparked and crackled upon impact with his weapons.

The situation was worsening. The Kumogakure ninjas exploited every opportunity to wear him down.

Tobirama sensed movement behind him; a Cloud ninja was attempting to strike from his blind spot. He quickly turned, hurling one of his kunai toward the attacker's neck. The blade sliced through the air, but the ninja vanished in a flash of light, leaving a residual figure of electricity in his place. Another ninja, concealed in the shadows of a fallen tree, launched a wave of chakra toward him. Tobirama took the hit to his chest, being thrown several meters back until he struck what he thought was a tree trunk, only to realize it was a substitution.

The shinobi's eyes widened with surprise as he felt his neck jerk sharply, the light in his eyes fading as he wondered what had gone wrong.

Tobirama stood firm, breathing heavily but not yielding an inch.

His gaze fixed on the Gold and Silver brothers, Kinkaku and Ginkaku, who looked back at him with a mixture of arrogance and sadistic pleasure.

"So, the rumors about the Second Hokage weren't lies, huh?" Ginkaku sneered, his eyes gleaming with that characteristic cruelty. His tone was twisted, relishing each word with macabre delight.

"You're pretty hard to kill, but you've already given everything you've got. When we're done with you, there will be a whole market fighting over your corpse."

Kinkaku laughed, his eyes glinting with feverish excitement.

"Imagine the price! Your remains will be a prized bounty. The medics from the Sand Village, the Tsuchikage from Iwagakure... every shinobi will want your secrets!"

Tobirama's face remained impassive, but a spark of fury flashed in his gaze.

"If we sell every piece of you, we could fund our own forces."

"Or better yet, we could fuel rumors about Kumogakure's abilities and how weak Konoha was," Kinkaku added coldly.

"Let them all search your remains for the secrets of the Leaf…" Ginkaku laughed, drawing the Shichiseiken, the legendary sword rumored to be one of the treasures of the Sage of the Six Paths.

Both brothers lunged into the attack. Despite the pain in his limbs and blood loss, Tobirama activated one last Water Style technique. Quick seals, perfect seals, for a technique he'd been working on in recent months, though it wasn't that powerful.

Suddenly, the rainwater and muddy ground rose, forming liquid serpents that coiled around the brothers, snaking toward their bodies. However, they dodged with skill. Kinkaku charged with brute strength, dodging the water serpents and throwing a devastating punch that Tobirama barely managed to deflect. Ginkaku took advantage of the distraction and swung the Shichiseiken, which the Hokage blocked with a kunai in a desperate maneuver.

The pressure of their attacks was relentless. Tobirama slid back, panting, and with an evasive maneuver, appeared behind Kinkaku in a blink, trying to take advantage of the element of surprise.

He managed to strike Kinkaku in the back, throwing him off balance and immediately launched a barrage of shuriken coated in water chakra toward Ginkaku. But Ginkaku deflected them with a sweep of his sword and charged at Tobirama with renewed force.

"BASTARD!"

Kinkaku shouted, wiping away the blood dripping from a superficial cut on his arm, his expression becoming wilder.

Tobirama tried to create some distance, but Ginkaku caught up with him in a flash, swinging the sword in an arc that Tobirama couldn't fully evade. The Shichiseiken grazed his shoulder, tearing his armor and deepening his wounds, forcing a groan of pain from him. He stumbled back, but Ginkaku didn't relent; he kept attacking, each blow overwhelming, each slash weakening him further.

Finally, Tobirama dropped to his knees, gasping. His strength was depleted, and his exhausted body barely responded. Kinkaku seized the moment, grabbing him by the neck and slamming him into the ground with tremendous force, creating a crater in the muddy earth. Tobirama felt his energy-draining, his vision starting to fade as a cold chill overcame his body.

"You're nothing but history now, Hokage," Ginkaku said, as he and his brother laughed in satisfaction.

Unable to move, Tobirama closed his eyes, accepting his fate as a final thought crossed his mind.

'Saru... I leave everything in your hands…'

And so, Tobirama Senju, the Second Hokage, was taken as a trophy by the Gold and Silver brothers, who sealed his body into a scroll, ready to sell the remains of Konoha's leader to the highest bidder.

Tobirama Senju fell in battle, remembered as a hero in the times to come.

The smiles of Kinkaku and Ginkaku didn't fade as they grabbed the body and secured it in a scroll…

Tobirama's body lay motionless on the ground; his warrior spirit had been extinguished, but his sacrifice would echo in the hearts of his village forever. Over him, the Gold and Silver brothers, Kinkaku and Ginkaku, wore smiles of satisfaction as they wrapped the Hokage's body in a special scroll, like a mere war trophy.

"Hehe, well, at least he put up a fight, the damn fool…"

Ginkaku commented with a mix of respect and disdain, his eyes gleaming with greed.

"That doesn't matter anymore, brother," Kinkaku sneered as he secured the scroll containing the body.

As they both smiled gleefully at their catch, a chill crept over them, an eerie sensation that something was wrong.

Suddenly, an overwhelming pressure filled the clearing. Everyone present, including the Gold and Silver brothers and the few remaining shinobi, dropped to their knees, subdued by an invisible force. A relaxed, confident-looking man was seated on the branch of a nearby tree, watching them as if they were mere pieces on his board. He wore a rakusu with golden and green squares over a blue yukata and black pants, with white tabi and brown platform sandals. His light skin had a slightly tanned tone, and a scar on his forehead was his most distinctive feature. His dark, calculating eyes focused on the brothers with a playful smile.

"Allow me to ask you a question…"

The man said in a calm, almost friendly voice, his gaze fixed on the brothers.

"Would you give me the body you just obtained?"

The tone was gentle, but the chill in his words ran down their spines like a cold shiver. Both brothers felt a cold sweat on their foreheads; they had no idea who this man was or where he'd come from, but his presence was terrifying.

Without waiting for an answer, the man continued silently, assessing the situation. 'I suppose they won't hand over the body without a fight,' thought Kenjaku, quickly calculating his options.

'I could use Uzumaki, but that would render it unusable for a month.'

With the help of Senju cells and the power of the First Hokage coursing through his body, his techniques were hardly exhausting. He could easily wipe out the remaining ninjas.

Kinkaku and Ginkaku stood on guard, ready to fight.

"Well… if that's how you prefer it."

Kenjaku's smile turned cold and calculating. He jumped down and landed in front of them, his stance calm but charged with power. Performing multiple seals with incredible speed, he muttered,

"Wood Style: Underground Root Jutsu."

Immediately, thick, sturdy roots emerged from the ground, wrapping around both brothers with precision and speed. The ninjas tried to break free, but the roots not only immobilized their bodies but also drained their chakra, limiting any attempt to harness the Kyūbi's power they had absorbed.

The brothers felt their bodies going numb, and a sense of desperation and shock began to color their expressions. Additional roots covered their mouths and tightened around their necks, stifling any chance to scream or release chakra.

Kenjaku, with indifference, cleaned his ear with his pinky finger as he walked among the immobilized bodies of the brothers. He leaned over Kinkaku, who was still clutching the scroll with Tobirama's body, and after a brief inspection, he retrieved the scroll.

To ensure the brothers couldn't escape or release the Kyūbi's chakra, Kenjaku placed a seal on each of them—not overly powerful, but strong enough to keep them restrained.

"With a bit of Wood Release, this should be enough to cover what the seals can't," he murmured to himself.

Around him, the fallen shinobi from the enemy squad lay unconscious or lifeless, some still dangling from tree branches, others likely killed upon hitting the ground from great heights. Kenjaku raised his hands toward Kinkaku and Ginkaku, slowly absorbing the Kyūbi's chakra within them. Twenty minutes later, after completing the exhausting process, he sighed as a drop of sweat ran down his forehead.

"Whew, that took some time…"

He examined the lifeless bodies of Kinkaku and Ginkaku, now completely drained of chakra. He had killed them after absorbing the Kyūbi's power, and he ensured to take the treasures of the Sage of Six Paths that they carried.

When he finished, he turned on his heel, ready to leave, but a familiar presence caught his attention.

"Zetsu…"

Kenjaku said without surprise, noticing the black-and-white figure of Zetsu emerging from a nearby tree.

"Madara wants to see you,".Zetsu replied in his dark and enigmatic tone.

Without another word, Zetsu disappeared back into the trees, taking the bodies of the Gold and Silver brothers with him. Kenjaku watched him vanish and then murmured with a slight smile:

"It's been a while since I last spoke with Madara… I wonder what he wants now."
