Reincarnated Wehraboo's Revenge

Chapter 52: Operational orders

Meanwhile, Erika went inside the living room leaving Maruschka outside with Bauer.

She picked up the telephone receiver and called at her mother.

Since she didn't bring her own field telephone set out of fear of someone noticing it, she had to communicate with the one she gifted her father.

Whenever she called home it'd be her mother to pick the phone first.

Erika would chat every saturday with her mother, but today was a bit unexpected.

"What's wrong Erika dear? Why are you calling me today?" Mother said from the opposite side of the phone.

"Actually it's about Maruschka. Remember the commoner friend I spoke to you about. She is having some trouble. Is Emil home by any chance?"

"I think he's home today. I'll call him."

Erika could hear faintly as her mother asked a maid to get Emil.

Duchess handed the telephone over to the maid who handed it to Emil.

"Good day milady. Can I help you with anything?"

"Yes, good day Emil. I want you to take immediate actions on some subjects."

"Anything for you milady."

"Listen, I want to move an orphanage along with all it's staffs and children to our territory. So start with making preparations for that." She continued.

"Find a suitable lodging and then send some carriages to take the people there."

"As you wish milady." Emil replied.

"Finally, I've got news of the Royal Army of Hohenstaufia has been increased in manpower and under pretext of training is moved near the territory."

This time Erika whispered as silently possible to the phone, afraid that others might hear her.

Though there was no one in the room and on the other side her mother had also left after handing the phone over along with her maid.

"That's indeed a troublesome development milady. Do you want me to mobilise the Wehrmacht and dislodge them?"

Emil whispered as well, pressing the telephone closely to his skin.

"Not now. If we attack them now it'll cause trouble for us later." Erika whispered.

"Instead mobilise the Luftwaffe. Tell them to monitor the Royal Army movement 24/7 but not to engage."

"As you wish milady." I will tell them that.

"Put the Grossdeutschland and Brandenburg regiments on standby. In case the Royal Army crosses our border take immediate actions."

"Are there any more orders milady?" Emil asked.

"No that's all. Make the preparations immediately."

Putting down the telephone Emil rushed out of the palace.

To him the priority was to first send the Luftwaffe on mission.

Reaching, the weird airfield, which only had two ballistae and five hangers on left side, very close to the ballistae.

There were some tin shed houses storing the guards, the pilots and other airfield staffs.

There were a few 40mm twin anti-aircraft guns around the field as well.

Emil went to the largest three storied building.

This functioned as the control tower and the Luftwaffe commander's house and command centre.

Entering the building he went straight to the third floor.

Here he was greeted by the Luftwaffe commander Colonel Stiegler Hartmann.

Emil didn't waste any time. He relayed the orders directly.

"Listen Colonel, our Kommandant Erika has orders for you."

"Oh, the supreme commander herself. What is it? I will complete her orders."

"Mobilise two gliders. The Hohenstaufia Royal Army is stationed just outside our borders."

"Does she want us to attack them?" Stiegler asked.

He already knew the Heer going to missions inside dark forest regularly and wanted to see the Luftwaffe in action as well.

As a result he was excited. The other officers present were excited as well.

However, this excitement was short lived.

"Not for now. She only wants you to monitor the movement for now. She doesn't want to provoke them first."

The excitement of the officers died down. Still they were happy to get their first operational orders.

"Monitor and report their positions 24/7 but Do Not ENGAGE."

Emil pressured the last part.

"Ja wohl Herr General Leutnant." Stiegler saluted.

Immediately he sent two staffs to the pilot and ground crew barracks to relay the orders.

The pilots immediately rushed to get into their flight suits.

These suits were nothing special and not even close to modern flight suits.

Just some brown tunic with matching brown trouser. A helmet with eye goggles and a parachute to jump out if necessary.

After changing, they rushed to the hangers, where the ground crews already prepared the gliders and `the ballistas.

The airfield crew after getting the orders, pulled two BV 40 gliders from the hangers and set them into the ballistae along with their pilots.

The ropes were released and the two Blohm & Voss BV 40 gliders flew away.

They flew outside the border of Raubenbraum Duchy to look for the Royal Army camps.

Meanwhile Emil now rushed to the Heer's lagers.

In the new and enlarged lager or barrack, he went to the OKW building.

Here he was greeted by his second in command, Epps.

He now held the rank of General-Major and was the adjutant of Emil.

Here, Emil relayed Erika's other orders.

He asked the GD and Brandenburg Regiments to halt all their operations and prepare for any eventualities with the Hohenstaufia Royal Army.

Everyone excitedly went to work.

The orders were relayed to the soldiers who immediately went into action.

The soldiers felt extremely thrilled. After fighting with monsters for so long they felt fairly strong enough to deal with anything in this world.

However, since the orders were just to standby, the soldiers felt a little sad.

After completing preparations, they talked amongst themselves.

"Hey, why can't we just go in and destroy the Royal Army?"

"I don't know. I also want to just end the enemy and return to get some girls."

"As if! No girl really ever bat an eye on you."

"Don't worry, ladies like men in uniform. Hahah"

"So you want to show the precious uniforms made by our kommandant herself to people?"

"You'll put in the court of honors and court martialed for that. Haha."

"I'm sure the kommandant has her reasons."

"What can it be?! If we can take down fierce monsters in the dark forest why would a few knights scare us?"

"SILENCE!" an officer shouted hearing their whispers.

"Remember, our job is to do whatever is asked of us. If the Kommandant wants us to wait, we wait. If she asks us to attack, we attack."

The soldiers all stood straight without uttering a single word.

The officer continued, "Without knowing the enemies true intentions or their strength we can't take actions."

He walked in front of the troops standing in front of the column.

"Moreover, the kommandant is in the enemy fortress along with her father and our Erster Generalquartiermeister. If we take actions now, they could be harmed."

As the officer made the situation clear, the soldiers also understood the gravity of the situation.

Indeed, since Erika was already in the royal capital Frundestein along with her father the duke and Bauer, they were in the hands of the prince.

Even if the Wehrmacht destroys the Royal Army in the border, prince can take them hostage or kill them before, the Wehrmacht got to the city.

Emil on the other hand worked hard to secure a lodging.

After making preparations and talking to the duke and duchess he decided to merge the already existing orphanage with the new one.

Soon temporary houses were built in large numbers and preparations for permanent ones were also made.

Duke Walther made the preparations to send the children along with the sister to his territory under the guard of his knights.

Maruschka became very happy when Erika gave her the news.

She hugged Erika and cried.

"Sob, Thank you very much lady Erika for taking care of the children. Sob." Maruschka said as she held her head inside Erika's chest.

"I don't know what would've happened to the children if it weren't for you."

"Hey that's enough. You can't dirty lady Erika's clothes with snots and tears."

Hanna literally pulled her out from Erika.

She had come to inquire about the orphanage situation.

Ever since she heard along with Erika what happened, she frequently came to their dorm to find out about what happened and secretly offered help.

It was also thanks to Hanna who arranged for enough carriages that the children were moved so fast.

She also gave some money to the orphanage so that the children didn't go hungry.

"It seems the orphanage is saved now. So there is no reason to let the commoner stick to you like this."

"Fufu, you are surprisingly dishonest with your feelings." Erika smiled.

"I'm just as honest to myself as anyone." She said embarrassed.

Maruschka didn't say anything. She just stood in her place.

Bauer gave her a handkerchief to wipe her face.

Suddenly to everyone's surprise, Hanna hugged Erika and buried her face inside Erika's bosom just like Maruschka before.

"I can't let the commoner have this place. It's mine to begin with." She said.

Sweats came down from everyone's head.

"H-Hanna, what are you talking about?! And Maruschka was crying in the exact same place just a moment ago."

"I don't care. I won't let the commoner take my place."

Maruschka also rushed to Erika's side and grabbed her arms.

"Lady Hanna that place is already covered in my tears. You can't put your face there."

"Jealous of just a commoner?" Erika laughed.

Bauer meanwhile stood in her place feeling a little awkward.
