Rise of the Devil's Soul

Chapter 29: A Secret Escape Route

Just as he was about to drift back to sleep, another shock jolted him upright. This time, Wu Xie had had enough.

He sat on the edge of the bed, glaring at Wovi with all the authority he could muster.

"Listen here, you little... whatever you are," Wu Xie started, his voice firm. "If you have something to say, say it now. Otherwise, no more shocks, got it?"

Wovi, undeterred, simply tilted his head to the side and blinked innocently. It was almost infuriating how cute he looked.

"Fine, fine," Wu Xie muttered, feeling slightly defeated by a creature the size of his palm. "I'll wake up now since we can't go out. I'll just read the book."

With a sigh, Wu Xie got up from the bed and reached for the book that had fallen from him last night.

As he flipped through the pages, his mind still buzzing with the morning's unexpected shocks, he suddenly heard a voice. It was soft and faint, yet unmistakably clear.

"I have found a way to get out of here," the voice said, echoing through the room.

Wu Xie's heart skipped a beat, his eyes widening in disbelief. He looked around frantically, searching for the source of the voice.

And then, to his utter surprise, he saw Wovi sitting on the floor, looking up at him with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Wovi? You... you can talk?" Wu Xie stammered, his mind reeling with shock.

Wovi simply nodded, his tiny form radiating an air of confidence. "Yes, I can talk. And I have found a way for us to get out of this place."

Wu Xie couldn't believe his ears. Here he was, face to face with a tiny creature that had just spoken to him, claiming to know a way out of the academy. It was surreal, to say the least.

"How... how did you find this?" Wu Xie asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.

Wovi grinned, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. "Oh, I have my ways," he replied cryptically. "But the important thing is, we can leave this place."

"You know, you could have mentioned this before the electric shocks," Wu Xie said dryly, trying to keep his annoyance in check.

Wovi shrugged, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You didn't give me a chance," he replied, a hint of cheekiness in his voice.

"Alright, no more games," Wu Xie said firmly, feeling a strange sense of camaraderie with the tiny creature. "Tell me, what have you found?"

And so, in the early hours of the morning, Wu Xie found himself listening intently as Wovi explained a secret passage hidden beneath the academy.

"Alright, Wovi," Wu Xie said, determination in his voice. "Show me the way."

'Even a hamster-looking creature has become my guide,' Wu Xie thought to himself with a mixture of amusement and disbelief. 'What a strange and magical world this is turning out to be.'

In the stillness of the early morning, Wu Xie found himself following Wovi through the shadows of the academy grounds.

The little creature darted between bushes and undergrowth with surprising agility, guiding Wu Xie towards their escape route.

As they approached the back of the academy, they found themselves facing a tall wall, its imposing structure blocking their way. Wu Xie looked up at the wall, a hint of uncertainty in his eyes.

"Do we... do we need to climb that?" he asked, his voice betraying a touch of nervousness.

Wovi, ever the mischievous guide, looked at Wu Xie with a mixture of exasperation and amusement. "No wonder Master Fu calls you stupid sometimes," he quipped before disappearing into a nearby bush.

Wu Xie sputtered indignantly, "Hey, who are you calling stupid?!" but Wovi was already on the move, leaving Wu Xie little choice but to follow.

Grumbling to himself, Wu Xie pushed his way through the dense foliage of the bush, feeling like an intruder in his own escape attempt. The branches scratched at his face and arms, and he couldn't help but curse under his breath.

Finally emerging on the other side of the bush, Wu Xie found himself in a small clearing. In the dim light, he could just make out the entrance to a hidden cave.

"Ah, so this is our way out," Wu Xie muttered to himself, a sense of excitement and trepidation building in his chest.
