Chapter 45: Leonardo Hunter's Life.
Carlson nodded and stepped outside the hospital room, feeling a sense of uncertainty. What would happen next? Would Rita ever forgive him?
As he waited outside, Carlson couldn't help but think about his mistakes. He had taken Rita for granted, assuming that she would always be there for him. But now he realized that he had to fight for her, to prove that he was worthy of her love.
As Carlson waited outside the hospital room, he decided to take care of one thing that had been weighing on his mind. The hospital bill. He walked to the nurse's station and asked to speak to the hospital administrator.
A few minutes later a middle-aged woman with a kind smile came out to greet him. "Hello, Mister Carlson, l am Misses John, the hospital administrator. How can I help you?"
Carlson explained that he wanted to settle the hospital bill for Rita's treatment. Misses Johnson nodded and disappeared into her office, returning with a thick stack of papers.
"Here is the current bill, Mister Carlson, "she said, handling him the papers. As you can see, the total came out to be ten thousand dollars.
Carlson's eyes widened slightly as he scanned the bill. It was a significant amount, but he was relieved that he could afford it. He pulled out his checkbook and began to write a check.
"Would you like to pay by credit card instead, Mister Carlson? " Misses Johnson asked. " We accept all major credit cards. "
Carlson hesitated for a moment before responding "No, I will pay by check. Can I get a receipt please?"
Misses Johnson nodded and took the check from him. I will get you a receipt right away, Mister Carlson."
As Carlson waited for the receipt, he felt a sense of relief wash over him. At least he could take care of the hospital bill and alleviate some of the financial stress on Rita and her family.
But as he took the receipt from Misses Johnson and tucked it into his pocket, he couldn't shake off the feeling that he still had a long way to go to make things right with Rita.
Carlson then left the hospital and went back home to have some rest.
As the hospital cardiologist, Leonardo Hunter was a force to be reckoned with. At just 38 years old, he had already made a name for himself in the medical community with his exceptional skills and dedication to his craft. His chiseled from years of intensity and focus, yet his warm smile could put even the most anxious patients at ease.
Despite his many accomplishments, Leonardo's personal life was a different story. His relentless drive to save lives left him little time or energy for romantic entanglements. He had grown accustomed to the solitudes, convincing himself that love was a luxury he couldn't afford. His work was his true passion, and he poured every ounce of himself into it.
As he scrubbed out of the operating room, his mind was already racing a head to the next procedure, the next life to save. Little did he know, his life was about to take an unexpected turn, one that would challenge everything he thought he knew about; life, love and priorities.
Leonardo's days blended together in a blur of scrubs, surgeries and hospital corridors. He spent more hours at the hospital than he cared to admit, often arriving before dawn and leaving alone after dusk. His colleagues joked that he must have a secret bed hidden somewhere in the intensive care unit, because it seemed like he had never left.
And in many ways, they weren't wrong. Leonardo's apartment had become nothing more than a place to crash, a temporary refuge from the demands of his job.
He would stumble through the door, exhausted, and collapse onto the couch, too drained to even make it to his bedroom.
His social life consisted of hasty conversations with nurses and doctors, punctuated by the beeps and chimes of medical equipment.
Despite his best efforts, Leonardo's worklife balance had long since tipped into chaos. He knew it, his colleagues knew it, and deep down, he wondered if it was worth the cost. But every time he thought about scaling back, he would remember the thrill of saving a life, the rush of adrenaline as he worked to revive a failing heart. It was a high like no other, and it kept him coming back for more.
Leonardo's adoption journey was not without its challenges, but his love for Krista kept him going. He remembered the day he found her like it was yesterday. The tiny baby was wrapped in a blanket, her necklace with the letter K engraved on it and Leonardo had taken it as a sign that he was meant for her father.
As he navigated the adoption process, Leonardo encountered many hurdles. There were countless forms to fill out, interviews to attend, and background checks to undergo. But he preserved, driven by his desire to give Krista a living home.
Finally, the day arrived when Leonardo could officially call Krista his daughter. He beamed with pride as he held her in his arms, his big brown eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Krista Hunter, my dear, you are mine now, he said, whispered, his voice trembling with emotions.
As they left the adoption agency, Leonardo couldn't help but think about the mysterious circumstances that had brought Krista into his life. He wondered about her biological parents and the story behind her necklace. But for now, he was just grateful to have her by his side. Let's go home, Krista,"he said, smiling at his new life starting together."
Leonardo couldn't believe his luck when he finally adopted the baby girl. He had never thought of becoming a father in his life. But now this time he had to accept the reality that he was his now. He named the baby Krista Hunter after his late mother.
As he brought Krista home, Leonardo knew he needed to make some changes to his lifestyle. He couldn't take care of the baby on his own, so he decided to hire some help.
