Chapter 3: 3
The tunnel led straight to her secret garage where all hr race cars were hidden safely away from her parents' disapproving scrutiny and the publics' mocking eyes. The garage wasn't anywhere close to the palace but the tunnel just led all the way out there. She'd found out about the tunnel when she was five and wondered about in the darkness until she found the light again and what she saw amazed her to the core.
The garage was right next to a beach that no one ever came to, abandoned if you must. The garage was broken down and dilapidated but nothing a little hard work couldn't fix. She didn't want anyone to find out about her discovery so she ended up only telling the two people she trusted the most in the world, Aaron and Alice. They helped her fix the place up and transporting her collection of cars was a whole other task that shed somehow taken care of.
She usually only came here to get the car she'd use for the race or to fix up one or two on any of her cars that had problems or she would just come here with Aaron and Alice when they wanted to escape the royal life. It was fun, relaxing and anything far from being a royal and the perfect place for her to pour out her anger.
She had Aaron get her a junkyard Audi so she keep herself busy with when she wasn't racing or wanted to just escape her parents. She pulled her gloves on and began working on the engine of the car. It was a smooth process but her clothes got stained with grease a lot. She worked on the engine for almost the whole day; it was way past ten when she'd finally raised her head from the hood of the car. She sighed, relieved that she'd completely forgotten about Vincent and all her royal problems. She picked up a towel from a rack and wiped her hands and face clean.
The Audi would take another few weeks before it would be ready to feel the tracks again. The thought of another car being added to her collection excited her. She walked to the end of the garage and pressed a few buttons. A loud contraction echoed in the silent building and the wall slid open and the dark room was quickly illuminated.
Cars of different colors, types, brands and efficiency displayed for the eyes to see. She was yet to pick one she would use for the Regal Circuit Challenge in two days. She remembered she hadn't replaced her suit yet. She concluded, after staring at the cars that Aaron would help her chose a car and Alice would help her with a new suit.
She put the towel back on the rack, slid the wall back in place then went out to the beach and jumped into the water. That was very relaxing indeed, a cold wash from the grease and engine oil she'd smeared on herself for the day. After she was sure she'd washed off all the grease, she slowly made her way to the shore and sat there, her thoughts wondering as she stared at the starlit sky mentally counting the stars.
She still wondered why her parents were so insistent on her marrying Vincent. Usually, they'd give up on persuading her when they knew they couldn't keep up with her stubbornness but they were yet to give up and she wasn't sure how stubborn she would keep being, she was getting tired of walking out on them, ignoring them and exchanging words with them.
She figured, as she got up from the cool sand, that her parents wouldn't give her any reasons, so why not question the asshole they wanted to sell her off to?
