RWBY: Oscar the gamer

Chapter 21: Swimming Pool

Oscar stood at the edge of Beacon Academy's swimming pool, looking down at the crystal-clear water. The serene atmosphere of the pool gave him a sense of calm, but he was here for a much more practical reason. The Poseidon Blessing skill he had acquired was still at a low level, and he wanted to maximize the benefits of being in the water. Not only would he improve his Poseidon Blessing, but the physical exertion would help boost his stamina, strength, endurance, and agility. A double win, if you will.

He dipped a toe into the water, feeling its coolness against his skin, before diving in fully. The water wrapped around him, the coolness invigorating him as he began swimming laps. His body moved with an almost effortless grace, his arms cutting through the water, and his legs pushing him forward.

Oscar focused on the rhythm of his strokes, letting his body get used to the movements, all while activating the Poseidon Blessing. He felt the connection to water deepen, an unfamiliar but welcome sensation washing over him. The longer he swam, the more the blessing seemed to activate, helping him feel lighter, faster, more capable. His stamina and endurance began to grow, and it felt like the water itself was feeding his strength.

As the minutes passed, Oscar pushed himself harder, maintaining his focus. He swam even faster, his body moving with more agility than before. The blessing seemed to guide him, enhancing his swimming technique, and with each lap, he felt his muscles working in ways they hadn't before.

A few hours passed, and Oscar finally climbed out of the pool, panting slightly but feeling more alive than he had in days. The system chimed, confirming the progress he'd made.

Ding!

[ Poseidon's Blessing - Level 2 ]

[ Stamina + 1 ]

[ Strength + 1 ]

[ Endurance + 1 ]

[ Agility + 1 ]

Oscar smiled as he looked at the system's updates. It was paying off. The Poseidon Blessing skill had leveled up, and his physical stats had been enhanced as well. Not bad for a day's work.

He stretched out his arms, feeling his muscles ache slightly but also feeling stronger. Tomorrow, he would continue to push himself, but for now, he was satisfied with his progress.

"Time to get some rest," Oscar murmured to himself, walking back toward the dorms.

Oscar then heard foot step, he got up as he saw Team JNPR coming in, Ren and Jaune was wearing swim trunks, they were there, Ren had a swimwe build as for Jaune he need a much better training to make his muscle in his body as for Nora and Pyrrha will oh boy seeing thw two girls made him blush both of that girls was wearing a one-piece swimsuit, they were hugging thege body showing thehe curves if was give to by beacon sense it had the official Beacon simble, he saw it once and the back was completely exposed which made Oscar thing if was made by a pervert, Oscar just hided him self in the water as he did he saw something

Ding!

[Host has gotten a +1 to stamina]

Oscar quickly ducked deeper into the water, trying his best not to draw attention to himself. The sight of Team JNPR entering the pool area, with Nora and Pyrrha in their form-fitting one-piece swimsuits, was enough to make his heart race. He had no intention of making things awkward, especially with Nora's boundless energy and Pyrrha's presence as the most graceful of them all.

Ren was focused, clearly here to train, while Jaune seemed a bit less confident in his swimwear, still clearly in need of more physical training to improve his physique. Nora, as always, had an infectious excitement about her, practically bouncing on her heels as she chatted with Pyrrha.

Oscar couldn't help but glance at the two girls again. Their one-piece swimsuits, showing off their athletic builds, only amplified the awkwardness he felt. The swimsuits bore the official Beacon logo, which meant they were issued by the academy. The back of each was entirely exposed, a detail that Oscar found... interesting. He quickly turned his attention back to the water, trying to avoid any more distractions.

As he swam a few more laps to clear his mind, a small notification from the system popped up.

Ding!

[Host has gained +1 to Stamina.]

Oscar let out a quiet sigh of relief. The swim was doing its job, and even though his mind was a little preoccupied, he was getting stronger. He kept to himself in the water, silently observing Team JNPR as they began to swim and splash around.

Nora, full of energy, immediately dove into the pool with a loud splash, sending waves of water toward Oscar, who ducked lower to avoid getting wet. Jaune hesitated, not sure if he was ready to dive in just yet. Meanwhile, Pyrrha gracefully entered the pool, as if the water was second nature to her.

Oscar, feeling slightly more at ease in the water, took another lap. He wasn't sure how much longer he'd stay, but for now, the solitude of the pool was a welcome escape.

Ren finally let his hand in the water, as he then pulled Oscar out holding his hair. "You do release I am too of stealth class Oscar".

Pyrrha noticed him, as she then blush, she was embrace to wear this in public but sense it was hee team only or that what she thought she didn't mind, but not finding Oscar there she almost let out a small squeak, as for Jaune he saw Oscar and he noticed Oscar also has a swimmer body, as he was out done by 14 year old Oof.

Nora looked at Oscar as she laughed. "Oh wow, looks like it is not only us, why are you doing here". Shs then looked at her and Nora. "Are toy spying on us or something".

Oscar screamed in his head. "No no no no no no, i-i-i was just training and I had no idea that you guys would be here and Ren how did fih even catch me".

Ren just looked at as he spoke. "I notice the movement's in the water that seems like someone trying to hide".

Oscar felt his face flush as the situation unfolded around him. He never expected to be caught like this—especially not by Ren, the stealthy one. The entire scenario felt like a perfect storm of awkwardness.

He was just about to stammer out an explanation when Nora, ever the energetic one, jumped in with a laugh. "Training, huh? Sure, sure. But I mean, look at you! You've got the swimmer's build going on, Oscar!"

Oscar sighed internally. Great, now I'm being called out. He tried to focus on the water, his only real safe haven right now. "I swear, I wasn't spying! Just, uh, doing some laps and… training," he repeated, still flustered.

Pyrrha, sensing the discomfort in Oscar's voice, smiled gently and gave a small wave. "It's alright, Oscar. We're all just here to have fun and train," she said, her voice calm and soothing, like always. She wasn't as bothered by the situation, but Oscar could still see a faint blush coloring her cheeks. Maybe it wasn't just him feeling awkward after all.

Jaune, still adjusting to the new physicality of his swimwear, laughed nervously. "Hey, man, don't feel bad. We all have our moments. If anything, you're making us look bad with that swimmer's build. I mean, seriously, you're, like, 14!"

Oscar winced at that. "I know, I know…" He wasn't exactly thrilled with being reminded of his age, especially considering he still had a lot to learn. He wasn't just going to let it bother him though—at least, that's what he told himself.

Nora, still bubbling with energy, grinned mischievously. "Well, if you're gonna train in the pool, you should at least join us, right? No more hiding in the water, Oscar! Come on, show us what you can do!"

Oscar, unsure how to respond, glanced nervously at Ren, who simply gave him an unreadable look, likely already assessing the situation and figuring out how to handle the weirdness. "I… guess I could join in for a bit. I mean, I've been swimming for a while…"

Nora jumped up and down in excitement. "Yes! Now we can see you swim! Get ready, Pyrrha! Oscar's gonna give us a run for our money!"

Oscar hesitated but finally pushed himself out of the water, shaking himself off. He glanced at Pyrrha, who offered a reassuring smile, though there was a hint of nervousness in her posture as she tried to adjust to the swimsuit and the unexpected attention.

"Alright, fine. But I'm not going easy on any of you," Oscar said, a playful smirk breaking through the nervousness. He felt the Poseidon Blessing still coursing through him, giving him that extra bit of confidence. He wasn't exactly competitive by nature, but with the blessing's effect and his body's transformation, he felt like he could keep up.

Nora immediately started splashing around, probably trying to challenge him, while Jaune and Ren just exchanged amused glances. Oscar took a deep breath and dove back into the water, cutting through it with ease. The coolness of the pool felt comforting against his heated skin as he pushed forward, focusing on technique and speed.

As the others joined him, the training atmosphere quickly turned into a more playful competition. Nora was speedily swimming circles around everyone, while Pyrrha's graceful strokes were as smooth as ever. Jaune and Ren, each in their own rhythm, were definitely putting in the effort.

Oscar's thoughts drifted for a moment as he swam, the water flowing effortlessly around him. This isn't so bad. Maybe this is what I needed—a break from everything else. Just training…

But, just as the water seemed to calm his nerves, his mind flashed back to his earlier embarrassment. He couldn't forget the awkwardness of the whole situation—the girls in their swimsuits, his awkward hiding, and Ren of all people catching him.

Yet, as he glanced at the others, it wasn't long before the tension in the pool lifted. Nora and Jaune's laughter, Ren's calm demeanor, and Pyrrha's encouraging presence all helped him relax. Maybe it wasn't so bad. Maybe he could do this—be himself, without worrying so much about what others thought.

And maybe—just maybe—the day would end with everyone a little bit stronger, both physically and in their bonds as teammates.

The rest of the training session passed by in a blur of friendly competition, splashing, and casual conversation. Oscar found himself, for the first time in a long time, enjoying the simple act of swimming with friends.

Afterward, everyone gathered by the edge of the pool to cool off and rest.

"Well, that was a lot of fun!" Nora declared with a grin, pulling herself out of the pool and shaking the water off. "But I think I could use a snack. Anyone else hungry?"

"I'm always hungry," Jaune chimed in, clearly already thinking about food. "Let's grab some lunch!"

Oscar felt a grin tug at his lips. "Sure, I'll join you guys. I owe it to myself to recover from this intense training." He chuckled, still feeling the exhilaration of the session, but more relaxed than before.

Pyrrha smiled, pulling herself out of the water. "You did great today, Oscar," she said with genuine warmth, "It was good to see you enjoy the training with us."

"Yeah, I agree," Ren added. "Not every day you see someone who can swim that fast."

Oscar's face turned slightly red, but he nodded. "Thanks, guys. It was fun. Let's go grab something to eat."

Jaune then noticed something. "Hey the four of you are from Mistrial right".

Jaune's confusion was evident, and the rest of Team JNPR noticed it. They could see that he was trying to piece things together, but there was a lot more to Mistral than he probably realized. The atmosphere shifted slightly as they all waited for someone to elaborate.

Ren, still in the water, leaned back a bit and spoke with a calm, measured tone. "Mistral's a huge place. It's not just one city or one culture; there's a lot of diversity within the kingdom. We all come from different parts of Mistral, and those areas have their own unique histories, traditions, and even struggles."

Oscar, who had been quietly listening, now nodded in agreement. "Exactly. I'm from the eastern part of Mistral. It's a bit more isolated compared to the rest, and we have our own way of doing things. The eastern regions tend to be a bit more independent-minded, even if we're part of the kingdom."

Pyrrha, who had been listening intently, added softly, "As for me, I'm from the southern part of Mistral, near the coast. My family's history is tied to a long line of warriors. I suppose that's where the differences might come from—geographically and culturally, Mistral can feel like four or five different worlds in one."

Nora, ever the energetic one, sighed and shook her head. "You don't even know the half of it, Jaune. People from different regions don't always get along. We've had some… well, let's just say 'conflicts' in the past." She looked at Ren and Oscar, as if silently agreeing not to go into too much detail.

Jaune furrowed his brow, still trying to understand. "So, is it like a family thing? Or... I'm still kind of lost here."

Ren's gaze softened a little, and he slowly waded to the edge of the pool. "Not exactly. It's more than just family. It's about the history of our regions, the politics, and the different way people live depending on where they're from. For example, the western parts of Mistral, where Nora and I are from, are more industrialized, will not all. We've got a lot of factories, and it's where a lot of the workforce comes from. But the eastern side, where Oscar's from, is known for its more spiritual and remote communities."

Pyrrha looked thoughtful for a moment before speaking again. "Mistral has always been a place of contrasts. There's a long history of conflict, not just internally but also with outside forces. Our differences are something that's shaped us, and, well, it's complicated."

Oscar's eyes flickered briefly as he glanced at his friends. "You see, Jaune, it's not something we're all particularly proud of. Mistral's past is filled with division, and we're trying to build something better, but it's not easy."

Jaune's eyes widened a bit as the pieces started to fall into place. "Oh, I get it now. So, you're all like—well, not enemies, but your regions don't always get along?"

Nora grinned but it was a sad kind of grin. "Yeah, pretty much. It's not as simple as just North, South, East, or West. But the most important thing is, we're all here at Beacon now. It's about finding common ground and making it work, right?"

Oscar nodded, giving Jaune a small, understanding smile. "Exactly. All that history doesn't matter here. We're a team now, and that's all that matters."

Jaune seemed to process this for a moment, glancing between the four of them. "I guess… I guess that makes sense. It's kind of like how Vale and Atlas have their own conflicts and issues. I'll admit, I don't know much about Mistral's history, but I can tell there's more to it than I realized."

"Don't worry," Pyrrha said with a warm smile, "You'll learn in history class. It's just not something we always talk about because, well, it's complicated and, honestly, not all that pleasant to revisit."

Nora's grin returned, a bit lighter this time. "But hey, we're all here now, right? That's what counts!"

Oscar chuckled softly, feeling a bit more at ease. "Exactly. And besides, we don't need to dwell on the past. We've got plenty of time to make our own history now."

The conversation died down as they all began to climb out of the pool, drying off and chatting more casually. Jaune still seemed a bit lost in thought, but it was clear he had a better understanding of where his teammates were coming from.

As they made their way toward the locker rooms, Oscar couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie among them. Despite their differences, they were all working together, forging a new path.

"Hey," Jaune said, catching up with Oscar. "Thanks for clearing that up. I get it now."

Oscar smiled, feeling a lightness in his chest. "No problem, Jaune. It's not always easy to talk about, but we're here to help each other out."

And with that, the group moved on, each of them reflecting on the conversation in their own way. For Oscar, it was a reminder that their past didn't have to define them, and that here, at Beacon Academy, they had the chance to shape their own futures.
