Chapter 86: Heaven's Iron Ball!
A golden opportunity!
At this moment, Onoki sat on the seat reserved for the Tsuchikage, outwardly calm, yet internally, waves of emotion surged like a raging river.
However, as he had considered earlier, making a move would mean completely tearing the veil of civility. If he failed to capture Hiruzen Sarutobi, the situation could spiral into an uncontrollable disaster...
Hiruzen Sarutobi slowly stood up, letting out a soft sigh in his heart.
Who would have thought that everything before his eyes stemmed from a simple graduation exam of a ninja academy student four years ago?
What an absurdity...
Yet, at this moment, Hiruzen Sarutobi had no choice but to act.
"The resources of the Land of Fire naturally fall under its authority."
"Who they're given to, how they're distributed, and in what quantity—outsiders have no right to dictate."
Hiruzen Sarutobi's cloudy eyes turned sharp, his aura imposing as his voice rang with undeniable force.
"Kazekage, I can report to the daimyo to loosen the restrictions on resources for the Land of Wind."
"I can give you what you want."
"But you cannot take it by force!"
His words were like a tranquilizer, quickly stabilizing everyone's wavering hearts.
"If you extend your claws toward my belongings, I will cut them off. And you'll just have to bear the pain!"
With that, Hiruzen Sarutobi moved at a speed that defied his nearing-seventy age. His agility and precision were nothing short of astonishing.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, a master of ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu, was a true all-rounder. At such close range, his explosive power caught Rasa off guard. In an instant, the Kazekage found himself firmly gripped by Hiruzen Sarutobi and dragged to the rooftop of the conference hall.
However, a Kazekage is no ordinary ninja. Rasa's form dissolved into countless grains of gold sand, slipping from Hiruzen Sarutobi's grasp and reforming at a distance.
"Heh, such noble words!"
"You know the truth of this situation yourself."
"If this is your choice, then bear the consequences."
Rasa raised his hand. Seeing this, Hiruzen Sarutobi's guard went up, anticipating a powerful technique. But instead, a small white snake slithered out from Rasa's sleeve.
"This...!"
Hiruzen Sarutobi's expression darkened.
The small white snake opened its mouth, and a figure emerged from its seemingly tiny jaws.
"Hokage, your consequences involve more than just me."
"The traitor who left Konoha years ago, Orochimaru, is also your doing."
Rasa sneered at Hiruzen Sarutobi, who stood before him.
"Long time no see, Sensei..."
A man with long black hair slowly stood up, a sinister smile on his face as he looked at his former teacher of twelve years ago.
"Orochimaru..."
Seeing the figure before him, Hiruzen Sarutobi felt a moment of daze. Even though he had long anticipated this encounter, the reality of it still left him shaken.
At this moment, the four-member Sound Ninja team deployed earlier quickly rushed to the rooftop and performed a synchronized seal!
"Ninja Art: Four Violet Flames Formation!"
A purple barrier instantly enveloped the rooftop.
Onoki, sensing the disturbance above, felt a sense of relief.
With the Hokage trapped within the barrier, Rasa and Orochimaru working together could kill Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Summoning a giant snake from Ryuchi Cave using pre-prepared summoning scrolls would then throw Konoha into chaos.
Victory was within reach!
Today would mark the death of Hiruzen Sarutobi!
As Onoki prepared to stand, a figure cloaked in black suddenly appeared beside him, casually taking the Hokage's seat.
The figure tore off their mask and pulled back their hood, revealing...
A head of stunning, light blonde hair.
"What are you staring at?"
The newcomer glanced at Onoki with sharp, phoenix-like eyes, her tone utterly devoid of respect for the Tsuchikage.
"Tsunade... I didn't expect you to return to Konoha at this time."
Onoki, mid-motion to rise, sat back down again.
"I go where I want. You think you can control me?"
Tsunade lounged on the Hokage's seat, propping one leg over the other, her fingers interlocked on her stomach, and shut her eyes as though she owned the place.
Onoki refrained from arguing. As a taijutsu master, Tsunade could easily evade his Dust Release at such close range.
With caution in his heart, Onoki remained in his seat.
If the Hokage and Kazekage fought and Rasa won, he could mobilize his forces to attack the Land of Fire.
If the Hokage triumphed, he could maintain a fragile dependence on the meager resources allocated by the Land of Fire while taking advantage of Konoha's weakened state to strike.
If Konoha turned against him, Onoki could immediately ally with the Land of Lightning to pressure Konoha into retreating.
But... an alliance with the Land of Lightning...
The thought of past grudges between the Lands of Earth and Lightning brought a shadow to Onoki's face.
The five great nations were not united against Konoha; instead, they harbored their own grudges, even Wind and Water, separated by vast distances, had conflicts.
It was this division that had led Rasa to sell Sunagakure's hero, Pakura, to the Land of Water in exchange for peace.
"Someone made their move."
On the rooftop, Sakura Haruno noticed the Four Violet Flames Formation rising and quickly retrieved the scroll strapped to her back.
Kakashi, watching her actions, felt his eye twitch. A scroll of that size must hold something extraordinary.
"Release!"
With a single-hand seal, Sakura unleashed the scroll's contents.
Two massive objects materialized before Kakashi, their enormous shadows looming over him.
"What is this thing?"
Kakashi stepped back, his lone exposed eye widening at the sight of the colossal weapons.
The black metallic surface shimmered menacingly in the sunlight, the spiked spheres exuding an overwhelming sense of dread.
Sakura grabbed the connecting chains and tested the weight in her hands, the iron links clinking ominously.
"S-Sakura..."
Kakashi's mind froze at the sight of the massive flails. He couldn't fathom how anyone could wield such weapons.
"Kakashi, get ready."
Sakura gripped the chains tightly, taking a step forward. The chains grew taut, and her monstrous strength surged as the enormous spiked balls began to move!
The tiles beneath her feet groaned under the strain.
Sakura even had the mind to marvel at Konoha's architectural sturdiness.
"Let's go!"
With a roar, Sakura swung the iron chains with all her might, spinning the massive weapons in a terrifying arc.
The pink-haired girl spun like a top, the piercing sound of the spinning flails making Kakashi's scalp tingle with unease.
It felt like she didn't even need him to face Rasa—Sakura alone could smash the Kazekage to bits.
"Heavenly Meteor Flails!"
"Smash!"
With a deafening shout, Sakura launched the spinning flails directly at the Four Violet Flames Formation.
