Chapter 8: Chapter 4 Episode 5
~ Chapter 4 Episode 5 ~
Woosh, woosh, swinging his head left and right to the swish of the waves and calls of the birds, Samson rose his head off the rail and turned his head. "What is that?" he whispered to himself, detecting a wicked presence in the air. Doom, doom, doom casting his gaze out at a storm brewing in the distance, the Evol strolled across the deck eyes trained on the darkness. Poom, rotating at the smack of wooden doors on the deck, Abbott and the Captain ascended to his view from below.
"You can take a gander for yourself." Pointing to the fierce storms the Captain shook his head. "I don't know what kind of sorcery lay beyond that storm but ships never make it to land."
"Have these storms always existed?" Asked Abbott.
"No, they rose a little under a fortnight ago and have been wreaking havoc since its advent. We now have to convene in Tokoto City. The trek to Tumaini Mwasho will be nine days on beast."
Nodding his head Abbott swerved his gaze over to Samson hypnotized by the darkness brooding from beyond. "One moment."
"Go ahead."
Walking over to his disciple and tapping him on the shoulder Abbott asked him. "Have you enjoyed your trip?" Nodding his head Samson never took his eyes off the storm. "You see them too?"
Eyes glued on the horde of feathered demons dancing in and out of the lightning Samson asked. "What are those?"
"Manifestations from another dimension." Zooming out past the storms and demons a little past shore Abbott rocked his head. "That will do…Alright Samson time to go."
Dropping his jaw at the vanishing of his guest the Captain blinked his eyes and shook his head. "Why am I…Oh the storm." Walking over to the rail of his ship he shook his head. "That storm is more trouble than it's worth." Going back below deck he commenced to shout commands to his crew.

"Lt. Wollicke…" hollered a skinny white man in a black and white suit. Ducking a slash from his buffalo of a companion he dropped into a horse stance creating a purplish pink shield. Slamming his horns into the shield, the Arcadian backed up and ran into it again. "Lt. Wollicke! This is not you." Turning his head at the hollers and screams of people around the soldier fell into a tuck and roll weaving the advances of an undead.
Exhaling slowly as more burst through the guard clenched his jaws as two more of his comrades approached in their Arcadian Forms with raving eyes and drool raining from their fangs like the lieutenant. "You must have forgotten who your captain is. Let me show you." Unleashing his aura the Evol slid between his last two subordinates with ease, slicing them up.
U-turning on slime-like feet, the Captain's hands and forearms became a pinkish purple ooze like substance that he used to skate along the ground. Hardening it he punched the charging Lieutenant in the horns which made him raise back to two feet. Sliding into his subordinates' space he hit him with two more one in the nose the other in the solar plexus sending him flying. Detecting his previous soldiers coming up behind him the Captain created a wall of slime capturing them.
"Captain Schwowan."
Turning around to another one of his subordinates the Captain sighed in relief. "Report."
"Captain, it seems that all these creatures are undead and they consume the living. Once you die you become one of them."
Turning his head at his charging lieutenant the Captain let the slime he left on his companions chest consume him. "How were my guards affected and did this thing get into the city?"
"It is widespread throughout the city; there's fire and madness everywhere."
"Someone should've told me about this. Is there any way to kill them?" Asked the Captain.
"There seem to be only two methods. Fire and decapitation."
Shifting his eyes between his captive subordinates with a clench of his hands they were sliced ham. Taking a brief second to grieve, Schwowan narrowed his eyes on his comrade. "Tell everyone that is still sane now we must not let these monsters leave the city walls." Running off boing the Captain catapulted out of the courtyard.
Landing in the main square, hennn hooof wapich the neigh of a horse and the crackle of a whip caught the Captain's attention. Watching the head of an undead plop to the ground dookup dookup dookup boosh a half burning carriage loaded with dead and undead bodies flew past him crashing into a building. Swerving his head around at the wagon and the undead leaving it bubbles of slime began to excrete from Schwowan's body.
Pinpointing the runaway corpses sawoo the slime bubbles morphed into shurikens. "Aerial Grot" Lunging the stars at the undead woosh they flew across the square weaving through the stampeding crowd decapitating their targets. Creating a disc out of another bubble of slime the captain hopped on top. Ascending above the madness woosh bubbles swept out left and right saving people and decapitating the ravaging monsters.
"Fire!"
Spinning around from a shout from the rooftops Schwowan's eyes bulged out the hellfire of flaming arrows raining down. "The women and…" Yanking around facing the raving swarm of people below scurrying around in all directions, the brief thought of them being consumed by flames would be better than being eaten alive. Shaking his head the captain erased the thought. "Beckon Mire" Raising up a raging wave of slime, boom, an explosion went off on his left from an arrow which escaped the slime.
"Ahhh!" Screamed people dashing out of the burning nearby buildings into the grips of the undead which continued to accumulate.
Boom! Watching another explosion of flame arise in another part of the city Captain Schowowan became enraged. "Under whose command…" he shouted zooming towards the soldier on his disc of slime.

"All we have to do is make it to the City of Spes." Dashing through the night like two fugitives, a man and his wife's heads darted in all directions as they advanced through the forest maneuvering not by sight but by habit for even the animals knew the path they were taking. Weaving in and out of trees, leaping over roots and side stepping stones the couple ran till they reached the end of the forest a little over a mile away. Catching their breath at the exit the two smiled at each other then strode out of the forest.
"Thought you were going somewhere?" Hovering inches from the ground arms crossed and draconic wings flapping in the breeze Bayo the Arcane grinned menacingly. "The clever little Ruachs thought they were going to get away." Zipping through space within a heartbeat the Arcane backhanded the woman and kicked and grabbed the man by his throat with the use of his tail. "You were the will to worship Molmet and you chose to try and make an escape." Tossing a glimpse at the woman the demon lunged her mate to the ground. "I guess you two will be doing a live demonstration. Just in case the cages don't work."

"Help me!"
"My baby"
"Die!"
"Die!"
"Die!"
The screams of the people of Atrium echoed throughout the city as they fought or ran from the undead. Peering down from the heavens at the bloody massacre below Samson saw when the first fire lit up then second and third before almost the whole city was on fire.
"Haaaf!" Jolting awake tears streamed down Samson's eyes while his heart tried to break out of his chest. Rolling out of his sleeping bag barely able to breath the Evol inhaled with all his might then zipped into the starry night with the use of vulture wings. "That's..." taking a deep breath then releasing he said, "...better."
Rotating in the atmosphere taking in all of the fresh air an orange glint caught Samson's eye. Zooming in for almost a mile he realized that it was a fire. Tilting his head he could see little structures on the side of it even though he didn't know what they were. Peering down at his slumbering Pealim curiosity beat Samson on the head. Climbing higher into the night he said. "I'll be right back."
