Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Dawn had made a decision about today, she would be getting a job so that she could have some pocket money for herself.
After school, she cleaned and then went out searching for some work, and after an hour she found the perfect job for herself.
She was going to be a waitress at night for six hours, she could clean after school, do her homework then go at night to her waitressing job.
Her job was starting tomorrow when it was in the afternoon, she went home and cleaned, then did her homework and made her way to her job.
Days had gone by and she had to be honest with herself it was tiring,
"Dawn!"
She sat up, "Yes mam."
Everyone laughed and she blushed, Dawn had never fallen asleep in class and this was a first for her, it was Friday and finally she was done with her work shift.
They had closed way later than usual as they had a lot of clients, she got into the house,
"Dawn."
She jumped, Grayson had started her, "Yes."
She hoped that he would not be long, all she wanted was to go to bed,
"What is up with you?"
"Sorry."
"Do you know what you're even apologizing for?"
"No, but can we please do this another day."
"Leave then."
She climbed into bed and went to sleep, the following day she woke up and there was so much light when she turned to the side table it was two in the afternoon.
She jumped out of bed and began cleaning,
"You really are slacking off these days, is cleaning too much for you?"
"I have cleaned, it's just today, I forgot to set my alarm clock."
Grayson walked out and his Harley came to life and was gone in a flash, when she was done cleaning she had a few hours to spare.
When she was done at her job she fell asleep the minute her head hit her pillow, Sunday came and she was glad it was her day off.
She lay in the sun and was trying to read a novel, but she was dozing off,
"What is going on with you?"
She opened her eyes and Grayson stood there smoking, "Oh, is there something you need?"
"No, can you even hear what I'm saying?"
She rolled over and went back to sleep, Dawn was going through the days, and she constantly felt tired. Now she sat in class and the wind blew, it felt amazing.
"Lonely girl."
She turned to Keagan, "Hi."
"Why do you look like you came from the dead."
"I'm just tired."
Grayson too was observing her, it was time for gym and that made it all the worse, today it was dodge ball but there were two teams.
The game began and the balls began to fly, she could see a ball coming straight at her and knew the blow would be hard on her forehead.
Yet the ball never came and saw that Grayson had caught the ball and threw it back, he shook his head,
The game finished,
"Thanks for saving me from that blow."
"You look half dead, so don't thank me, I just did what I had to win the game."
"Ah."
The whole week she was doing a lot as usual, making sure to do Grayson's work, clean, and waitress.
Tonight it was Friday evening and she finished at one in the morning, she groaned when she saw that the busses would not be operating.
Using a taxi would cost her a lot of money, so walking it was. She made sure to walk by the street lights.
"Isn't that the freak!"
Dawn carried on walking, she knew it was students from school and it made sense as there was a movie theatre there and they often hung out by the parking lot.
There was laughter and gossip, but she did not care. She was already dragging her feet so that she could make it back.
She went out of their view as she turned the corner, Dawn got a fright from a loud noise and the bike stopped next to her.
"Here."
Grayson handed her a helmet.
She was very surprised,
Hop on before I change my mind."
She hopped on and her legs were on other side of him, she tried to hold on to the sides, but Grayson took her hands and wrapped them around him.
"Geez I won't bite, and besides I'm not attracted to you, you're way too plain.`"
"Okay."
All that she knew, from being called ugly to being called plain Jane, her heart was still beating so fast as she held on to him.
The wind felt nice and there was a rush to all of it, his scent was alluring, and they finally got home, Dawn took off the helmet and gave it back to him.
"Thank you."
"You don't have to, it's not like I went out of my way."
"Ah, makes sense."
"Besides, should you be walking so late at night?"
"The buses weren't working today."
"How about a taxi?"
"That would cost way too much money."
"So your safety comes second to money."
"Yes."
"You are something."
They got into the house, "I don't care about how tired you are but I want us to watch more episodes of You tomorrow."
"Okay....."
Dawn was happy that she had Saturday off and that she would be able to spend some of it with Grayson.
She couldn't wait, but he was gone when she woke up.
Later on, she was sitting in the living room when Grayson walked in, "I need to freshen up then we can watch."
"Okay!"
He looked at her weirdly and knew that she had answered way too enthusiastically.
He came back and his hair was wet and he looked good in his pajamas, but she looked away fast so that he would not see her.
They began watching,
"Now you can laugh, I guess you're a bit used to me now."
