"Miss, these fruits are unlike anything you've ever encountered," Rosh began with a calm, confident smile, gesturing toward the colorful and bizarrely shaped fruits in the display case. "Each one is unique in appearance because every Devil Fruit grants a completely different ability."
Pepper Potts studied the strange fruits with a frown. Their swirling patterns and odd shapes were certainly unusual, but her expression betrayed skepticism. "That's an interesting sales pitch," she said dryly. "But let's skip the theatrics. Just pick one for me—I'm in a hurry."
Her dismissive tone suggested she didn't believe the fruits were as extraordinary as Rosh claimed. He nodded, unfazed by her lack of enthusiasm. "Of course, if that's what you prefer," he replied smoothly. "Allow me to choose one that might suit you."
Rosh's eyes swept over the display, carefully considering each fruit. After a few moments, he reached for a small, purple fruit adorned with intricate swirl patterns. Its shape resembled a miniature rugby ball, and a subtle grin formed on his face as he held it up.
"If I may suggest," he said, his tone even but confident, "this is the Bubble-Bubble Fruit. I believe its abilities could resonate well with someone like you."
Pepper raised an eyebrow, her skepticism deepening. "Bubble-Bubble Fruit?" she repeated, her voice dripping with doubt. "Aren't these supposed to be Devil Fruits? You're losing me here, Mr. Shopkeeper."
Rosh chuckled, undeterred by her reaction. "'Devil Fruit' is the collective term," he explained patiently. "Each one has a unique name based on the power it grants. The Bubble-Bubble Fruit, for instance, gives its user the ability to create and control bubbles."
Pepper's brow furrowed, her disbelief plain on her face. "Bubbles?" she repeated incredulously, letting out a half-amused laugh. "Are you seriously telling me this fruit gives bubble powers? That's... adorable. Alright, I've humored you long enough. Let's just—"
She stopped mid-sentence as Rosh raised his right hand. A sudden flicker of golden light appeared at his fingertip, glowing brightly in the dimly lit shop.
Pepper's amusement faded in an instant, replaced by astonishment. Her eyes widened as she stared at his hand. "Your hand... it's glowing!" she whispered, her voice a mix of awe and disbelief.
With a small, knowing smile, Rosh casually raised his finger and aimed it at the shop's entrance. In an instant, a brilliant ray of golden light erupted from his fingertip, slicing through the air with the intensity of concentrated sunlight. A sharp crack echoed moments later, followed by the groaning creak of a tree trembling under the force of impact.
Startled, Pepper rushed to the door, her heels clicking against the floor. Stepping outside, she froze at the sight of the smoldering tree trunk across the street. A perfectly round hole, still glowing faintly, marred its bark. Wisps of smoke curled upward, and the charred edges radiated heat.
"No way…" she muttered, her hand reaching out instinctively toward the damaged bark. The heat radiating from it made her pull back immediately. "It's still burning hot!"
Rosh appeared beside her, his calm demeanor contrasting sharply with the awe and disbelief written across Pepper's face. A faint, wry smile curved his lips as he said, "My apologies, Miss. There was a rather pesky mosquito buzzing around, so I... dealt with it."
Pepper spun to face him, her expression a mix of incredulity and shock. "Are you kidding me? You call that dealing with a mosquito?" she exclaimed, pointing to the charred tree trunk as if needing confirmation that it had actually happened.
Rosh chuckled softly, unbothered by her reaction. "Perhaps I should've warned you beforehand," he said, his tone light but with a hint of teasing. "Photon bullets tend to generate significant heat. It's just a side effect of concentrating light energy—like sunlight being focused through a magnifying glass."
Pepper shot him a sharp glare, cradling her slightly singed hand. "You could've mentioned that before I touched it!"
Rosh offered an apologetic smile, though the glint of mischief in his eyes didn't escape her notice. "You're absolutely right. My mistake. How about I make it up to you with another demonstration?"
Her annoyance didn't last long. The sting in her fingers was quickly overshadowed by the whirlwind of thoughts racing through her mind. She wasn't just startled—she was intrigued. She narrowed her eyes, her analytical mind already dissecting what she'd just seen. "Hold on a second," she said, her tone sharper now. "What did you say earlier about this being a... Devil Fruit ability? Are you telling me what I just saw—that—is because of one of those fruits?"
"Exactly," Rosh replied smoothly, his voice calm but laced with undeniable confidence. "I am what you'd call a Sparkling Human. I gained this ability after consuming the Glint-Glint Fruit. The power you just witnessed? That's the fruit's ability in action."
Pepper's skepticism, which had been palpable moments ago, faltered under the weight of the extraordinary display. She glanced back at the shop, her eyes landing on the display case of strange, swirled fruits. The skepticism in her gaze softened, replaced by a flicker of curiosity—and perhaps something more.
