Chapter 679: Dangerous?
"T-Teleport?" The King's advisor stuttered.
And the King also asked in shock, "So, you're saying that you teleported here from Hell? Does that mean you are related to the D-Devil?"
The Royal Guards who were standing behind the King tightened their grip on their weapons. They weren't thinking of attacking that red-eyed man. They were rather worried if their weapons would be of any use if they had to protect their King from that man.
Damien gave a subtle smile to the King and replied, "No, Your Majesty. I am a demon born to the first demoness of Hell, Lilith."
The King felt goosebumps running down his whole body upon hearing the true identity of that man. He knew in that instant that the young man in front of him, who was, in reality, a demon, wasn't to be messed with.
Everyone from Wyverndale wasn't supposed to be messed with. But at least the King had heard his son talking very highly about them. Damien, on the other hand, was an unknown entity.
And so as not to offend the demon in any way, the King politely asked, "You came here all the way from the netherworld. You must be feeling tired and hungry. Is there something that I can offer you? Anything that you would like to eat or drink?"
The advisor instantly turned his head towards the King and looked at him with contempt. And he screamed in his mind, "How can you ask a demon what he wants to eat? What if he wants to eat you or me?"
Though the King wasn't showing that he was scared and was trying his best not to tremble in fear, Damien and Ariel knew how scared he really was.
A very subtle smirk appeared on Damien's lips. He looked like he had some plan in his mind. He then politely answered the shaken King, "Thank you for your generous offer. But I am full at the moment. Although, I haven't had Earth's food for almost a decade now. So maybe I can try it with my friends tomorrow."
Kenneth gave a side-eyed glance at Damien. He had feared that Damien would overstay his welcome. And seeing him try to do just that made him agitated.
The King gave a confused look to Damien and blabbered, "Tomorrow? You'll be joining us tomorrow as well? I mean, not that I don't want you to. I would love to host you alongside our guests from Wyverndale. I am just asking so that I can have everything prepared in advance."
Damien cleared his throat and gave a quick glance to Ramon.
And Ramon quickly came to his friend's aid. "Your Majesty, we were thinking that maybe Damien could stay with us for the rest of our trip. We are actually meeting after 9 years. So we still have a lot to talk about. And this visit here in Brenalia and Romania could be the perfect opportunity for us to rekindle our friendship."
"Rekindling the friendship... That sounds amazing." The King gave a nervous laugh and questioningly glanced at his son. Kenneth had that 'I had asked you to talk in the private, you were the one who didn't listen' look on his face.
No matter how much Kenneth hated the presence of Damien, he didn't want his father to rudely decline Ramon's request and ruin everyone's fun mood. So he gave a nod to his father.
And the King trusted his son's judgment and agreed. "Sure. I wouldn't want to stand in the way of rekindling the friendship." He glanced at Damien and politely said, "I will ask the servants to arrange a room for you. You are welcome to stay here in my Kingdom as our respected guest."
Damien gave a wide smile to the King and thanked him. "I am really grateful for your warm welcome."
And Damien also reassured the King since he was still giving off the scared aura, "I also assure you that I pose no threat to you or your Kingdom. You might be skeptical of me since I am a demon but I don't go around harming humans. I just want to enjoy my time with my friends."
King Walter gave a nervous smile and said, "All the Princes and Princesses from Wyverndale seem very close to you. So I doubt that you would do such things."
The King then swiftly turned to look at his advisor and ordered, "Why don't you arrange the accommodation for… Lord Damien?"
"Yes, Your Majesty," the advisor bowed to the King and left the common room.
King Walter then looked at his son and then pointed his brows towards the exit. And he asked, "Kenneth, why don't you come along?"
He then turned around and started to head towards his study.
Kenneth also followed his father, along with all the Royal Guards.
After they all left, Zach asked everyone in a soft voice, "You don't think the King is going to scold Kenneth, right?"
Damien nonchalantly replied, "I don't think the King will scold him. I feel like he fears his son."
"Pfff…" Zach jumped back on the sofa and then mumbled, "It didn't look that way during the dinner. He was very harsh on Kenneth."
Something clicked in Ramon's head. And he also sat down beside Zach and said, "I think the King was a little too harsh on Kenneth because he fears him. And he tries to use his authority as the King and as a father to keep Kenneth in check."
On the other side of the keep, inside the King's study, King Walter stood while facing his son. And he asked in a voice full of worry, "Kenneth, did you know that that Demon was coming here?"
Kenneth looked straight into his father's eyes and answered, "If I knew that he would come here like this, then I would have informed you beforehand, father."
"And what about your guests? Did they know? Did it seem like his arrival here was preplanned?" the King asked again.
Kenneth shook his head and replied, "What they said to you earlier is all true. I don't think anyone expected Damien's arrival here since they hadn't been in contact with him for 9 whole years."
"If he hadn't met with your guests for that long, then why did he come here now?" King Walter voiced his suspicion.
Kenneth sighed and answered his father even though he was really not in the mood to do so. "There was some misunderstanding between Princess Ariel and Damien in the past. And maybe he came to apologize to the Princess. I don't know how teleportation works. But I think he happened to come here because Princess Ariel was here."
The King nodded and went into some deep thoughts. And after a while, he asked Kenneth again, "And what kind of a demon is he? I mean… is he dangerous?"
Kenneth knew that Damien had tried to kill Ariel when they had fought each other. But he didn't want to mention that to his father and create unnecessary tension in the castle.
Also, everyone still seemed very fond of Damien even after what had happened. So he trusted that Damien wasn't much of a threat as Damien himself had said. And even if he was a dangerous demon, Kenneth knew that Ariel could easily put him down if he was to run rampant, harming the people of the castle.
"I don't really know much about Damien." Kenneth glanced at his father and then he firmly answered so that his father wouldn't worry too much, "But I can say that he isn't dangerous. Besides, they won't be staying here for too long. So, there's nothing to worry about."
