Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Threads Across the Web
Lex Luthor leaned back in his leather chair, his hands steepled as he gazed out over the glowing cityscape of Metropolis. His empire, LuthorCorp, dominated the skyline, unmatched in innovation, influence, and power—until now.
The name "Cybertech Cybernetics" had reached his ears weeks ago, whispered among the tech elite as a rising star. Now it was no longer whispers. CC had already begun purchasing high-profile properties in Metropolis, including labs and manufacturing facilities that LuthorCorp had been eyeing. Their products—especially the self-driving Car Plexicons—were disrupting multiple industries, and their humanoid robots, marketed as cutting-edge assistants for industries and households alike, were poised to change the game.
Luthor despised competition, especially competition that dared to encroach on his city.
"Mercy," Lex called out, his voice calm but sharp.
Mercy Graves, his loyal assistant, stepped into the office, tablet in hand.
"Gather everything on Cybertech Cybernetics," Lex ordered. "Every bit, and byte of data, every rumor, every connection, reliable or not. I want to know who's funding them, who their suppliers are, and why the hell they think they can challenge me in Metropolis."
"Yes, Mr. Luthor," Mercy replied, already typing furiously.
"Focus on their leaders," Lex added. "Whoever is at the top—find them. And if you can't find them, dig deeper. No one hides from me."
As Mercy left to carry out his orders, Lex turned back to the window, his mind already working on contingencies.
Nick Fury stood at the head of a conference table, a holographic projection of a Car Plexicon rotating in front of him.
"These cars are years ahead of anything we've seen," Agent Maria Hill reported, flipping through a dossier on Cybertech Cybernetics. "Their systems are as advanced as the Chitauri tech we encountered during the Battle of New York—but here's the kicker. Every material they've used is Earth-based. Nothing exotic, nothing alien."
"Which makes them even more dangerous," Fury muttered.
Hill nodded. "We've run background checks on their employees, and... nothing stands out. All of them have clean records, consistent histories, and impeccable qualifications. Too clean, if you ask me."
Fury frowned. "No one rises this fast without making enemies or leaving a trail. Keep digging. I want to know who's behind this, what they're hiding, and how they've managed to build something this advanced under the radar."
"Do you think they're connected to HYDRA?" Hill asked.
"Maybe," Fury replied. "Or maybe we're dealing with something worse."
Back on Plexicon, Shockwave reviewed the latest data streams his bots had intercepted. One word had appeared repeatedly, both on Earth and in encrypted Nova Corps transmissions: Monarch.
"Fascinating," Shockwave muttered as he studied the faction's files. Monarch was an organization devoted to studying and monitoring massive creatures—Titans, or Kaiju—that appeared on Earth and beyond. Their records spoke of enormous monsters like Godzilla, Mothra, and even the multi-headed Ghidorah.
Shockwave was intrigued by the mention of the Ghidorahs. He cross-referenced the name with Nova Corps data and found several territories marked as no-entry zones. These areas were reportedly inhabited by powerful multi-headed dragons of varying colors, each capable of wreaking devastation across entire planets.
"This changes everything," Shockwave mused.
Monarch represented both a threat and an opportunity. If Shockwave could infiltrate the organization, he could gain access to their research, their resources, and most importantly, the Titans themselves. These creatures could be studied, controlled, or even weaponized for his grander schemes.
Shockwave turned to his communication console and summoned Time Keeper, the Combat bot.
Time Keeper's towering form materialized on the holographic display, saluting with precision.
"You summoned me, Master Shockwave?"
"Prepare additional Synthetic humanoid robots," Shockwave ordered. "They will introduce themselves to Monarch as freelance scientists and engineers, offering their services. Their goal is to infiltrate the organization and gain access to their operations."
"As you command," Time Keeper replied.
Shockwave leaned closer to the display, his glowing optic narrowing. "Ensure they emphasize their knowledge of robotics and energy manipulation. Monarch must see them as assets, not threats. And remember—logic dictates that subtlety will win the day. They must act human in every possible way."
"Understood, Master," Time Keeper said.
As the connection ended, Shockwave turned his attention back to his primary project: the massive worm he had named L0ya1s7. The creature was nearing completion, its colossal form capable of encircling Plexicon's city multiple times. It would be his ultimate enforcer, a being of pure logic and devastating power.
But for now, his focus was on Earth. Monarch, SHIELD, and even Lex Luthor were pieces on the board. All of them would play their roles in his grand design.
