Slumbering Sloth

Chapter 37: 37. LETTER

In one fluid motion, he flicked his axe backward. The blade intercepted a black arrow aimed directly at his head. The projectile smashed into the axe, and the spell dissipated harmlessly. His instincts had saved him from a potentially fatal strike.

The interruption didn't slow him down. Instead, it fueled his rage. He pressed forward, his movements becoming even more ferocious. The enemies around him were nothing more than obstacles to be obliterated. Each swing of his axe was a symphony of destruction, his body moving with a fluidity that was almost supernatural.

Vikram was in overdrive and he was absolutely slaughtering everything that was around him.

But at some point, his bloodlust took over, and he got careless with his actions. His fighting style changed into absolute brutality and recklessness, and slowly but surely, the wounds were piling up.

Vikram got tried and wounded too much, and a spell of a fireball burned his face, and a knife straight through his softened skin, and he died.

[You have been slain.]

Vikram respawned, but he couldn't help but smile. He finally saw a ray of hope in this predicament. The reason why Vikram lost right now was that he didn't actually grasp the power of this 'Beast Blood'.

He also noticed that the moment he activated his Beast Blood, he could see a bar appear in front of him. The leftmost part of the bar had an image of a man roaring towards heaven, his eyes crying blood.

The longer he ignited his Beast Blood, the longer the bar was getting filled with red crimson blood, and the more he was getting stronger.

Vikram felt that if he mastered the power of his Beast Blood, he could pass this level. Thus began another layer of dying and respawning. With each and every death, the aura of bestial rage became sharper and brutal.

The rushing of the wind, the ringing of steel, bloodshot eyes, and an immense brute strength that could tear a human apart with minimal ease.

Vikram had an ethereal red aura covering him like a tempest that was growing around him. He looked like a tiger pouncing on rabbit, as he rampaged across the enemy lines. Vikram cut through the neu's like vegetables on the chopping blocks.

He had taken a lot of tries, but he was seeing an end to this charade. Suddenly, Vikram slammed his axe backward and flicked his axe hurriedly, and the corpse of the Neu flew and landed in the middle of the neu's.

Flames erupted from the lamp that the Neu was holding in its spindly hands, and the moment life ended for the Neu, the lamp started to burn like a Molotov. When he reached this level, he took the burning lesson a couple of times and developed another huge trauma towards the damn thing.

So, when he would hear the distinct chiming of the lamp, he would not give a second to the little maggot to come close. He now had new mortal enemies, and he was now growing a sense of fear towards children

Vikram brutalized everything that came near him until he didn't. He looked around like a bull wanting a target to vent. But none of them remained in front of him. Vikram blinked, threw his axe towards the roof, and stabbed into the body of the Mage that was trying to sneak attack him from the roof.

He breathed a long sigh to calm his body and blood down. The air around him that was shivering calmed down when his blood calmed down.

Vikram had finally mastered the Beast Blood manipulation, and he was really proficient in it.

He brought up the panel and a plethora of information came in front of him.

Vikram had a hard time controlling the Beast Blood. It was as though he was trying to control a rampaging bull. He had damaged his circulatory system innumerable times and died because of massive internal bleeding.

He also died literally bleeding from seven orifices. Vikram had also died of brain damage because the blood flooded his brain with some misfortune. He had taken a long time to master the Blood Tyranny Technique.

One of the reasons he took a long time was also that he had a lot of suppositions towards these 'Barbarian Skills', and that pre-suppositions had made him take too long time to master them.

For example, when he activated Beast Blood in his body, there was a bar that appeared every time, and the longer time he activated the Beast Blood, the blood-red bar would increase over time.

Vikram had thought that when the blood-red bar reached the end of the bar, he would be a rage-inducing monster that would have no brain. But that was false. One time, he tried to reach the full bar, and the moment he reached the full bar, he felt an ethereal connection towards his blood, and the longer he stretched the time he activated the Beast Blood, the more powerful he became.

Then, he got into contemplation and found the reason. This cultivation method was clearly something that was developed for ages, and for ages, the human body would evolve into the way it was directed.

Barbarians thrived on rage, drawing power from it, so losing control in the midst of battle made no sense. It would only leave them vulnerable, giving the opponent an opening to strike a fatal blow—a weakness that was condradicting their evolutionary nature.

In short, even if there was a time when the Barbarian's rage was a double-edged sword, their Way and body had evolved in a way to combat this drawback.

Which was what Vikram was now enjoying. He had gotten a 'body' that had formed a resistance to 'rage blind', which was a name Vikram had given to rage that blinded people into bloodlust.

It was not like he was completely immune to Rage Blind. If he wasn't in control of his mentality in the period of time the red bar took to fill the bar, he would be in Rage Blind.

He had to be extremely in control of his emotions until the moment the red bar was filled, after the red bar was filled, he would have a time period where he would enter the peak of his cultivation level, where there would be nothing in his level that could kill him.

Vikram stretched his body and calmed down his boiling blood. Finally, he had passed this accursed scenario, and he was free to move ahead.

But first, he had to explore, it was important that he explored the Inner Village as he explored the Outer Village, because he had gotten the same feeling when he was beginning to explore the Outer Village, that he was going to get something good.
