Chapter 2: Sonic's Backstory 2
Sonic's Backstory 2
After meeting Mistgun, Sonic and he travel in search of a guild, but along the way, they discover an abandoned village.
Sonics's POV
Weeks had passed since I met Mistgun. He was a mage who was slightly taller and older than me. One day, we discovered a village that had been destroyed. Upon entering it, we started inspecting the surroundings.
"Hey Mist, do you think there are still people here?" I asked while looking around.
"I think it's an abandoned village," he replied.
We ventured deeper into the village and found a bigger house. We figured it must be the village chief's residence. At the entrance, a shadow appeared.
"Oh, I wasn't expecting visitors," the shadow spoke.
Mistgun and I stayed on guard in case it was a potential threat.
"Oh, don't be afraid; I mean you no harm," the figure said, and we saw it was an old man speaking to us.
"Who are you?" Mistgun asked.
"My name is Roubaul. I am the chief of this village," he replied.
"You mean this destroyed village?" I questioned.
"What happened here?" Mistgun inquired.
He explained what had happened. After thinking it over, Mistgun and I decided to stay for a while and help rebuild the village. Three weeks later, Mistgun wanted to go gather supplies in a nearby village. I wanted to go with him, but he insisted I stay to watch over the village.
Three days passed, and he still hadn't returned. I was starting to worry. I was about to go look for him when I saw him coming from afar. I ran toward him and noticed he wasn't alone.
"Where were you? Getting supplies doesn't take this long!" I exclaimed, stopping next to him.
"Sorry, but you knew it would be hard to get back with all that heavy rain. But I didn't return empty-handed," he said, pushing forward a small girl who was younger than me.
Looking at her, I could tell I was probably a year older than her. I gave her a questioning look, which made her hide behind Mistgun as if she was scared.
"Come on, Wendy, don't be shy," Mist said to the little girl.
"Wendy?" I said, surprised.
"Um... my name is Wendy Marvell... nice to meet you," she said with a bow, and I noticed her face was all red.
"This is Wendy," Mistgun said. "She was lost, too."
Later, we gathered in the hall of the chief's house so Mistgun could explain what had happened.
"I was heading toward the forest when I heard sobbing. As I followed the cries, I found Wendy, who was crying because she had lost someone. She told me it was Grandeeney, the Sky Dragon," Mistgun explained.
"A SKY DRAGON?!" I exclaimed, realizing dragons were real. "So dragons actually exist?"
Mistgun: "Yes, there was a time when dragons and humans lived in harmony. But recently, dragons have started disappearing."
Sonic: "I wonder what a dragon tastes like. Wait, so you mean Wendy had a relationship with one of those dragons?" I said, looking at Wendy, who had lowered her head. She still seemed upset.
"Since I was little, Grandeeney raised me. She even taught me magic. But one day, she disappeared without a trace," Wendy said, starting to cry.
As soon as she began crying, I grabbed a pack of tissues I had collected and wiped her tears before they even fell, thanks to my speed.
"No, no, no, you shouldn't stain your pretty face with tears. I'm sure your dragon hasn't gone far. She'll be back soon," I said.
"It's already been a week since she left, and I miss her so much," she said, blowing her nose.
"That's really sad for you, Wendy. Master Roubaul, do you think she could stay with us?" Mistgun asked.
"Of course, she is welcome here. She can stay as long as she wishes," the old master replied with a smile.
"Did you hear that, Wendy? You're not alone anymore," I said, offering her a hug.
"Y-yes," she murmured, smiling for the first time.
I never imagined I'd see a smile more beautiful than mine.
